and I wish I knew how to read them.
My son is a runner on his hs team and he has been having calf pain. The main thing they worry about is a stress fracture so today we had first xrays, no stress fracture, now mri. There are many pics here of his calf but I don't know what to look for. I do see a dark spot in the same spot on most of the pics. I don't know if this is normal from the light reflecting, a bruise, or a sign of a fracture. We are so hoping it is not as this will side line him going into spring track season for quite a while.
 
I can imagine how you are feeling looking at those x-rays. I'll hope for the very best for him. :)
 
If I remember correctly a stress fracture is going to be a very minor hairline fracture, sometimes even so faint you can't even see it. I know they were looking for one on DW and that's what they said it would show up as. At least I think..... I'm sure there are other docs here on the DIS that can explain better. :D
 
I sure hope that your son doesn't have a fracture.
 

Yes they are very fine. They don't show up usually on xrays until they have started to heal. This is why they did the mri.
