The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Is there a specific area or room I should requests???????
You might want to request "inner courtyard view" so that you will have a view of the WL's pool/geyser area. Some courtyard views can be of the VWL pool. If you also add "off lobby" you may be able to get a "bear-faced" room which directly faces the pool, BL and geyser.

You'll have to post a trip report to the CR thread when you get a chance.

Good luck!

My husband just surprised me with the BEST birthday present!! We're leaving Friday for three nights at Wilderness Lodge AND he got us tickets to the Very Merry Christmas party. How he kept it from me for 6 weeks I'll never know!
We've never stayed at WL before so this thread has me VERY excited. :cool1:

So exciting!!! Sounds like a very good time. :cool1:

Yule love it! ;)

I'm happy to report that discussions of WL's deterioration seem somewhat overblown. I'm not saying people haven't actually had issues, but I can report that the two rooms we're staying in are clean, well-appointed, in good shape, and have a great view of the higher fireworks from the MK. The plumbing works, the KTTW cards worked great from the first moment we got them thru today (and have 4 more days to go), and all the Dining Plan credits are working just great.

The tree in the lobby is beautiful (as usual) and there's garland and festive wreaths all over the place.

It's great; this is why we come to the WL.

Your report makes me even more excited! THX.

Here now and our room is great!

It's great reading the "live" reports. I'll be posting some next week:santa:

I am getting a surprise trip for DH (and me, not the surprised one) to WDW for our 40th anniversary, which is not until next Dec. 28th, 2011. When we were married they were just brand newly opened and we were not able to go there much as I had begged for. Anyway, fast forward to today been several times and I am a true blue Dis (green). So, it is natural to pick there to celebrate our 40 with their 40.

I am seriously looking at WL. We visited there to dine at WC and DH really seemed to like it. My questions are 1) Will I feel it romantic?? I like rustic and I liked the themed lobby, etc that I saw. But, will I feel the Disney romance there? 2) Since we would be there from 12/27 -1/2/2012 will they still have the holiday decorations up and what about NYE anything special to expect while there?

Thanks,
Cindy

We got back last night from a 5 day trip to WL!! We once again had a great experience there! After a horrid start to the trip from staying at POP the night before checking into WL, having bugs on our mattress in the first room, having a manager verbally attack me for questioning his clean/inspected rooms, to getting our luggage 2 hours after having to call to have it delivered 5 hours after our plane landed.

Needless to say from the moment we walked into the lodge, that night before was quickly forgotten! I requested Inner Courtyard Upper Floor. Our room wasn't ready but the CM told us it was on the 5th floor and pointed to the area we were in. We were in 5005. I told her of the horror at POP the night before, said I had not asked for a refund or resort change but simply a clean room and within 2 hours of checking into WL she had cookies/rice crispies + card sent to our room via room service for the trouble at POP. She also apologized several times for the way the manager treated us at the POP front desk. Our luggage was delivered within 10 mins of calling for it.

We had outstanding Mousekeeping the whole time, were always given more than enough bathroom supplies, extra towels, and got some cute towel animals too! We ate at WCC our first night and had great service from a server that we had in the past and enjoyed the other times we had her (Heada Lettuce)! The pool area was always cleaned and maintained as always. Although the weather was in the 40s by our last 2 days, we enjoyed the first few! The gift shop CMs were always great and friendly. I asked them to hold some things for me while I went to the room to get my AP for the discount and the CM did the discount without me having to go get it.

It just seemed that everything went so well at WL, every CM was friendly and magical, and it was what we expected! Enjoy your stay if you are going soon!!! As far as POP goes, we are very disappointed in the service we received when we've stayed there 4 other times in the past few years and raved at the level of service we got for a Value resort...I guess it was just a really bad off day for them!

What a great turnaround for you at the WL. It's great to hear about a trip that ended well, despite a very bumpy start. That one night must have seemed like an eternity.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Lodge and it sounds like you'd go back - to the Lodge that is, not Pop:sad2:

Thanks! Of course we will return to WL!! It was our 7th or 8th stay at the lodge since we first stayed there in the year 2000. They did not disappoint!

POP on the other hand...we're considering a moderate resort instead for a short March trip which is sad to say since we've stayed there a handful of other times and never had an issue. :sad2:

For a moderate, I'd recommend CSR. They're the only mod. with queen beds and a health club. But, you already know that, you were a CM;).

Have fun planning your next trip (that's half the fun)!

Congrats on a milestone anniversary! :lovestruc I am going on my first visit to WL in a month, so I don't know firsthand how romantic it is. However, I read all the guidebooks and they all say that WL is a very romantic hotel. There are lots of nooks to hideaway in and sitting in front of the fireplace with your loved one is always romantic

Good luck planning and I think you will be happy with the WL. The pictures on this site should help make up your mind!

After all the reading, looking at the pics and remembering the one time we went to the WC for dinner how my DH loved the place, I did it I have a reservation for our 40th anniiversary Dec. 2011!:cool1:

Now, I can sit back plan, and dream of how :hug:much we will enjoy this together. It is hard to believe that we will be there 40 years later, actually it is hard to believe that it has been 40 years! I don't feel a day older than I was then, and I was a mere girl of 18!:littleangel:

I am really excited and will be reading here for the next 12 months!

So excited for you. I hope your trip becomes everything you dream of!

I am really excited too! Hoping that we will still get to see the Christmas decorations, don't know when they take them down.

Not only will we celebrate our anniversary , we will be able to ring in the New Year! Double celebration.pixiedust:

I believe most of them stay up through New Years. I'll be there a week and a half later, so I expect everything to be gone. :-( But the crowds will be a lot lighter! Guess that is a good trade off!!!

Just finished changing/upgrading our upcoming late-January trip to WL! We had a wonderful 10-night stay at the YC in early December. It was our first time to WDW. We upgraded our DLR APs to Premier APs, and figured we should get some more use out of them before they expire in June. Found an incredible deal on airfare, so we're off! :woohoo: Jan 25-Feb 1, Courtyard View!

Decided on Deluxe Dining this time around, and we were going to stay at POFQ, but...with a majority of the signature restaurants being in the MK resort area, I secretly changed our ressie to WL. I think DH will be pleasantly surprised.

WL was one of the few resorts we didn't get to visit on our December trip (sad that we missed out on the Xmas decor), so this will be our first time seeing it. We've been to the Yellowstone NP lodges, and we've been to the Grand Californian hotel, so I'm thinking WL is somewhere in-between?

I've heard great things about WL, so I can't wait!

I hope it is a grand surprise ;-). From what I have seen it does look a lot like the Grand Californian, but I have never been there personally.
