Not sure if the current mugs will be the same, but when we went in 2008, it was really difficult to get rid of the coffee taste/smell in the mugs. We thankfully kept using the same two for the coffee and the kids used theirs for the other kinds. Poweraid and coffee just don't mix. This time we will only use the one mug. DH can go get his own after I finish. :rotfl2:

That is funny, you are so right, I never use my coffee travel mug for anything but coffee, but thanks for letting me know. I wonder if hot cocoa makes it smelly (not that we are considering hot cocoa in August). I am hoping that between the coffee supplied in our room, and the coffee and filters I plan to bring DH and I will have enough and not have to use our refillable mugs for coffee. But I know that the kids will want cold drinks late in the evening, so hopefully the RF will be open late into the evening.

:woohoo: I found my directory of services from WL.

Roaring Forks Snack Bar
Breakfast - 6am to 11am
Lunch/Dinner - 11am to Midnight (grill open 7am to 11pm)

I wouldn't think the times would be much different than that.

I always try too book standard view room as my first choice, after staying in every room from standard to concierge I enjoy any room at the Lodge so views aren't that important to me. When I book a Standard View I request North Wing, 6th floor, near the elevator.

I have been on my balcony and heard the delivery trucks. (only the beeping sound while the trucks were in reverse) While in my room with the door closed I didn't hear any external noise coming from the loading docks. The views of the fireworks and the castle at night more than make up for the beeping.

Great. Thats what I was thinking as well - while one day maybe I'll appreciate the views, for now, we'll just appreciate having a space to sit out thats away from a room with sleeping toddler, so we don't have to whisper a conversation in the dark to each other for our "alone" time at night! This was one of the reasons we decided to upgrade to deluxe after our initial decision of CBR - gonna call tonight!!

Hi, all ~ was reading through all the info on the first page and wondering if anyone knows of a map (or other info) with HC VWL Studio room locations?
I do have a map of the Villas with villa locations, it doesn't show rather they are accessable rooms due to privacy. They are spread out through the Villas. If you are asking so you will know what to request for your villa location you can't go wrong with (near the Atrium & Elevators)

Just click on the link below for the map:

Villas @ Wilderness Lodge Room/Villa Locations:

I have heard that the lodge has very few Standards that overlook the lobby. Is this true and does anyone have specific room numbers to request?

This information is from my post on Page 1, post #2. To request these rooms you should ask for Standard View room, 4th floor, off the Lobby, not a specific room #. The link below will show you a basic lay-out of these rooms.

Standard View rooms located off the Lobby: (Southside)

There are only 9 standard view rooms located directly over the Check-in (Southside of lodge) area on the 4th floor and open to the main Lobby. While all of these rooms have outside balconies the views are of the roof peaks. Guests have also complained of noise coming from Whispering Canyon Café while staying in these rooms.

Wilderness Lodge Room #'s and Locations

These rooms also have easy access to an alcove with a fireplace and reading area just over the front doors, a large outside veranda over the front entrée of the lodge plus a great alcove and balcony overlooking Bay Lake. Looking on the map Wilderness Lodge room #’s and locations these rooms would be room # 4091-4099.

subbing to be able to come back and finish! Thanks for this thread and all the hard work it took to establish it. We are going for the first time in Oct. and I just can't wait!! :cool1:

Hot chocolate smell stays inside the mugs also. I did not notice the iced tea being a problem, I guess its just the hot drinks that stick around.

We'll be back in 99 days - our first trip in 2 years! I can't wait!!

About when in november does the wl put up the christmas decorations? Thxs Matt

About when in november does the wl put up the christmas decorations?
Historically the Lodge is decorated sometime during the third week of November (14th-17th) about a week before Thanksgiving.

Just called to change my reservation - all standard rooms booked :(. Back to the dawing board.

Did they have Woods View? (no bunkbeds)

To be honest I don't know - he gave me quoted prices for the next 2 "cheapest" options and they were significantly more than I was expecting it to be - like 150-200 bucks more than what I had thought the WL Standard was gonna run me (which was 250 above what we had booked CBR for).

So we're back in brainstorming mode.

Are your dates flexible? Like can you arrive a day earlier or later? That may help with finding you a standard view room.

What are your dates? Sorry if I missed that in a previous posting.

All the std rooms were gone when my t.a. booked ours too, we had to 'settle' for woods view. It comes out to 195.00/nt. 15.00/nt more than std. I figured it's worth it.
If your dates are flexible then try again! YOu never know!! And I would keep trying anyway as people make resv. and then xcl! :)
good luck!!:wizard:

We just returned from the WL. The stay was ok. The CMs we encountered were not the nicest we've had. While we were upgraded (no choice) from 2 Woods rooms that we requested connecting (due to an infant travelling with us so we wouldn't need 2 cribs) anyway we were told the Courtyard views had NO connecting rooms in the hotel (with queen bed) We did have the 2 courtyard view rooms probably as far from the food court as we could have been (6th floor looking at quiet pool) We would have rathered the rooms we booked if connecting and somewhat closer. It was VERY difficult to get a pack and play. When we were told the rooms weren't connecting we told the CM that we would need a pack and Play in each room. Well, we finally got 1 after a day! We never got the other although we requested it 4 times. Gave up after that wasted time. The rooms were clean but not perfect. I did find a few peanuts in my daughter's room on the floor and some in the drawers. Dangerous since we had a 1 1/2 yr old with us. The week of housekeeping was fine. Some days soap and shampoo some not. Also, the oddest and thing I disliked most was on the day we were leaving at about 7:45 am or so I was walking back to my room and saw housekeeping standing my my door knocking, no carts or cleaning supplies in the hall. I said that I wasn't checked out yet and she asked if it was my room. Yes, it was and I have no clue why she was there. Hadn't checked out and no supplies. Any questions please ask.

Also, while there, I wanted to change our week after thanksgiving reservation to the bounceback rate (5% more than the PIN) When I called it was really a pain (I called from the room ext 8844) They at first wouldn't do it. The CM wanted my reservation for Nov I gave it to her and then wanted me to describe the flyer (weird) I had the code (actually we received emails while there for the bounce back offer) Then after about 15 minutes on the phone almost arguing about getting the bounceback rate, she wanted my current reservation number. I didn't have it in front of me since we had already checked in and I left the printout at the desk, she said she called WL and got it (another 5 minutes) My daughter did the same the next day with no problem. I guess it all depends on who you get and what mood they're in.

I actually posted this on the main board and didn't think about posting it here. Does anyone know if you always get a solid balcony while staying CL at the WL? I really do not like those things. I don't need a deluxe room, just a regular room.

I appreciate any insight anyone has (even though I think I know the answer).
:sad2:

Esmerelda
Due to the architectural design of the Lodge all the rooms on the 7th floor (other than the suites) do have the dormer balconies.

Don't give up all hope of a open balcony, I have heard that once you book a CL room you may/should be able to request a room on another floor, you would still check-in on the 7th floor and they will assign your room but your room keys would have access to the 7th floor just like the deluxe rooms that are located on different floors. Just make your reservations and talk to the IPO.

Good Luck.

How do I make room requests if I have already booked? We will be at WL July 19. Thanks for your help.
