After our lunch at Tiffins, we hopped to Epcot for our Guardians ILL, and then to MK for a spin on HM, and the Carousel of Progress. When that was done, we found ourselves a nice spot on Main Street in the shade by the Emporium, and then a Cavalcade came by before the main event.
Marie!
Jill’s parents joined us at our spot, and we waited about 20 more minutes until finally the Main Event that we had been waiting for happened! Jill’s niece and nephew’s Marching Band!
After the parade, we walked to the bus stop with Jill’s parents until we had to split up for our separate resorts. We were able to make it back to AKL before they stopped serving Happy Hour (whatever they call the 5-7 savory servings), so we made dinner out of what they had on offer. There was some chicken and corn chowder, tamarind meatballs, cheese and crackers, a spoon filled with pearl cous cous and some shrimp, and carrot slices.
We went back to the room. Jill played on her tablet while I caught up on the TR. All this activity and I was days behind logging what we actually did. We eventually went down to the Mara and got some Zebra Domes.
If you’re not familiar with Zebra Domes, here is a cross section.
At just after 8PM we went back to the CL to get desserts, but we never actually ended up eating them, except for my mickey Ice Cream Sandwich, I ate it after my tub before falling asleep to help ensure I went to sleep. Ice cream always puts me to sleep so it was easy.
Here’s my stats for the day.
I woke up for a bit during the night but was eventually able to go back to sleep until around 7AM where I saw the last sunrise of the trip.
We wanted to get going around 9AM so we both got up and dressed and began packing our last minute items.
We went to breakfast just after 8AM. This morning they had sausages instead of bacon. So I had some fruit, and yogurt parfait.
Before 9AM we had all our bags ready and the Owner’s locker all sealed up. Bell Services took a while to get there, but once he arrived, he was super energetic and got our bags on the cart swiftly. Jill left to get the car as soon as he got there and he beat her downstairs.
We loaded up the car, and headed to the airport, via a gas station where we spent less than $12 filling up the tank. Honestly this car cost us almost the same as the Mears motor coach and we had the flexibility to pick up our own groceries (saving the service charge from a shopping service), and we were able to move our own luggage from one resort to the other avoiding the delays imposed by Disney. The only disappointing thing was that we don't think they refrigerated the bag that we asked them to put in the refrigerator. I had milk in there and that milk was kind of funky. Luckily we didn't need to use any of it since we had a supply of food outside our door. Had we not been staying concierge, I would have been very unhappy.
We got to the airport and returned the car by about 10AM and we were checking our bags by 10:45AM. It was too early for the regular ticket counter to take our bags so we had to drop them off at a special room adjacent to the drop off counter.
We were through the fake o rail by 11 o'clock and both of us were getting hungry. We decided on Cask and Larder which was a sit down place in the hub of the satellite terminal area. They served adult beverages and sandwiches and such.
I went with the kids grilled Ham and Cheese. Even for a kids portion it was HUGE! The server told me that it wouldn't come with a beverage, but I informed her that I wanted a completely different beverage than what came with the kids offering!
Jill got chicken tenders with BBQ and Ranch dipping sauces. It wasn't anything special, but I think it was a tiny step up from the counter service style places that had HUGE lines, and I got to enjoy an adult beverage. Plus my Entree was actually cheaper than the QS option I was looking at.
Then we headed to the gate. I got my computer out cause we still had an hour until we were boarding. I got closer to being caught up on my notes, but still wouldn't finish them until I got home.
We ended up with some obnoxious kids on the flight. One sat in front of Jill and insisted on slamming themselves backwards into the seat while her tray table was down. Another wailed the entire time as we landed and even afterwards. I did feel bad for the family cause obviously their children had difficulties. They were wearing Make a Wish T-shirts.
After we landed I walked Jill to the midpoint of the terminal where she would be going to retrieve her luggage and be on the way home. We said goodbye until next month, and then I walked another 40 something gates to where my flight would board. We landed at like 28 and I had to go to 62. The Amex Centurion Lounge was at about 46 and I only had 40 minutes until boarding when we exited our flight from Orlando. So no time to take advantage of that.
I barely had enough time to pick up this delicacy at a store in that part of the terminal.
That part of the terminal is all new and still has no restaurants or bars. They have some promising eateries coming, but I need to remember that if I pass Vino Volo, currently there are no other options for adult beverages until I get on the plane.
I ordered a Vodka Tonic on the plane with my free beverage coupon.
When we landed in Long Beach, Jim picked me up and took me home. This would be the last time for a while, as he had both his knees replaced back in April. He attended his first social function just last weekend, a pool party at my house. Again the kitties were very happy to see me when I got home.
I'll be back at Walt Disney World in December! Look for a link here for that Trip Report!
I'll also be on a Westbound Transatlantic Cruise on the Dream in October, and there will surely be a TR on that one, it should be epic! Until then you check out my adventures in Bavaria and Austria here.
