to see Harry Potter today.. 3 had read the books, 3 had not.. I have to say, I was one who did not read it, but will now.. It was incredible. I loved it.. At the end of the movie, people applauded.. I love Maggie Smith and Richard Harris. and Alan Richtman(sp), Zoe Wanamaker.. was also in it. The special effects were terrific.. I know you all love magic, so do not miss this one..

Thanks for the review Mackey...I promised I would take Kassie to it....She has read all of the books three times...Yikes! I have read only book 1 and two....it really does look awesome!!! Will make a point of making some mom, daughter time to go this week.

Harry Potter should be required reading for all muggles! I can't wait to see the movie. I have read all the books, multiple times! The movie trailers make me want to go so bad! It is extra busy for my DH husband now, he is a baker and work is nuts. So we will go when I get back from Dis-Con. Something to look forward to after all the fun at discon!

Great review Marsha!

I bought all the HP books for my grandson and told him I wanted to read them when he finished. I don't know whether he's done with them or not and I keep forgetting to ask. I want to take my DGS and DGD to see the movie, but it will have to wait until we return from DIS Con as we leave on Friday morning and there isn't enough time before we go.

I was so happy to get 4 tickets for the premiere today! I thought that I would have to go first to the US to see the movie, but they decided to release it here next Friday. I get premiere tickets often. DD, 7, is getting obnoxious about that. This week on the thursday holiday, she went to the movies with her dad to see Cats and Dogs. "It was nice", she said, "but it wasn't a premiere". It was fun. They got free popcorn and soda, balloons, a magic wand and a bag of all-flavor beans. I liked the movie all right, but was so concerned about my discomfort that I couldn't really enjoy it.
I love the books. I brought them to Brazil soon after # 2 was released in the US. I got my #4 through amazon.com advance pucharsing. It was in my hands 5 days after release in the US. I was probably the first Brazilian to read the whole thing :D  :D
The interesting thing is that I read #1 to my children translating it from English. This was my pet trick on my trips to WDW: I would keep them entertained while waiting in line just telling them the story, almost hypnotized. :D :D :D

Because we have no family local enough to visit with for Thanksgiving, our traditional Thanksgiving is dinner out and a movie. The movie of choice this year is Harry Potter! The previews look great. Thanks for the review, Marsha!

I go see it in 7 days (bought tix in advance). Thanks for the review, Marsha. I hear it's awesome.

Thanks for the review, Marsha. I haven't read the books yet but they're on my list of things to read that I just haven't gotten to yet (maybe because lately I'm always here on the DIS when I have time :D ) We don't go to the movies very often, but I think this one will be a definitely must see - after DIS-CON.

We just got back from seeing it. It was great. I haven't read the books but they are definitely next on my reading liost! I can't wait for them to make the other books into movies. It was one of those movies where it seems like it is over in 10 minutes even though you have been sitting there for over 2 hours. The overall consensus of our group (most who have read the books) was that they did an excellent casting job for all characters (my favorite was Robbie Coltrane). and that the movie is a great hit.

I've read all of the books so far and went to see the movie on opening night.
I LOVED IT !!!!!
I am ready to go again (and again)!!
I think Snape (Alan RIckman) is terrific!

Glad you liked it Marsha! But shame on your for not reading the book! ;)
We went to see it last night with 2 of our friends. Me, Brian, and Peggy read the book but Kenny didn't finish it and now I hope he does.
I cannot wait for book 5 and to see the 2nd movie (which is filming right now).
Most of it was exactly how I pictured it to look like, except for platform 9 3/4.
Quidditch was unbelievable! I wish I could play!
The actors were perfect for their parts. I love Ron and Hermione and Snape.
Did you hear that Richard Harris (Dumbledore) refused the part the first time around? His granddaughter, who is the love of his life, said to him "Papa, if you do not play Dumbledore, I will never speak to you again" Isn't that hysterical!

We also went last night with my 17 yo. He wanted to go but wouldn't admit to his friends so we went to 10:00pm show on Sunday night. He napped before - 6am comes around quick for school.
We loved it. I am a huge Alan Rickman & Rob Coltrain fan - they were the big reason to go. I guess I'll have to read the books.

I am bringing book 1 with me to DisCon.. Hopefully it will keep me interested on the plane so I do not freak out.. Deep breathing here.

I am also bringing book 1 for the plane and reading while on holidays.

I have not read the books either... but I did take my sister and Caitlyn to see it. I was suprised how much Caitlyn enjoyed it... at 3 years old I thought it might be too scary, She LOVED it... and now wants a Harry Potter doll for Christmas. I thought the movie was pretty good... kinda along the same line as the Never Ending Story when it first came out:)

I'm glad that you enjoyed the movie. I may see it tomorrow. I wish that I had read the book before seeing the movie.
