Some folks like to purchase this way so that if they need to sell off a small portion, they can. Since you can't sell a partial contract, this allows them to sell in 50 point increments. Another major reason people like to do this is to will, or gift, the seperate contracts to multiple children. This way, if you had four children, you could leave one contract to each.
