I would go boat to magic kingdom then bus to beach club...I would say 90 mins. That would be probable worse case scenario. It will likely only take you about 45mins or so but all it takes is to just miss that one bus and your time is multiplied. And if you do get there early you can check out stormalong bay or take a quick walk around the boardwalk.

This would work fine but if you wanted to do it a bit quicker although less scenic I would take the direrct bus from WL to MK and get the bus from MK to the Beach Club.

How many outlets are in the rooms? I am contemplating on if I need to bring and extension cord with me. I will have ~7 things to charge. TIA

I would bring a surge protector/power strip. This way you can plug five or six items into that and only use one plug.

Are there still jr. suites available at WL? Does anyone know what they cost? This is my dream resort but we are a family of five, and I just don't think we can swing two rooms at Christmastime when we're going. Sigh.

Yes, they still do. You should check the Disney website for the cost of the room when you will be visiting.

Also, remember that the Jr. Suites include Club Level access so this may help with your planning. Believe me there is enough food in the lounge to have breakfast and dinner. We were recently there and many were enjoying.

Refrigerators are included in ALL rooms at the Wilderness Lodge. They are the small dorm sized ones. No charge!

They call them deluxe rooms now. The 2009 rack rates for Dec. are:

Value Season (Nov. 29 - Dec. 17) - $525.00
Holiday (Dec. 18 - Dec. 24) - $750.00
Holiday (Dec. 25 - Dec. 31) - $770.00

Yep, this is what I would and have done. You just have to walk inside the BC this way. If you took a bus to Epcot you would have to walk all through Epcot then through World showcase then to the hotel. It's doable but very tiring!

We are planning our very first stay at the WL in May. I am so excited as I have always wanted to stay here! Anyway, a quick question for you experts... we have a breakfast at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club at 1015am one morning. What is the best way to get there from WL without a cab (We have a child who wont have a carseat), and how much time would you allow? Thanks!

We had 8 Am reservations - and the DHS bus driver took us there directly after he dropped off at DHS. The concierge told us to ask and the driver accomodated. I don;t know if they would do this later in the day?
USE the concierge - at frontdesk- they are VERY helpful.

You are able to walk there from DHS - it is abit longer walk than from the Boardwalk - but can't be much longer?

I would vote basket.
The coffee in the rooms was in a large bag (tea bag like). We didn;t have any complaints actually, and my coffee I usually call a "hot beverage" because it is not at all coffee. we took some coffeemate from the cafeteria style area and it helped- if you take cream in your coffee.
I was dreading the coffee after all the posts, and maybe I was expecting horrid, so what we got was much better than horrid

WL coffee makers have basket and come with pre-packaged coffee already in filters. If you wish to bring your own coffee from home you'll also need to bring your own regular filters.

Hi everyone! I just booked my first stay at WL for our 10th wedding anniversary. Our honeymoon was supposed to be at CSR in 1999 but I had back surgery instead! This is DH's first trip to WDW (36 years old-where has he been?). I have stayed at AKL but I think DH will like WL the most. My mom and I are going for MNSSHP on a pin code but I got another one so was able to return for our anniversary. There is tons of stuff on this thread and I can't wait to dig in. In the meantime, may I be an annoying newbie and ask some questions? We have a courtyard view room. The CM requested a King Size bed, but noted it was not guaranteed. (my DH is 6'5). Are the courtyard rooms with king beds only in a certain area? I also read on hear that the courtyard rooms overlooking the Villas are the quietest? How do I go about making a room request for a certain area now that I am already booked?

I also want to book our anniversary dinner for Artist Point. Any thoughts on this restaurant or what is the best table view and how to get it?

Hi there,

You would use the basket type and it will be the 4 cup size. Make sure you use bottled or filtered water as the tap water is not the greatest.

Hi and Happy Upcoming 10th!!!

There are very few "regular" king bed rooms at the Wilderness Lodge. Most are handicapped accessible. All types of rooms are spread out through out the WL. No specific area for any type rooms except the Honeymoon Suites and the VP and Presidential.

Honestly, my DH is 6'2" and we always get two queens and it's more than fine. He has no problem with the bed. You will have a much better chance at getting a specific "room" request if you stay with two queens as they are the most abundent.

Yes, the courtyard area that faces the Villas is a very nice and quiet area. If that is what you would prefer, you will need to call back CRO and ask if you can put a request for a room on your reservation. The other courtyard view can be of the lake, the pool and also the upper courtyard view will be of the waterfall. Also, when you have them on the phone ask them to make a note that it is your Anniversary. You may get some Pixie Dust! Remember, everyone has their own preference in which area they prefer. Make sure it is what you like. We actually like the fact of facing the pool with all the activities going on, but that is just us.

As for Artist Point, I think it is a very, very good choice. You will need to request a window seat when you check in at the restaurant for your dinner. Disney Dining will not take requests, they will tell you to ask at the podium. What I would ask for when you get to the restaurant would be "a window seat overlooking the waterfall". You may have to wait a little longer for your table. ALSO, remember when you do make your dining reservation with Disney Dining (and tell them at the restaurant), make sure you tell them it is your Anniversary you will be celebrating that night at dinner. Again who knows, you may get something special!

quick question about refridges at WL--- when we stayed there last summer, our refridg didn't have a small freezer part that I have had at other hotels with the dorm like refridges; do any of the WL ones have a freeezer part>???
If yes, maybe I could request one??? I go in the summer and like to freeze water bottles for the day to take with us---

You can turn it into a freezer by turning it all the way up. When we got there, we didn't notice and everything we put in there froze!!!

Ok my husband and I are thinking of taking another family trip this year to WDW because of the promo. We want to try something new and Wilderness Lodge looks Great to us. My question is.. How is the transportation, how are the buses and boats? Does it take a while to get to the other theme parks from here? Plus any suggestions on the resort would be good. We are still trying to decide resort!

We picked Wilderness Lodge with DXDDP!! I am so excited I can not wait to get there!!

I'm on the bike rental thing again. Do they have bikes with training wheels? and bikes with a back seat to put an 18 month old?

SOme one was telling me that those 4seaters are hard to pedal with only one gear. any experiences?

22 more days!! YEEE HAAAA!!

Just one note. I can't wait to go. We're taking my older brother. He hasn't been to Disney in 20yrs!!! I told him A LOT has changed!!!

What about shopping?
The large Wilderness Lodge Mercantile in the Lodge carries Disney themed clothing, sundries, camera supplies, postage stamps, beer & wine, foodstuffs, newspapers, and souvenirs. With the Villas just next door the Mercantile carries a larger selection of groceries then most Disney Gift Shops.
