What is the real difference between woods and courtyard view at WL? Is courtyard that much better. The change would cost $157.00 worth it?
I love both equally. It all depends on what you want from your stay. If saving money is your priority then go with the woods view. If you love the look of the CY so much that you will be disappointed if you don't get a room there, then it's worth it.
I have booked standard view rooms every time I have stayed at WL.
I've been upgraded to woods view once. You could see the monorail and fireworks from the balcony. (request 5th floor on the north wing)
I've also been upgraded to Courtyard View twice. I admit it is a great view.
I would avoid the 6th floor because half of it is enclosed balconies that make it so that you can not see the view unless you are standing on the balcony.
Hope this helps.

Been subscribed to this thread for quite a while, but have not read ALL of it.
Were doing our first stay at WL, 10 nights, this coming August. (Can't wait). I booked a standard room, as I thought the cost for even woods view was a little crazy. (compared to AKL last year, where I booked a pool view for a mere $10 more per night). Anyway, been reading about views here, and while I'm not that concerned with it, I don't want to be looking at a dumpster all week, LOL.
In regards to requests. I've been doing the on line check in since it became available. Would you suggest simply making a floor request, such as the one you mention above, when I do that, or calling to have a request note placed on the rezzie? Any experience, or difference anyone has noticed with that?
Thanks - and thanks again, for all the info in the thread in general!
Unfortunately you have to call CRO to put it on. It's not an option with online check-in.

I am having trouble wrapping my mind around a summer stay at WL - it appeals to me more as a holiday and/or winter resort. Anyone else feel this way? Just wonderin'!

It's my first stay at WL this May/June! I actually have little interest in visiting Disney during Christmas because I like the warm (and hot!) weather when I am there. But you have me concerned - is this only a winter resort??? I've always wanted to stay at WL and I picked it because they have the villas which I want to try. But I'm getting scaredTalk of bats, hot tub closings, slow transportation, so-so food choices, and a better 'winter' resort. Please reassure me that I've made a good choice!!!
Don't worry, WL is many people's favorite (like my DH) and I love it too. Is it perfect? NO. Nothing is. For me, it is as close as it gets. As for bats, Yes, they do live in Florida. They help get the bugs. I have lived in FL for many years. I have seen bats, BUT I have NEVER had one fly at me. As for the seasons, WL does all of them well. I love the Artists Point and found the other food options OK. Give it a try. You may really love it. If you don't, you can ask to be moved to any open room.![]()
I hit the double digits for when we arrive at WL!!!!

Does anyone have an ETA for when the hot tubs and geyser re-open? Thx
I heard this weekend, but I'm not sure if anyone is there right now to confirm.

I got my DME tags today for my trip in a few weeks. I have to admit that the tags looked strange but I could not put my finger on why.
I just realized what it was. They had a different color mickey(green) on them for the AK area(CSR). It sunk in that I'm not staying at WL. :-(
Now I'm depressed...

Our DME tags came yesterday too!!It will be our first stay at WL and I am so excited! DD will be too when she finds out, this is the resort she has been asking to try
That would be weird to have a green Mickey on the DME tags - we have always stayed at a MK resort except one time years ago, and we drove in that trip.
Have fun at CSR - now you can report back on how it compares to WL!![]()
