The worst of life: War, Death, Taxes, No Towel Animals!

Funny thread! We have been to Disney World 4 times in the last 3 years and have never seen a towel animal. We had to go on a Disney Cruise to see one. I'm not sure what the appeal really is - but if it makes you happy then :earboy2:

Wow! I never realized that towel animals were that big of a deal. I haven't stayed at Disney YET (August), but the resort we stay for our beach vacation always makes them and I just thought how cute as did my kids (very cute when they put on the sunglasses) and then took them apart at bath time and used them. It never occured to me that I should keep it in animal form. :flower: Now, I feel kind of guilty. I, too, am an animal towel killer.

Perhaps we should start some sort of support group, ATKA...Animal Towel Killers Anonymous :)

I'm in the other group. People for the Ethical Treatment of Towel Animals- PETTA!

I'm being sarcastic. I honestly don't care for them. And we have been going to Disney many times, and not once I have gotten them, no big deal.

We were on our first ever Disney cruise this past Dec, and everyday, we got animal towels. We got this beautiful gracious swan, and then this cute bunny with his sunglasses on, a friendly quiet dog, and a huge delicious looking turkey hanging on our curtain! I thought that was awesome!! They did a wonderful job!

So, if you're seriously want those towel animals, I would highly suggest to take a Disney cruise. Someone told me that they are highly trained to do those towel animals. He makes it sound like there's a cheap imitation or something. But anyways, I really enjoyed coming back to our room to find such cute things.

I feel that for $ 450 per night I should at least get a washcloth mouse or something!!! My dis kids get a big kick outta it. And that Mickey better wake me up every morning or I'm staying at the Holiday in next time!!! LOL :rotfl2: :love1:

I have seen some cute ones. But seriously once we ran out of towels and waited on housekeeping, they never showed and yes we took one apart as used it as a towel.

I know most on this particular thread are just kidding around, but I have read some trip reports where guests seemed to let this determine if they had a good time or not. Kids will react as to how the parent reacts. Make a big deal out it and they will. Not and they won't.

I would never promise a child something you are not sure you will get in your room. That is truly more cruel than using a towel for its intended purpose.

I've never promised my child that they would get a towel animal. DD, 6, has been to WDW 12 times so far. She has gotten towel animals on the first 6 trips! We had never heard of them until our first towel bunny we got at the CBR. We still have those incidently! So she had come to expect them. Since we have never gotten any on our 6 Poly trips she is used to not getting them.

I could care less about towel animals. In fact I have gotten them several times, taken them apart and used them for the real purpose in life, to dry off with.

You ... you ... you ... MURDERER!
I wonder how callous knaves such as yourself can sleep at night ...
Oh, by the way, does anyone know if I can request a moose towel animal at WL this December? I hear they only take four or five bath sheets and a few washcloths.

But how dare they take MY precious towels! I could have used them to dry off but they put their hands all over MY towels and all for a stinkin' animal made of terry cloth...The horror! When will Disney ever learn..:sad2:

I have to thank you all for this thread, as I sit here at 1am wiping tears of laughter from my eyes  (or are they tears of sadness from the thought of all those cute little towel animals being ripped apart, limb by limb...oh, the horrors!).

Good thing my stepkids are still visiting their mom and my hubbie is at work...now the only people who think I'm a crazy lunatic  (is that redundant???) are the dogs....and they could care less as long as they get their daily pig ear to munch on.

We received our very first towel animal on our most recent trip in June. We actually found some shards of glass on the floor in our room (thankfully, no one was hurt!) and reported this to housekeeping.

Upon returning back to the room that evening, our animals we there.

Love that bunny remote holder.

We got them on one cruise we were on, (Not Disney). I think our cabin steward realized we had a sick sense of humor. As a joke, we took our towel bunny and put a bottle of beer and a cigarrette in his mouth and left him on our vanity. All subsequent towel animals were posed with a cancer stick or drink for the rest of the trip. :rotfl2:

I have :rotfl2: until I have  while reading this thread.

OMG, I never knew that this many people were so enamored with TA's. Maggie

Woohooo! I am staying at the Poly this June, and maybe I might get lucky to get a cow bedspread animal! :rotfl2: I am willing to sleep on the bare bed as long as I get my bedspread animal! I don't mind if they leave an elephant too!!

And if you're going concierge... you will get the curtain animals.. but gee.. I don't know any animal that is bigger than an elephant!! :rotfl:

maybe a dinosaur or....a humpback whale??? Funny thing is there are people on this board who complain that others want the animals but in all honesty, had I not come to the boards before my trip I would never know there was no such thing as standard animals!!! I think it is a cute idea and very Disney-ish...

We never expected them, but we did get a kick out of it one day when we came back and saw my sister's plush bunny flanked by towel bunnies. With the "real" bunny holding the TV remote control, tuned to the disney channel no less. At that point, using the towels for anything else would have been...well, I can't even think about it! :sad2: :wave2:

Not sure what this info will be worth, but I'll give it a shot :goodvibes We've just returned from a week's stay at POP Century and never received a towel animal (not even one :guilty: ) I began to wonder, so I asked a few of the mousekeepers why this might be ~

They told me that if they see "children items" (stuffed animals, etc.) they will make an effort to create the towel animals for them. They kind of giggled at me and said (if they think of it/remember it) they will try and make one for families traveling without kids the morning of their departure.

Then we should all be sure to leave stuffed toys in view in our rooms. Lots of them so that housekeeping thinks that there are kids in the room instead of just us "adults".

We have stayed at Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge, All 3 All Stars, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, and CBR. We have got towel animals every place except Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge & CBR. The best ones have been at Port Orleans Riverside.

Oh, Lord, do you think they were trying to pin it all on the bunny????

The last time my family and I were at Disney, Mousekeeping just arranged the newly purchased Mickey and Pluto and my kids were "thrilled" beyond belief. I think it absolutely adds a wonderful touch and I "know" my kids (DS11 & DD10) would love the towel animals....my question is...Are you "really" allowed to take them home? I see posting were guests have taken them, but DH is NOT one to take hotel "towel"....if you are allowed to take them, how in the world would I convince DH of that??? ~ thanks
