The "When will Disney make the Kingdom Towers official announcement" thread...

This thread has been heavily edited due to discussion of banned DIS'er(s) and also circumventing the word filter. This serves as the warning and further posting of this will result in infraction points. Thank you all for your compliance.

I'm confused. Webmaster kathy says you can discuss banned DIS'ers, but you say you can't.

Which way is it?

Hi, guys! Thought I might jump in to try to clarify a couple of things.

For the poster who asked what might precipitate being banned or to no longer be allowed to participate here, the truth is that you have to work at it pretty hard. Lovetoscrap posted a link to our posting guidelines. They basically say no fighting, no advertising, no profanity. Outside of repeatedly or outrageously doing one of those things, a poster has to be pretty rude or disruptive to be banned.

There's no problem with mentioning a poster who no longer posts here or has been banned, any more than mentioning an active poster would be. Actually, I don't think that there's any way for most posters to know who's been banned or who hasn't. I think the confusion about this comes in because some conversations about banned posters have turned into arguments or led to other rudeness toward other posters or even our moderators, and those things are problems.

We won't get into discussions about why any specific poster has been banned. That's really between that poster and the webmasters here, and there's no need to publicly debate it or to embarrass any of the people involved. Even posters who no longer post here deserve to be treated with dignity.

Hope this helps answer some questions!

To post on the original topic, I think the announcement will be made very soon. If Disney isn't ready to announce, why would they get licensed for sales now? I don't think they would risk letting the cat out of the bag to sit on the announcement for another six months. IIRC, AKV was announced in late October or early November of 2006. Its license was approved on September 27, 2006. I'm guessing the announcement is planned for May at the latest. :goodvibes

disney did not want to announce AKV when they did - it was like this too many people demanding to buy it - when DVC wasn't ready.

In no particular order here are some answers:

Those comments quoted by Webmaster Kathy were made in a thread on the CB - NOT on the DVC Boards after a mod (ie me) had already given a warning about staying on topic. Feel free to visit the CB if you would like to enjoy their threads there. But here on the DVC Boards, we do not allow discussions of banned DIS'ers as I stated before.

I wish CarolC would chime in here. She hasn't responded to my post either.

I just returned home from work - I left home 13 hours ago, so it is always a long day for me. Please take that into account when looking for responses from me or any other particular moderator or webmaster.

Thanks for the info......would be very  if I got an "infraction" for doing something I didn't know I did!!!!!!!!

But, I think we're :offtopic:

Can we go back to speculating on an announcement?? ;)
When you signed up to post on the DIS you agreed to adhere to the Posting Guidelines which includes the rules on infractions. For those who need a refresher, please click on the link to review.

Can you elaborate about banned dis'ers, word filter, and infraction points? First I have heard about any of this.

See answer above.

Any other off topic questions should be addressed via email or PM to the Moderators. We ask (as others have above) that the topic of this thread be adhered to. Thank you.

CarolAnn, I need to mention that I think mods are the nicest most lovely people on the planet!! <hoping for bonus points>:yay:

I thought AKV was announced when I was actually in Disney at the time. That was early December '06.

I recall overhearing a table of guests next to me at Big River Grille talking about it and checking online here for confirmation. When I spoke to my guide the next week about a SSR add-on, he asked me if I didn't just want to wait for AKV. I figured it would be a few months before the points went on sale and the price would all be too high. By the end of January GB had posted the prospective point charts here and the thing went on sale to members in another month. (All that Founders' Tapestry business.)

True DISboards beat the actual Disney brochures but not by more than a week or so.

Meanwhile, Hawaii and GCV were announced mid last year and we've yet to see anything regarding point charts or cost. A lot more is coming about about KTR, even without the official marketing announcement.

And of course, the DIS has had their fingers on the architectual renderings for over a year. Back when they were just "removing asbestos" from the North Garden Wing IIRC.

Thus far my guide has denied all knowledge of CRV, insists he has no "list" of members to call when they start selling

Once the cat is outta the bag via major announcement, exactly when will we be able to purchase an interest?popcorn::

Does any guide have a list yet?

I sure hope they learn from their AKV mistakes and do get everything ready for both KTV and GCV, before they start selling points.

the guides have a future list.

it is up to the guide to remember what they put you on their future list for....

can't believe it is actually going to happen!!!

Hmmmm.

I guess my experience with AKV was different than that of others.

For me, I remember they made the announcement that AKV was being built, but it was not for sale yet, just as they have made the announcement for GCV and Hawaii.

Then, in January, I received the mailing from DVC with the points charts, purchase incentives (tapestry, discount for 100+ point purchases), as well as drawings and such. I remember it gave a definite date for when sales would begin for current owners (in February), and for the general public (a month or so later, if I recall correctly).

When sales commenced, I bought, and it was a done deal.

So, my question is: what do previous posters mean when they speak about all the trouble with AKV sales, and hoping that DVC has "everything" ready before they make an annoucement? :confused3

To me, AKV sales went as advertised. So if they announce KTR's construction, but also announce a 2009 date (say) for the beginning of sales, isn't that how it should work? :confused3

Your recollection about the AKV timetable is the same as mine and SSR was very similar too where the resort was announced well before sales began in August, 2003 and the resort opened - one-building-at-a-time - in May, 2004.

The original projection for the AKV opening was September 1, 2007 - but that was moved up to July 1, 2007 when they were able to push the construction schedule ahead. Sales did begin om February 1, 2007 for current members and then opened to the public in March (at $101 plus incentives) to coinside with a price increase to $104 (also with incentives available).

Did the incentive for 100+ points at AKV, include somone who wanted 50 + 50 point contracts?
