The4OfUs...."Romantic Escape at Sea" Pkg

I'm not sure on this one, I know Juli had more than one booked because her DH didnt' want to participate, (his loss, her gain...*grin* ;) ) - I didn't do any more than the included one, although I'd love to next time. Honestly I think I'll have to take a cruise alone just to get to all the things I wanted to do as a "grown up", there are so many fun family related things to do!

Kim, Juli, any input on that one?

I was kind of hoping we could add the "sureal" ( not sure of the spelling :o ) bath onto our time. I haven't decided whether or not im joining in the other spa activities. I may let DW have everything as well. But the idea of not having to get in line for ressies is worth the money all by itself. I tried calling DCL but the reps couldnt tell me other than to say id get my packet 30 - 45 days in advance.

thanks again!:teeth:

YES!!!! I have been thinking the same thing! We had a great time as a family, but I was thinking of all the other things that I would have liked to do and maybe could by myself.:p I don't know if DH would let me cruise without him, though. He LOVES cruises. In fact, some of my girlfriends who want to go on a cruise but their DH's won't, said we should plan a girls cruise. But even they said that my DH would probably insist on going too!!

Anyway, sorry to digress...

I did not try to book any other spa treatments in advance, so I am sorry that I can't answer that question.

Rae, I loved your comment about your DH8 LOL!! We should have let our DH4 play in the rose water!!

I'm in!

*jumps to front of the line*

Interesting that you and Juli got a "rose petal" bath...I don't know that I'd even think to look in there to be honest! Did you guys get the "trail of petals" as well? :)

I didn't have a trail outside the door like you did -- which I thought was really nice! But, there were rose petals EVERYWHERE inside the cabin; on the floor, all over the bed. It was like he backed a dump truck full of rose petals into our stateroom!! If we hadn't ordered that second bottle of champagne at dinner, perhaps I would have had the presence of mind to take some pictures. The next day I realized that I would have liked to.

I think our cabin steward was a rookie. One night early in the cruise I saw he had a 'cheat sheet' on top of his cart depicting the turndown designs for given nights.

Anyway, it was still neat seeing all of those rose petals. But, once I saw your pictures, I could see that you had an artist with a paintbrush instead of the house painter with the power sprayer :D

I have kind of a random question....
My DW likes to scrapbook. Do you think that if you saved a couple of the rose petals they would let you off the ship with them??? I know that you aren't supposed to bring off fruit or anything like that??
:D

After reading your comments, I am ready to book the package, just want to make sure it's realistic that with 4 kids, DH and I can really get away for dinner alone at Palo and massages..... what do you all think?

Thanks,
Laurie:Pinkbounc

I have a couple of questions....
If I call now for our cruise in three weeks who do I make the ressies for Palo and the spa with? Do the reservations folk give me a contact, do they contact me? Is this paid in advaince or does it go on your shipboard account?
This might be a good anniversary present (couple of months early but always good for brownie points :) )

Cheers,
Grumbo

We booked this for our March 20 cruise about 2 weeks ago. We had to put the $299 on a credit card about 2 days later. And they told us that DCL would call us about 4 weeks prior to sailing. We are really looking forward to this :D .

This sounds like fun. I think we'll book this package also. We haven't been on a cruise yet, but it would be nice not to have to rush to get ressies.

thanks in advance

Jason:D

Hi Jason,

We booked all our ressies a couple of weeks prior with DCL Dining. When I asked if I could book something different for the spa I was told not on the phone, but I could try in person. The package is the package. The spa is run by Steiner Leisure, so that my have something to do with it. Even when I got to the ship, they would only let me change to two individual choices of the REAS. You could choose the Couples Well-Being Massage or the Couples Spa Taster. Since my DH didn't want to join in they let me book two of either of these for myself. I chose one of each and it was great. No problem setting up the times once we were on the ship. I did this on Sunday morning prior to heading into Key West. They could handle over the phone from our Stateroom or in person.

HTH,
Juli

Well Laurie, it depends on your kids. Will they be ok in the club/lab for the evening while you are out? My kids are used to Disney Nightcare and were ok with staying there. But when they were 5 we were being beeped all the time to come and pick them up. I guess it depends on your kids.

Juli

P.S. Palo offered a tongue in cheek service of tossing the beepers overboard for parents out for a night alone!

Thanks Juli, not having been on a cruise before, I'm not sure how my kids will feel about it. They are 11, 9, 6 & 4. They are pretty independent, but would do best if I could find a way to keep the little ones together, even though their age groups are apparently separate. I think we'll try the package anyway and hopefully we won't have to take Palo up on throwing the beepers overboard......Any suggestions about timing of dining at Palo? I was thinking if we did take the earliest ressie, we could get back sooner for the kids, or we could (?) sit with the kids while they eat at 6 and go later??????

Thanks!
laurie

Juli...its so funny you should say that. On our last Wonder cruise, two other couples went along with us to Palo (one couple were friends of ours that went on the same cruise and the other couple we met while there)

Anyway, our kids, most of whom were the same age, apparently had a conspiracy planned in which they would all have us paged to be picked up out of the club while we were at dinner. One at a time, our pagers started to go off.

This was the last night and none of them had paged any of us before this point in time. We sent the Daddys to handle the situation, and once the children feared for their lives if they paged us again, the Daddys returned to their wine glasses--and empty wine bottles since the Mommys were obviously waiting for their return. ;) The dining room manager literally CONFISCATED our pagers until after dinner was done! (Obviously this is a regular issue at Palo.)

That'd work....we did that for the brunch - we had the character breakfast the day we had the brunch, so we sat with the kids for the 9:45 am breakfast, and had coffee, then went upstairs to enjoy the brunch at 10:30!

Were you able to book the brunch beforehand as part of the package? Is there a way to know when my kids would be having a character breakfast or is that something we arrange as well?

Yes on both - you can book ANY ressies at Palo including the brunch and tea...and you will have the character breakfast the morning AFTER your first night in Animator's Palate, soooo...if you choose your dining rotation, you'll know what morning the character breakfast is and can plan accordingly. We had late dining so our breakfast was 9:45am Monday morning as we had LAPLAPL rotation.

We have the early dining, does this package also give us an opportunity to choose our rotation. If so, any suggestions?

Thanks!:)

Assuming your kids are okay with going to the Oceaneer's Club and Lab to begin with, if you tell the counselor upon check-in that you have a reservation, they note in the computer. That way they won't beep you just because a child wants to leave, only if it's an emergency.

My TA said that you can make a 'request' for your rotation. It's not a guarantee, but she said that the Dining Coordinator had been good about trying to arrange it. We were going to have 3 kids, 5, 4, and 2 years old at our table. So, I requested APL with the understanding that was the one I was most likely to get anyway (we were confirmed for early already). So I really don't know if I would have gotten that anyway, or got it because I requested it. There were many kids at our dining room and it tended to be noisy, but they all may be like that.

For the Western cruise, APL meant that our character breakfast was Sunday morning. I believe that if you are LAP, then it is Monday morning and if you are PLA it's Thursday morning.
