It's our first night in Disney!!!
After taking pictures of the room, we headed back to the main building for dinner. This was one of my, shall we say, less than stellar moments. I was tired, hungry, my head hurt, I couldn't hear, and I was sneezing and coughing. Not a wonderful combination.
After taking a look at the menus, we decided on the Butter Chicken with multigrain rice. You get to choose two sides and we chose the cauliflower and spinach with paneer cheese. The entree normally comes with one piece of naan bread, but we asked for a second and got it for free!
I had asked for the extra naan bread and intended it to be the 3 piece portion that you pay for as an additional side. I asked for extra and he gave us the 1 free. Don't get me wrong, free bread is great. BUT, it was so nummy yum yums that I could have easily eaten another piece!
We got bottled water to drink, as we'd be getting our resort mugs the next day. It was one of the HUGE bottles of water and I was very happy.
One very important rule when traveling with a Duck: water her regularly! A dehydrated Duck is NOT a Happy Duck!
The food was very good. Even though cauliflower isn't one of my favorite vegetables, I did eat it. It was a tad tough for me though. I really liked the spinach and paneer cheese. The chicken was your typical Indian buffet chicken. Tasty but nothing special. The rice was very good. It had a nutty taste to it and was very satisfying. And I love naan bread.
We decided that we just had to get dessert. I remembered seeing pictures of the Mickey ganache on the DIS and knew that I had to try it! We decided to get only one to share and I am glad we did. The ganache was typical, nothing special, and the cake was dry. I don't know if that is how it is normally, but this particular dessert wasn't worth it to us. It looks very cute though!
We left the Landscape of Flavors through the Ink and Paint shop, since they are so conveniently connected.
One of my goals was to find medicine. It was time to knock this cold down! They had Contac brand, which I've never used before, but it seemed to work very well. I also picked up some Afrin nasal spray to get rid of that pesky runny nose.
Of course, after the necessities were in hand, we had to look over that whole store! I don't know if it was the food or the fact that I was shopping (probably both) but I did start to feel a teeny bit better at this point.
I found the purple Art of Animation shirt that I wanted so bad...but they didn't have it in my size. Boo. (In hindsight, I really should have asked if they had anymore! At the time I just didn't feel like it...)
Oops! Didn't go back for this shirt. Guess we gotta plan another trip!!!!!! (What? Think I'm a bit Disney obsessed?

)
We got a few odds and ends. Mostly some things that we knew we had to get for people back home and didn't want to forget.
A great gift for younger sister, Sarah -- a pen in the design of the AoA paintbrush. She loves it!
And of course since we had our lanyards we PIN TRADED! Oh yes! I was so happy to be back in pin trading heaven. We ended up trading with 2 different CMs and their pin board!
After finishing up our shopping, and getting our first sticker shock of the trip (yay annual pass discount!) we headed back to the room.
I medicated and started feeling better. I still had fullness and pressure in my ear, but the rest of my head was clear!
I was so happy because I actually felt well enough to go swimming at the Nemo pool!
Insert picture here. Someone forgot to put in a picture! I know it was the pic from the next morning, but it was still a cool picture....
It was amazing leaving the room at that point. I was really starting to feel much better (better living through drugs!) and was basically experiencing the resort for the first time! I was oohing and aahing at everything and getting all giddy. Yay happiness!
We walked around the backside of the resort, along the lake, instead of walking straight through the middle. We wanted to see as much of the resort as possible. You could see Pop Century across the lake and it looked really neat.
The pool was very crowded, but we expected that. UP was showing on the large screen so that was very fun to see! It was like Disney knew we were coming on our adventure!!!! (THE WILDERNESS MUST BE EXPLORED!!!!)
I never thought of it that way! that just made me say "Awwwwwwwwwwwww".
We finally found two chairs that were free. No luck getting chairs in view of the movie screen though
We went in via the zero entry area. That was so cool! Logically you know that you are just walking into the water, but it doesn't quite hit you until you start swimming and are like, "I just walked into the pool and started swimming."
Okay, I know that didn't make much sense. But it was very cool to me. Moving on.
We did make sure to go underwater and listen to the music. It was actually hard to do! There were too many people (and too many unsuspecting kids) that you couldn't really just swim around under water. Kids were constantly running into us. It was like I needed my own personal space bubble!
So very very crowded. It was nice to see that parents were letting there kids relax before bed, but geeeeeze, wall-to-wall tiny tots. If I remember correctly the song that was playing underwater had the phrase "I live in a land down under". Anyone know the name of the song?
We stayed in the pool for about 20 minutes or so. After trying to actually swim (with no success) we decided to head out and have fun in the splash zone! And by have fun, I mean I put my feet in a few of the jets and had fun stopping the water from coming out like a little child. "Mama! Mama! A fish spit on me!"
We left the Nemo pool and went to try out the Little Mermaid pool. It was very cute!
There was definitely a crowd at the pool, although it wasn't nearly the crowd level of the Nemo pool. We stayed for a bit, and then decided that the pool wasn't doing it for us this evening. Instead, we changed and went back to Landscape of Flavors for a late night snack! We rationalized that our shared disappointing ganache was not sufficient.
There was a debate though...do we get a brownie or gelato? Hmmm.... decisions. In the end we decided on gelato.
And that took awhile. I don't know if it was the CM running the show, or the customers in front of us, but it seemed to take forever! In the end, I chose chocolate with rainbow sprinkles. And then I was sad because I didn't even realize that I could get Mickey sprinkles! Rainbow sprinkles are fun too though.
Despite the sprinkle conundrum, at this moment, I was very happy. I was getting a snack in Disney, I was with my Mama in Disney, I was wearing my pin lanyard in Disney. I was in DISNEY!!!!!!!! Plus, I got complimented on my pins by the CM running the register, so that made me happy.
This was a picture of our gelato, after walking back to the room...so of course we had started eating and of course it started to melt. It was tasty though and very rich.
"Started" to melt? It was hot outside and I had a drippy mess on my hand. But it was still very tasty and I TOO was in DISNEY!!!
After eating our snack, we changed into pjs and watched Miss Congeniality. Exciting, right?
We set our wake-up call for 6am, scheduled luggage pick-up for 7am, and went to bed at 11pm!
Good night!!!
Any guesses which park was first on our list?!?!?!??!?!?!
