The who will be there in March 2009 thread

We will be on our vacation from March 8-15th.
We are staying at the knotts resort from the 8th-13th and then I just found out my sister may be coming down on the 13th so we are looking to add on our trip and find another hotel from the 13-15th. We are also going to legoland for one day and knotts for one day and the rest is ALL disney! My ds is going for his 5th birthday on the 11th!!! We are getting our first AP's so I am excited to say the least. I am ready to go!

I don't want to post inaccurate data....and i got a little confused......can you guess the exact days you would be at DLR ? If it is still up in the air I can post that :)

I will be there with my DH and 17 year old DD March 29-April 3. We are driving from WA (we usually fly) and staying at HoJos for the first time. Everyone raves about HoJos and, with the entertainment rate for 4 out of our 5 nights, we could not pass it up. This will be the last spring break we will have with our daughter since she will be heading off to college in the fall. We both teach, and our spring break will not be the same as hers.

Anyone else celebrating a birthday in March, at Disney land I think I have read 2 others besides myself, mine is the 19th.

Happy Birthday one day after me!!!

Mine is on the 18th!!! Maybe anyone else who has a bday, we should do the Mickey bday party at the Plaza! I can't lie, I love it!! With the host Pat-E-Cake!!! Who doesn't love cake and a chance to see mickey without all the lines! WAHOO.

We will be there from March 27th-29th. Im way too excited :yay:

I havn't been since June 2005. && it will be DS[3] first time. DH hasn't been since 2001 && he hated it!! He's a parry pooper so Im doing everything I can to make him enjoy this trip. I make him watch the Vacation Planning Guide likes it's a regular movie!! HAHA.

Everyone who is going, enjoy your trips =]

Making a "quick" 2 week trip back to Southern California from Australia in March, my fiance and I attempting to make a day or two available for a trip to Disneyland. Here's hoping.

My first trip to DL (Have been to WDW 17 times) but am really excited about seeing the "first" park.
My daughter and I will be there Mar 30 - Apr 2nd Stopping at HoJo's

Any tips?

Congrats on your first trip to DL... HOORAY!!! There are tons of thread with trip and tricks for first timers. I read about one yesterday something about doing DL for WDW veterans. I'll see if I can find it, I'm sure someone will post the link if not.

Keep in mind, this park is MUCH smaller than WDW. There is not even a comparision. I'm a Disneyland girl, don't get me wrong, I love WDW, but to me ...DL is the original, its Walts vision, and it feels just a little more magical.

Let us know what kind of tips or hints you want. You can PM me if you'd like, I love helping anyone with DL stuff!! Have a great time!

Thanks hawky7 for the warm welcome :goodvibes

Just wondering how to tour DCA now that things are changing there?

Is there a Welcome Opening show before rope drop?
(I love the one at MK in WDW, where the characters arrive on the train)

I have started reading the sticky's at the top of this forum and have learned lots already (Hydro Guy has some awesome info)

Was just looking for anything that a veteran DL person would advise a "newbie" to do (or not do)

i.e. I would tell someone going to MK not to bother doing "Stitch" as the consensus is that it isn't worth the time, but to definately do Festival of the Lion King show as it's a must see.

Thanks for your kind offer, I may well PM you if I'm unsure about a certain attraction :thumbsup2

We just booked our trip to Disneyland March 24-28 at Howard Johnson's. We will be in the California area at the beach a few days before though. We are so excited!! :goodvibes

Anyone know when the March/April calendar will be up on the Disneyland.com website?

No problem!!! Okay, well let me tell you what the best things are that are NOT available at WDW.

1) Indiana Jones (its a ride in DL, like Dinosaur at AK in WDW, but way better)

2) The Matterhorn, its pretty bumpy so hang on tight, and go on it at night, the view is great!

3) Space Mountain. Yes I know there is one at WDW but.... the one at DL was totally gutted out and completely redone like 3 and 1/2 years ago, and its way way faster and darker. The ride is fairly similiar, but not the same.

4) Aladdin Show, if it is playing you MUST go!!! it is Broadway material. I have seen it at least 15 times, and it is just the best!

Tons more, but those are my fav.

As far as to skip, if you aren't a fan of the HSM movies, please by all means skip the parade...It drives me nuts!

A few other things you could have skipped at DCA they have removed. Overall most everything is worth going to. If they've got the Electrical Light Parade back at that time you MUST go to that. Its way way better than Spectromagic, and if you want a REALLY fun experience during that, BOO really really loud at the Step Sisters when their float goes by...its hilarious, I've had them stick out there tongues and once they started yelling back at us. Its classic.

Hope that helps a little!!

Thanks again hawky7 :goodvibes

Will definately do all the attractions you've mentioned (other than HSM - I know it bugged me too last time at WDW - too loud!!!)

And will keep a lookout for the Step-sisters ;)

Have a great day :)

I am heartsick because we will miss my son's birthday by ONE day! His is the 14th and we have to home by the morning of the 16th for my and DH's jobs, so there is just no way we can swing it. We'll be having his birthday breakfast within spitting distance and then leaving for the drive home to Oregon....(sigh) So close and yet so far!

Me, DB 15 and DB 14 will be there March 24th-28th for DB15 big 16th birthday :cool1: . He officially doesn't turn 16 until April 7th so we'll miss the birthday fun card, but this was the only time we could get away.
