The xrays are sitting here

and I wish I knew how to read them.
My son is a runner on his hs team and he has been having calf pain. The main thing they worry about is a stress fracture so today we had first xrays, no stress fracture, now mri. There are many pics here of his calf but I don't know what to look for. I do see a dark spot in the same spot on most of the pics. I don't know if this is normal from the light reflecting, a bruise, or a sign of a fracture. We are so hoping it is not as this will side line him going into spring track season for quite a while.

I can imagine how you are feeling looking at those x-rays. I'll hope for the very best for him.

If I remember correctly a stress fracture is going to be a very minor hairline fracture, sometimes even so faint you can't even see it. I know they were looking for one on DW and that's what they said it would show up as. At least I think..... I'm sure there are other docs here on the DIS that can explain better.

Yes they are very fine. They don't show up usually on xrays until they have started to heal. This is why they did the mri.
