Wednesday August 16th
We woke up a little late the next morning after our night out partying in the MK. The touring was really starting to hit us and it was so hot. We packed up our bags with tons of water that we had put in the freezer the night before because today we would be braving the hottest park in WDW. Yup, we were off to AK.
We walked on over to the bus stop and my ankle that had started hurting me at the end of the day at Epcot was getting worse and I was in full on limp mode. I had no idea what the heck happened to my ankle because I don’t remember twisting it and I was alternating between my tennis shoes (which are awesome) and my
Crocs. Unfortunately the only crocs I had were my Nile ones and I didn’t feel like wearing them on such a hot day and when I put on my tennis shoes they felt uncomfortable on my hurt ankle. Yani had brought her Croc sandals (since my mother decided to make mine hers

) so I wore hers, but they were a little small on me. It would have to do since the other shoes bothered me.
The bus comes and wisks us off to AK. We didn’t make rope drop, but we were there early enough. As we were walking into the park I decided I needed something for my ankle, so I grabbed a map and found the closest first aid station (somewhere near Dinoland I think) and we trekked on over there. I told my friend Yani, who if you’ve read my April TR is an expert at AK, to go get FPs for EE while I get something for my foot. So she and her BF went off and Isis and I sat in the First Aid station waiting. There was a little girl already in there who was being treated for a smashed up finger, it was really bad and I felt so bad for her.
I tell the first aid lady that I think I twisted my ankle and need to wrap it. So she proceeds to wrap it and gives me some Ibuprofen. I thanked her and my ankle was feeling a little more stable with the bandage.

Yani and her BF were already waiting when I finished and we were now ready to officially start the day. Yani’s BF inspected my wrapping (he’s an ER tech at the hospital we work at) to make sure it was done good.
We hadn’t eaten anything and were starving so we headed on over to grab some burgers (nice delicious breakfast right?

) at Restaurantosaurus, but it didn’t serve lunch until 11am.
So we had some time to kill.
We walked back and decided to do ITTBAB since the wait time on that was like 5 min. As usual it was cute and we all had a good laugh. We finished that and still had a time to kill, but didn’t really know what to do. It was so hot and we were a little groggy (except Yani’s BF) and hot and I didn’t feel like walking too much because of my bum ankle. So we decided to find some shade and just sit and wait for lunchtime. As we were walking over, we found this guy:
We found a bench near Restorauntosaurus and waited. Yani and her BF went off to the bathroom and Isis and I were just happy to be seated in the shade. Here’s my loverly ankle all wrapped up:
As we were waiting I decided to people watch

and look for any DISers; and I actually spotted someone walking with a LGMH and yelled out “Hey DISer!!” but she didn’t hear me and I wasn’t about to limp-run over to say hi to her.

Oh well. At least I actually found a DISer.
Finally, 11am rolled around and we headed in to get some food while I grabbed a table and waited whilst elevating my foot, which helped the throb that was starting (probably from the heat and the wrapping). Yani’s BF gave me some little ice packs that he had in our bag cooler that we’d brought to help with the swelling. It helped some, but they didn’t last long in the August heat.
We finished our delicious Disney McDonald’s burgers and decided to hit up Dinosaur whilst waiting for our EE FP time. The wait time wasn’t bad and we were soon traveling back in time to save our Dino friend.
Here’s my redneck pic:
I missed the camera and couldn’t Fock it, I was so mad. Yani was covering her ears because it was so loud.
But Look at the people in the row behind us though?
The guy behind Yani’s BF looks like he’s bored and the lady on the end behind Isis looks like she’s wearing a bikini!
Dinosaur killed enough time for us to start heading over to EE. We checked the time for Kilamanjaro Safari, but it was ridiculous and the FP times were too late so we opted against it. We also checked the times for Kali River Rapids and that was ridiculous too, I think all of AK was there trying to cool down. We didn’t mind though, because I didn’t feel like getting my bandage wet and we were hitting up
Islands of Adventure, which has a much better raft ride than Kali (
sorry, but it’s true, you’ll see).
So it was off to EE we go.
We waited a little for our actual FP time to arrive, since we knew from our April trip that they wouldn’t let us on before the time it said on our FP since this is one of the FP nazi rides. It went by quickly and we were soon making our way to encounter the Yeti and guess who was joining us?
Yani, decided she was going to go ahead and ride this time.
She’s ridden it once before and she really doesn’t like thrill rides, but for some reason decided to ride it today. Wooohoo!! Her BF was super happy, since he never got to ride the thrill rides with her. So off we went deep into the mountains to face the Yeti.
Would we survive?
Better yet, would Yani survive?
Of course we survived and here’s the best redneck photo I could get:
How about a closer blurry look?
If you didn’t notice, I am once again Focking the camera!
And just in case you’re wondering, Yani survived too.
We decided to call it a day in AK. It was hot and there really wasn’t anymore rides we wanted to do and Yani’s BF would be bored with all the shows and none of us (especially me) felt like doing the animal trails. So we bid farewell to AK and it’s suffocating heat, but not before some pics and stalking a few Photopass people.
Up next: our second park of the day.
