The worst news - keep praying for Caitlyn

I don't know the history but I think I can get an idea based on some of these posts . How frightening.... I just hope she stays safe and finds her way back home with Robin's family. Thoughts and prayers are with them all.

I came into this situation late in the game, but I find myself livid at the current state of affairs. It makes me angry that everyone involved on both sides can't immediately put the child's best interests first, rather than their own interests and scores in need of settling.

I've seen a lot of litigation where the Internet comes into play. I don't think printing out Disboard posts and presenting them as evidence would help, in fact it can be a hinderance. The legal profession still sees chat boards and participation in them as a sign something's wrong with someone. Sad, but true.

Donna, as I recall, she made some complaints with Child Protective Services, and may have filed something with the court, but she wasn't able to legally prove the abuse. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she decide at some point not to pursue anything further because it was too traumatic and too difficult to prove?

legally, when two people have a child, both are presumed to be the natural custodian of that child. In case of separation or divorce, the court may award custody to one or the other. If the custodial parent dies, the noncustodial parent's right to custody is superior to those of a nonparent. if Robin had been legaly able to prove that her former husband abused their daughter, the court would have ordered supervised visitation or would have terminated his rights. if that had happened, Robin's mother would have s better claim to deny Caitlyn's father custody.

I am sure that Robin made sure to let Caitlyn know to tell, tell, tell. Hopefully since Caitlyn is much older, her father will not be able to get away with the same garbage he was pulling before.

How horrible! I will continue to pray for Caitlyn. Please let me know if/when a fund gets set up for the legal fees for Caitlyn's custody trial. This is just heartbreaking.

Yes, you are correct in this post. It was your post where you mentioned a custody battle, etc. that I disagreed.

The one saving grace at this point is as Ripleysmom said-- Caitlyn is aware that she should tell, tell, tell. Either the father's awareness of this will forestall him from doing anything or it will stop it and lead to the necessary proof (now that Caitlyn is older it should be much easier to get her testimony). It's a shame that she must be put in harm's way to do so, but that is the law and as I've been told by my therapist: father's who molester their children don't necessarily not love them. It's hard to understand, I know.

Contacting lawyers and and agencies and services is good.

This man is going to have to enroll her in school. The school should be made aware of this child's situation somehow, and then she can be closesly monitored. Get as much help from the outside sources that have contact with Caitlyn as possible.

Poor Caitlyn. Who is she going to tell now? If she can't talk to Robin's mom, will the father's mom believe her--or even do anything about it? I'll be praying for her because I don't think this will end well, unfortunately.
