Sherry, glad that Jonathan is feeling better :)

Rose Mary, sorry about those storms... they sound nasty!! Stay safe as they finish blowing over. And yes, very happy about a short week :teeth:

Well I need to go. Luis is trying to sleep and so I need to shut down early. Have a great day all!

Hello to all my yaya friends. I am finally able to post. Ethan Michael was born at 3:55 pm on Friday, May 28th. He weighed in at 4 lbs. 8.3 ounces and was 16.9 inches long. He is doing well but is still in the hospital and may be there for up to another week.

I went to my dr. appt last Thursday for a non-stress test. He still didn't behave when they wanted him to get his heart rate up. So they were concerned. Then they took my bp and it was too high, so they were more concerned. So I did the urine test and it showed protein, and they became more concerned. The bright spot was an ultrasound that showed everything was just fine. ha!

Just to be on the safe side they decided to send me to the hospital for a 24 hour observation. :o They told me not to eat anything before I got to the hospital and that I wouldn't be allowed to eat until they deicded everything was fine. Then they found out that the hospital I was supposed to deliver at was full (Isabel babies are blooming now!!) so I had to go to a different hospital to be observed.

Once at the hospital I was on total bed rest ( I mean they took care of everything if you know what I mean!) So I spent the afternoon on my left side with the monitors going and my stomache growling. The doc told me that my blood work looked fine and that I could eat dinner but nothing after my evening snack b/c if things changed in teh morning then I would have to have an empty stomach!!

Morning comes and the vampires descended about 6 to get my blood. Doc comes in later and says that either I'm having the baby that day or I'm staying until he is delivered (did I mention this is not the hospital I was supposed to deliver at?) Apparently my blood work was showing my platlets falling and that was troublesome, his heart tones were not very good so that was troublesome, and my bp was having trouble staying low enough to not be troublesome. Finally they told me that we would be going to surgery at 3 to deliver the baby that they couldn't wait any longer. The doc explained it that the platlet count meant that I would eventually abrupt and that the danger to the baby was worse to wait.

So at 3:55 pm he was delievered, but not until they clamped the cord and cut it so they could get it off of his neck, it was wrapped twice around his neck cutting off circulation (thus the heart tones). But he cried pretty quickly and they did not have to do any life saving procedures. He has been breathing on his own since he arrived and has never needed support oxygen. He has not had any problems with apnea or with his heart forgetting to beat. His problem is that he is still losing weight and his bilirubin is too high. We thought we had beat the bilirubin but it shot back up today and so he has to be put under these blue lights and he reminds me of a blue light special at Kmart.

Overall he is doing very well, he nurses well, he seems like a very calm baby and he is behaving himself for the nurses. I was released on Monday but was allowed to stay in my room until Tuesday. I slept at home last night and went back to the hospital today and hung out with him. He is so tiny and fragile but all the nurses said that he is a miracle because at 34 weeks he really should have needed life saving measures but he required none.

I will continue to be scarce until he comes home and I can stop running back and forth to the hospital. Jarrod is thrilled that Ethan is here, but he is very sad that we can't bring him home. I have some pictures I'm going to post but I'll do that in another post since I have written a full fledged novel. So if you are still with me, thanks, and if not I don't blame you at all!!

I know all of my yaya family's well wishes and pixie dust have made this journey that much better!!

more later,
tara

ps. I'm not even gonna attempt a ketchup!!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD, ETHAN!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

You have given us all quite a scare - but we are so glad you are here!!

Tara - please be careful and make sure you get plenty of rest, yourself! What a scary ordeal to have to go through. :( I'll be Ethan is a cute little guy - and wow - sounds like he is in excellent shape and quite the fighter!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :)

Hello all! Just checking in to see how everyone's day went.

Nancy: So sorry to hear about your husband. It must be awful for him. I hope everything works out. Hopefully those cookies will cheer him up in the meantime. I love oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and double chocolate oatmeal cookies sound even better! YUM!

DH is in school for Marketing. He has been making straight A's ever since he went back 3 years ago. Right now he is on track to graduate in December of 2005. WOO HOO! :hyper:

Sherry: I'm glad that Jonathan is feeling better. I on the other hand am feeling very nauseous and had the start of a migraine earlier. I hope I am not coming down with something. :crazy2:

Rose Mary: You had to work late and then got caught in the rain? Doesn't sound like you had a very fun evening. I'm glad things have calmed down. Hopefully you had a chance to relax some tonight!

Hi Tara: You don't know me, but congratulations on your newest addition! Welcome to the world little Ethan! :wave2:

Lisa's choir concert was really nice. They did an excellent job and it was really cool to hear them singing Disney songs! I love the Lion King! The choir was not as polished as what ours was when I was her age. The kids did not have to dress up or alike and there were several technical difficulties. I was actually shocked to see some of the kids wearing jeans and even more shocked at how provocatively some of the girls were dressed. I saw 12 and 13 year old girls in mini skirts, belly shirts and 4-inch stilettos. Where were their parents? I don't have children yet, but I do have enough sense to know that a child should not leave the house looking like that. It is so sad to see how girls want to grow up so fast today. I'm glad my sister is not one of them.

Well, I'm off to bed. Good night! :goodvibes

Here are some pictures of Ethan.

This is the very first picture of Ethan, taken just minutes after he was born.

Good morning everyone!!! Slightly annoyed because I once had a copy of my resume somewhere and now I don't  Nothing like creating a whole new one. Nothing major here, just found a job I would like to apply for.

TARA!!!!!! Congratulations and welcome to little Ethan!!! I am so very sorry you went through all that, but I bet Ethan will be just fine. I remember my brother was 4 lbs 4 oz when he was born and trust me, you'd never know that to see him ;) Take care of yourself and check in when you can

Colleen, good luck to your DH with his Marketing degree. I find it so admirable that people can go back and do so well :) I hear you on the choice of clothing for some kids... I sure don't get it...

Awwww... Ethan is adorable!!!! I love all teh pictures and that "blue light special" just made me smile :)

I'll say it now... wow, Todd, you guessed right, didn't you

Well I should keep hunting for that stupid paper... I updated it about a year or so ago, but wish I knew where I put it!

Thanks for the pictures Tara. Ethan is adorable. Although small he appears to be content and knows who is the boss;)

:wave2: Morning!

Tara, Ethan is adorable :) what a cutie. Glad mom, baby, big brother and the gang are doing well. I hope little E gets to come home soon.

Hope you find your resume Elaine. Makes me  when I can't find what I'm looking for when I know where I last put it. ;)

Must get busy. And prepare for the next round of afternoon thunderstorms in

:sunny: Florida! :teeth:

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good morning, Ya Yas! I figured I had better post quick BEFORE I leave for work--the guys have been keeping my nose to the grindstone and I just haven't been able to DIS!! I'm going into withdrawal!!!! Thank goodness I've been able to sneak in a few quick chats!

What a wonder to wake up to and now I'm all teary eyed!! Little Ethan is indeed an angel, Tara!! He's simply beautiful and your family portrait is positively wonderful!! Congratulations and God bless. He's looking good and I'm betting he will plump up soon and be home with the rest of the family in no time! Will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

Nancy, I'm so sorry things didn't go properly at the doc's yesterday for your DH. And what a bummer to have to go back on Friday. Hope it works and hope there is some way you can get to your movie after all. Gotta admit, that actor who plays Harry is just as cute as can be and is growing up soooooo nicely!

Well, best get my tushie in gear. Today, it's my turn for the broken tooth and dentist visit. Bad almond in the trail mix  Hard as a rock and cracked a molar. Will try and catch ya'll later!

Oh, almost forgot!!! Welcome, welcome, Colleen!! Love your siggie pic, you sound like a true Ya Ya and I'm glad you've decided to join us!

   for all and kisses all around! Mad, mad love to everybody!!!

Thanks Rose Mary... I couldn't find it on any of the three computers that I use. So now I had to try to create a new one and I know it is awful. Oh well... just put me in a really bad mood.

Liz--Cassie has been telling everyone that we're going fishing saturday..:jester: ...Now the interesting part will be if Mandy goes & keeping 2 girls interested in fishing & how to deal with potty breaks...:earseek:

Tara what fine looking baby. I am glad all are healthy. The family photo is so cute.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :wave2: pirate:

CONGRATULATIONS! Tara, you have a beautiful baby. The jaundice lights are kinda funny looking-hope Ethan gets to go home quickly.

This is pretty much an EOIP here...I'm in florida, looking for a place to rent. Found one yesterday, but I'm still going back to the builder I like today...apparently, they are completely sold out on the community in the town we've decided on, but not all the lots had signs...cross your fingers!

Gosh, it's really hot. Guess I better get used to it, huh?

Hi to all. Hugs and kisses. Anyone want a cherry limeade from Sonic? I am now addicted to them!

Suzanne

Ethan is a cutie. Don't fret about those blue lights. Our DD Sarah had to spend an extra couple of days in the hospital when she was born for the same reason. I think that our hospital had more "stylin'" sunglasses for her to wear (although I do like Ethan's). Somewhere we have a picture of her in the tanning booth. We told everyone that she refused to leave the hospital until she had a proper tan.

Tara - I'm looking forward to many more photos of Ethan in future Ya Ya posts.
