I can see how that may affect some people. My bigger fear is that my kids would never want to get off the bus. They already think it's the best ride on Disney property. Two years later and I still hear about the Disney buses. :teeth:

what was your favorite memory using the buses? What the best tip you can give to a new guest using the buses for the first time?

I saw this on a mother thread that had a video I could not watch the whole thing. I for one hat this idea, I do not think they will be using the light while driving so I may have to wait and be the last one on the buss but I will make it work some way,

On the video I saw, there was a sign at the exhibit indicating that this bus was a prototype and not currently planned for production.

I find the bus drivers to be the best cms no matter if your on their bus or not they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

As posted on the link given above:

"Again, Disney clearly stated that the busses are not in production, nor are they planned to be"

if you ride the new articulated buses what your thoughts you like and tips on how to load on those buses. Even though hey do use the second door like the other buses but the seating is little different.

The "Sorcerer Bus" is a concept vehicle; as with all concept vehicles, there are elements that change from the time the concept is presented and when the finished product hits the road. While I find it interesting to imagine an entire fleet of these buses in service, I have a feeling that *IF* Disney were to convert the entire fleet, we would see 1 of 2 scenarios:

Either [1] You would be able to (and asked to confirm at check-in) if you want to "opt-in" or "opt-out" of personalized experiences like automated birthday greetings on the bus, or more likely [2] that feature would not be implemented, simply due to the potential privacy issues.

And as far as the buses being a "money maker" for Disney movies, a couple of fast points to ponder:
- The Studios are responsible for paying for all marketing for movies (which means from an accounting standpoint that the Marketing department at Disney Studios pays the Theme Parks for placement of ads/posters on buses; this is a widely accepted business practice) So, in theory, it still "costs" Disney either way: The Marketing department has to pay for placement, and produce and provide those bus placards. The Theme Parks make a small amount of money - but it also takes away that sale-able ad space that could theoretically be sold to local businesses, airlines, rental car agencies, etc. at a potentially higher price per square foot.
- Although the buses do indeed have a "captive audience" for those ads, the *huge* majority of adults on those buses are doing 1 of 3 things: [1] holding a child (which demands a certain amount of attention) [2] on their smartphone, playing a game, updating their Facebook, or texting someone, or [3] talking to a friend/family member traveling with them. As a long-time people watcher, I can tell you that the majority of the people I see on the internal Disney World buses simply never look up there. Therefore, the ad space becomes virtually useless at this point, and while you are at WDW Disney will market it's current/past/future movies to you via the shops in the Parks and Resorts (and Disney Springs) and rides, "experiences", attractions, and meet-n-greets.

The transportation system at WDW is both a huge asset and a financial liability for Disney; any marked change to the buses will be because they are either safer to operate for the drivers & guests, hold more guests, and/or use less fuel. (pick any number of those).

What your best tips for new guest to buses on how to beat or misses the crowed busss or how to deal with it the best way.

If you make it interactive you have a better chance to get the advertising across. And it won't just be used for movie advertising they just get that department to chip in it be used to interact with your magic band and other things. So maybe I was wrong it be a money maker but it can be used to make some money weather it get two people to go to a movie they made money.

I know more about buses then almost anyone on hers and some drivers. I can tell you that the articulated buses not only coast a lot more then regular buses but coast a lot more to operate the way disney use them. But since they carry a lot more guest they willing to put up with the extra expenses. I can also tell you after years of them testing buses and then denying they will ever use hybrid or fuel effeicnt buses because they couldnt figure out a buses or way to do it with how Disney runs buses. But know they switched all their buses to bio diesel.

On another note they made some nice updates to the buses as I down here now. Now each park or resort has a special saying on the markee i.e. Magic kingdom says charmed to see you then flashes magic kingdom. They added the words leader to the transport suvs that drive around and watch the drivers and they have been out in full force. The bus lanes by Disney springs seems to help so not sure if Disney will try to expand or use them other places. Not that they could all over due to space. But I have seen the drivers working very hard as usual they been using the articulated buses a lot more then I ever seen.

Now if a driver training it flashes earning my ears training I joking the bus is earning it ears.

Personally, I have found that the best way to deal with crowds at WDW simply comes from 2 things: [1] Self-setting the expectation that at some point you will find yourself in a crowded situation, and [2] Remembering that even at Park close during high season, we have never had to wait for more than 2 buses before we could board my ECV.

At WDW, there *WILL* be crowds - increasingly, there are no "slow" times of the year as Disney finds new markets, and new strategies to keep the Parks as full as possible, and the Resorts full as well.

If the "worst" thing that happens to you at WDW is that you had to wait for a bus? Sounds like a pretty great day to me, and I'll gladly trade you! ;)

Yes - in September when we were there last, they had started that; for MK our buses usually said "My other vehicle is a flying carpet!" and one of our AK buses said "Get wild!". We thought it was fun, and gave positive feedback to the drivers to pass along.

I hope you are having a lovely trip!

1) Pardon me, now is this a "bus phobia" (included within the term of Hodophobia)?
2) A bus is a bus - regular or articulated.
3) I do not understand the question or reason for the question.
4) Please explain, so we can answer in a clear manner.

Sorry I meant more for guest who are new to needing to load with an ecv or wheelchair. And might by reading and hearing some negative things maybe that be afraid to use the buses.

I don't mean people who are afraid of buses them selves we not capable of helping somekne stepping my on a bus. But we as the disabilities DIS forum can make it easier and better for a guest to use the buses with a ecv.

Each bus is different they all have a diffenernt styles, mood and feeling. They each make you feel diffenenrt even the filling and nova while they the same kinda bus they look little different and handle differently.

Ride the artucalted bus and the regular bus for an hour you have different experience in both.

It like each cast memeber not built the same not every bus is built the same :):):):):):)

Wow - how did this thread go from the "new" but not planned to be used prototype to what it is now? Did it get super-modded? I am so confused!

1) OK.
2) The person in the ECV or wheelchair waits in the handicap line.
3) The bus pulls up.
4) In most cases, the handicap person is loaded first - along with some or all of their party - then remainder of the bus.
5) If the bus is pretty full already, the handicap person might not be loaded until the next bus or busses.
6) Easy-Peasy.
