Hi,
if we book for this summer then we will be taking a 4 to 6 month old baby with us. Is this crazy? Is four months way too young to take a child?

I think that the younger they are the easier it will be for you! Our DS was 11 months and he was so easy to deal with, he went on all the non height resitriction rides, and slept in his stroller a lot of the day, the baby care centres are great, and I think Disney really cater for moms and dads with little ones. The only thing that was a problem was the heat, and keeping him cool.

I would not hesitate in taking a baby to WDW, it will be fab!

I should add that my son was 6 weeks and my daughter was two and a half years old. The trip was her present for having a new baby brother. Going to see Mickey

We took our Daughter in September just gone and she was 5 months. I wouldnt hesitate in going again with a baby.

I think Orlando is a really easy holiday with a baby, the baby centres are brilliant! And the supermarkets stock most things that you can get in the UK (except formula if you need that).

in the womb and 8months

Both our our two now ages 2 and 6 have been when under 1 years old. I certainly wouldn't say it was crazy as there is lots to interest little ones. At 18 months my daughter went flying in the 1950's biplane at Fantasy of Flight!

There is some good advice on the site which I have seen many times being ignored. I have always advised people who are going for the 'trip of a lifetime' to hold off but so long as you go at your little one's pace it is the happiest place on earth at any age.

Thanks for all the feedback, it certainly makes me feel better about going. We have been getting some strange looks from friends/family when we tell them we are thinking of going this summer and were starting to feel like bad parents but I think we will definitely go for it now. We took our oldest when she was just over a year and she loved it but I didn't know how it would be with a child much younger.

we went in march with our dd who was 5 months at the time, we have since taken her to paris in sept for her 1st birthday and then again in Dec and have booked up for fwdw in May when she will be 20 months, by far the easiest trip was to florida when was 5 months, she slept most of the flight (8 out of 9 hours both ways) and because she wasnt yet weaned we didnt have to worry about food etc. She slept in her puschair and we strolled around or if in mk got the monerail to epcot without having to wake her. actually i think its a brilliant age to take lo's. She loved the characters and the baby centres are excellent. We all had a nice relaxing time, just beware that you wouldnt be able to do it at the pace that you might be used to pre baby trips and i am sure you will have a fab time. Only reccomendation would be to bring a comfy pushchair as lo will probably spend alot of time in it, also get a buggyshade to protect from the sun and enjoy :goodvibes

sorry crossed posted! we also got comments from family when we told them we were booked, but a happy parent is a happy baby and although they wont remember any of it, they will have some lovely photos to look at when they are older. Also DD got some brilliant character interaction as she just looked so cute in her minnie babygrows etc

We took our daughter when she was just 6 monthe old and had no problems , the only tip i would give is we booked a "sky cot" which is like a hamock that the ailine gave us so the baby didnt have to be on our lap all the time. You must book this in advance as they can only be used on the bulkhead seats . it made the flight a lot easier.

took my youngest two when they were 4 months and the youngest again when he was 10 months - stayed on site with the youngest and found that easier than travelling to and from a villa. Slightly more difficult with a two year old and a baby but still would do it again

No matter how young they were they took in all the sites and characters - eyes wide open!!

These comments are so helpful thank you. Did anybody have any problems with their baby being knocked out of their routine due to the time difference?

To be honest we had no problems with baby routines at all , if you think about it most of the time they just sleep and feed and at times they need so i dont think anything changes.

Took our youngest at 9 months. No problems, we bought an electric kettle out there to sterilise bottles etc. as the electric sterilsier did not work well with an adapter. Sky cot - a must, reserve a full size crib if possible, anything you forget you can buy out there! Remember lots of nappies in the carry on ( dont pack them all in the cases)

on the way out the time difference was fine, we tricked her lol, as there is a 5 hour differnce we just gave her an extra feed during the day (she was fed every 4 hours) making her day 4 hours longer, but as she slept so long on the plane she was fine going to bed at 8pm orlando time, she did wake ready for the day at 5.30am, but we were already awake and by day3 she was 100% on orlando time. On the way home it was about the same 3 days and she was back into her pre holiday routine, they adapt really well at that age, i am not so sure about how she will cope when we go in May when she is 20 months tho... wish me luck lol! Also meant to say we did an online shopping order with garden grocer for nappies and wipes, to save on having to pack them.

and we had a sky cot with BA and she slept perfectly in this so was well worth it.
