After reading a thread about August, I can't help myself by being the FIRST one to start the " Who's Going in August thread !!!"

Yes, I know its still 6 months away. But when you're stuck with 10 inches of snow on the ground and temps hovering around 15...what else is there to think about.

We will be at POR from August 12 to August 22.
Is tomorrow August 12th ????????????

When will you be there and where are you staying ???

Well, I have a reservation made for Aug. 9-14, but I'm still not sure this trip is going to happen. We'll see how the finances go! I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I failing miserably.

We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge from 8/14-8/20. We started planning this trip in August, 2002, so I don't think you are rushing things by posting this email!

We'll be there with 20 other people July 31-August 7 at PC! I'm so excited! I've been wondering when someone would start this thread! Have a great time everyone!::yes::

:wave2: :earseek: :wave2: :earseek:

As you can see from my signature this is a big celebration trip! I took my hubby to Disney for his 30th birthday & now he is returning the favor! (I'll be 30 on 08/16)!!!

We will be there from 08/07 - 08/17, besides my 30th birthday we will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary (12/03) and my graduation from college (12/16) - We didn't want to celebrate during the week of Christmas so instead we are going during my birthday!

I will finally be able to get my "It's my Birthday Today" Pin  !!!

I haven't even returned from my first trip for 2004 and I've already got the next one booked for August 7-15 at AKL and Royal Pacific Club.

We are booked to go August 16-21. I have been told that we are crazy to go in August because of the heat and humidity plus it is during hurricane season. I don't know if this is true or not. I have only been to Floriday once when I was 7 (now in my 30's) who knows maybe they are jealous types because we are going and they are not!! :hyper: Anyhow, can someone give some insight into going in August???? We have until June to change our reservations if we decide to.

Woo hoo!!! I've been waiting for someone to start the August thread! We'll be in Florida for 17 glorious days. We arrive 8/12 and will be staying near MCO at the Embassy Suites for 1 night. On 8/13 we get up bright and early to catch a limo to the BC and plan on doing a park (or two) the first day. We check on the morning of 8/22 and head on RPR at Universal for a 4 day stay. Then we check out on the morning of 8/26 and head to Miami where we'll be for an additional 4 days. Do I sound excited? Nah! BTW, this is our first trip to WDW and Universal.:D

:bounce: I'll be staying at WL for 10 glorious days:bounce:
We leave on 8/18/04. I'm finally under 200 days, I'm sooo excited. This trip has been in the planning stages since I got back from our last trip in 12/02.Down side is I'm running out of stuff to plan. Can't wait to start making PS arrangements!

P.S. I'd kill for 15 degree weather!!:p

I am going Aug 9-16th to either the POR or the WL depending on codes/AP rates! Can't wait.

Already have HDDR booked for Aug. 11th! Yay!!!!

QueenMichelle, I'm having the same problem playing the waiting game with most of the planning having been done already. I've been planning this trip since mid 2002 but made our reservations 12/02. Just last week I started buying summer clothes and bought a set of luggage for myself and need to get some for hubby and my 3 boys. Now that we're only six mionths away I'm getting butterflies in my stomach. This trip is costing us lots of $$$$. Oh well, we're going to WDW!!!

We should be leaving home (driving first time) on 8/20 and possible check in at one of the value resorts late on 8/21. We then check in- at OKW for 10 nights 8/22-9/104. Can't wait.

We will be at WDW August 17-24 -- Finally made a firm decision to go back to the Poly, unfortunately all the Concierge rooms available with the DV 7 for 4 package were already snapped up by others on this post!! Well, I guess my indecision got the better of us. Now we are just hoping for a pretty view (aren't they all) and a balcony!

My husband and I will be there for our 1 year anniversary Aug. 3-10 !!!! We are staying at PORFQ!!! VERY EXCITED!!!:earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

We'll be at WDW 8/21-8/28 -- staying at either the BWV or OKW with our newly purchased DVC points (we close this week and I can't wait to make our reservations!). then we're doing the 7-day Western Caribbean cruise. It's our 20th anniversary this summer and we wanted to celebrate. We're driving down from NY for the first time, usually we fly but wanted to save $ on the airfare and rental car to offset the long stay. I too hope we can bear the weather everyone warns me about. Thing is, it's hot and humid in NY too at that time, but Blizzard Beach isn't here!

Me too :Pinkbounc Me too :Pinkbounc !!!! We're going back on Aug. 13-21. Our first trip "Home" to BWVs. Can not wait. Yes, it's going to be hot and humid. Don't care. For the first time we'll be buying APs also. We're planning our 2005 trip now. 1 week at BWV and then 5 nights at VB. All in August again!! Hurry up summer!!!!!

UNIVERSAL RPR AUG. 28-30
DISNEYS WL AUG 30-SEPT 6TH

I CAN'T WAIT, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I AM GOING IN AUGUST WE USUALLY GO 4TH OF JULY WEEK.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT TIME, I WILL

We'll be there at the same time as you kinggoofy! And some of you others as well!

For the earlier poster who asked what to expect in august here goes:

Our family went in August of 2001 and it was great. We had been advised that it would be very rainy in the afternoons, so we planned accordingly. The weather was wonderful. Only rained a few times, mostly just a light misty rain. The only time it actually stormed was the day we were leaving while we waited for the car to pick us up to take us to the airport. (Lightning struck in the parking lot while we watched! Cool, but scary!)

Definately take rain ponchos, but don't let the rain stop you from having a fun time in the parks.

And drink lots of water while you're there. Because when it's not raining, it is pretty hot. Wear a hat to protect you from the sun and take sunscreen.

We never took an afternoon break from the heat, but it's not a bad idea.

August is a great time to go in my opinion!

I have read alot about concerns about the August rain / heat.
Last August...it RAINED AND RAINED AND RAINED AND RAINED...well you get the point. And if you were there, you know what I mean.

The rain mainly started about 3PM and went all night. It was the worst we have seen since we have been going. If we got that much rain here in Chicago over that period of time our house would be floating down the street.

Pack the ponchos and umbrellas. BUT it will never stop us.
We have never been affected by a hurricane.

It is hot and humid. But unless you have a health problem..WHO CARES.

One of the posters (either here or another post ) wanted to know about AP rates.

There will be AP rates. Usually they are about $89 - $94 per night - room only - for POR and other moderates.

Actually I called WDW last night....the promotion they have now runs till April 17th or so.

There is also a site..I think Mousesavers , that has the historical AP rates.

Last year we had the comeback rate..BAQ.
Then the AP rate came out. I may be wrong, but I thought the AP rate came out sometime around May last year.

If this new promo ends 4/17....there will probably be one more
covering from 41/7 to June or so. Then the late summer AP rate comes out.

From what I have expreienced , the rate I mentioned above is what the rate would be. Unless WDW raises the price.

In 02, we booked our Thanksgiving trip on July 22, 2002 and got POR for $89 per night. Last year I think AP rates for Thanksgiving came out in August.

I went mid Aug. last year and the rain made a few apperances, but nothing too bad untill our last evening there. I have never seen rain so hard. There was a tornado watch issued, and I heard of several power outages throughout the park.

For the most part though the rain never lasted for more than an hour. Pack ponhos and umberellas and have fun!
