Ladies! You and your maybe children are killing me! :lmao:

I see the CHristmas shopping and wrapping are getting all finished :thumbsup2 I got most of Kady's gifts online this morning. SHe is getting thing so I got her stuff to go with. I doubt she is on here but am taking no chances :rolleyes1 Marisa laughed when i said I might have to step foot into a store, which I really hate! Anyway I got some good buys I think. I have to find one thing from Buddy. He always gives her something special just from him and I have not found it yet.

I will wrap this weekend.............actually I generally put as much into gift bags from the Job Lot that I can. That helps me see what I need to finish.

Dinner is going to be leftovers from the turkey dinner the other night. I hear Buddy coming intot eh driveway so BBL!

Jen - Don't forget to let me know how the cookie brittle is, ok? I'm really interested in that!

I am about to get up and make 'em, so I'll let you know.

lindsay,

just wanted to say "Thank You" again for making it so easy to find the recipes in the Index....

I wanted to find something that I remembered on here awhile back and went to first page and there it was...

Worked like a charm...

Thanks again,

I second that. :thumbsup2

::yes::

Forgive me for not getting caught up with everyone here. I'm completely brain dead. All these days of staying home and being glued to the computer are killing me. I need some 3D human interaction, which I will be getting starting later today.

Right now I'm stocking up on large meats for the freezer. Hams are on sale for less than $1 per pound, Roast Beef is under $5 pp. Fran might even go out later today with me since most stores have a limit of one. Thinking meatballs and mushroom sauce for dinner. Easy comfort food.

Hope you're in the midst of some great human interaction. :goodvibes

Well, our dinner plans changed. Alan has to go to one of the local universities to return some books he checked out, and so we decided to pile all the kids in the car and take them with us. Once we're done at the library, we'll head to the Creamery. This University makes the most creamy, delicious ice cream, so we are going to treat the kids to a Christmas ice-cream treat! I think they'll be really excited.

So, dinner is going to be chicken tortilla soup I got at Costco this morning.

I have spent the afternoon wrapping presents, and found that I'm only short 2 presents. One for Timmy and one for Jacob. Alan and I will knock those presents out really quickly on our date Saturday, and I will be done. Of course, I now have to charge up the MP3 players we got for a couple of the kids, and load Katie's Kindle. But that I can do once the kids go to bed. They are out of school for the rest of December starting tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going to have to be more crafty. I really need to go through the stocking stuffers that I have and begin to separate them to make the whole process easier on Christmas Eve. Alan doesn't ever help... other than to make sure that kids stay in their beds. He just doesn't like the whole "making magic" aspect of the holiday. However, he's really good at filming the magic on Christmas morning, so I'll forgive him. Truth be told, I'd rather just do it myself, as I have a picture in my head of how I want things to look, and he'd really just mess it all up!

Your evening sounds fun! :cool1:

J gets out tomorrow too! What are we going to do all month? :scared1:

Update for dinner! There was a sale on Dungeness Crabs when I bought my Rib Roasts and Half Ham. The only thing is that for that price, they wouldn't clean it for me. I'll be a big girl. A whole crab for about $6, I can't complain.

YUMMMMY! So jealous! :rolleyes1

We made a pact this year...if it couldn't be found online, the boys didn't get it. :lmao:

I'm home. One more day of work and then it's Christmas break!!! :yay:

Today we all worked together to put Christmas together for a family that wouldn't be able to have one otherwise. It's a long story that I won't bore you with...so I'll get right to the moral of the story...I'm so lucky and thankful. And it's wonderful to give to others. :goodvibes

Tonight's dinner was tomato soup and grilled cheese. UncleR has me hooked on eating pickles with my grilled cheese now...it's sooooo good. :cloud9:

I need to get up and clean up from dinner and then start cooking for snack day tomorrow. I'll be back later with some recipes.

Hope everyone has a great evening and an even better Friday!

It kind of scares me that we have such a long Christmas break. Usually we only get a week, but this year it's closer to 2! I'm filling their days before Christmas with a ton of activities. They have many cousins close by, so they are going to be spending time with them, helping deliver goodies to the neighbors, etc.

It's the week between Christmas and New Year's that has me the most worried. We are going to be at my dad's house for that time, and there's just not a lot to do there. Luckily, my brother and his family live close by, and he's promised he'll take my kids ice fishing, etc. while we're there. Alan won't be with us, as he has to travel to Iowa for the Caucus.

I'm hoping after J and Big C get their Christmas goodies, that they'll be entertained for the week between Christmas and New Years. :lmao:

And Glynis...here's the cookie brittle review...

Toll House Cookie Brittle

Ingredients:

1 c. butter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
12 oz. chocolate chips

Directions:

Cream the butter, sugar, vanilla and salt with a mixer, and then stir in the flour. Add the chocolate chips last.

Grease a 15×10 (ish) pan and press the cookie dough into it so it’s all the same thickness.

Bake for 25 minutes at 375 degrees and break apart into pieces after allowing it to cool.

The only thing I did to modify the recipe was that I lined my pan with foil sheets for easy removal. Also, my oven runs a bit hot, so I baked mine for 23 minutes rather than the recommended 25. Watch the time! :cloud9:

*ahem* I would like everyone to know that I used a real camera to take pictures of the cookie brittle. *deep bow* That is all. :rotfl2:

Good morning you quiet ladies. Where is everyone?

Today is my last day of work before vacation, and we get out early. It is time to paaaaaaaaaartay! :woohoo:

We have our white elephant exchange today, plus all of the speech therapists are providing snacks for the office. I'm taking the cookie brittle and cucumber sandwiches. :goodvibes

I'll see you guys later! Have a great Friday!

Long day in the city today....Thankfully, it's now Friday night. I hope to catch up on your news tomorrow.

Howdy all! It's another raining canines and felines day today and I have to get out in it. While in Chattanooga the other day, I stopped at a kiosk in the mall to say hello to a server who used to wait on us at a restaurant in the mall, and let him talk me into a massage. Why not, right? Well, it was a TENS unit thingy and I fell in love with it. Thinking it would be an excellent gift for my mother, he then sweetened the deal by telling me the units were buy one get one free.

After stewing over it, I've decided to go back and get it. One for my mom, one for us. Win-win!!!

The stink is I get to get nice and soaked in the process. Ugh.

My FIL has decided that with all of the heavy meals you consume during the holidays that we should just do coffee and dessert when we get together on Christmas Eve. That was more than fine by me! Long story, but Scott and I are not going to have time to have a real meal that day, so I've decided to make an antipasti platter to go with it. Some prosciutto, salami, olives, spiced nuts (going to try out a rosemary-chipotle recipe), and some cheese. I was inspired by one posted here at Thanksgiving (Becki, was it you?) and I want to do one, too.

I plan on serving a rum cake and derby pie and some chocolate rum balls. Depending on how things are going, I may make my homemade white hot chocolate.

Tonight I'd planned on making chicken fingers of some kind, but I wasn't in the mood. I asked Scott if he'd rather have pancakes and sausage for dinner and he was all over that so that's what we're having!

Have a great day everyone!

By the way, Jen- I had a dream about you and Linda last night. I received your card yesterday and I must have been thinking about you. Anyway, we were in WDW together and you guys kept badgering me to ask out FireDancer here on the DIS. I was like, "You DO remember I married, right?" It was a wonky dream, lol.

Althought, there is nothing wrong with a real point and shoot camera either.

That's what I used. A real point and shoot, instead of my phone. :teeth:

So I have to share a funny with you.... I never have cash in my purse, I mean never, maybe some change, but nothing paper... So one day in a store I had to charge like $2.00 and was saying something to the cashier, like "If I can't swipe it, I don't need it" The look on her face made it clear, she thought I was stealing, and I meant, if I could not use my Credit Card I did not need it...

It might be one of those "you had to be there" but the look on the woman's face was priceless..

And Glynis...here's the cookie brittle review...

I have no idea what a TENS unit is.... Got a link or something?

Jen, got my mail yesterday "Howdy"......

Oh it made me miss Texas.... I will be there in 5 days!!!!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

I don't have a link, but a tens unit is a little device that sends electronic pulses to your body. You put the electrodes around the area (ours has four pads) and you can control the strength of the pulses. It is good for muscle spasms and cramps. We stole her father's unit for Fran when she had her knee replacement. She was having a hard time with the pain and this helped relieve it, you know "ya give it a short, sharp, shock, dig it?"

10 points to anyone who gets that reference! :lmao:

The Mikado.

Is that anything like a tazer?:rolleyes1

Yes! I'm beginnin' to think there's some freaky women in this thread! :lmao:

If TENS units haven't changed in the last decade, all I can say is be careful with those things. Years ago I used one for pain management, it was at the same time we were havin' a pool built. Well, after they sprayed in the gunite, ya have to keep it watered for several days. So after a few days of watering, of course there was water in the bottom of the pool 'n I was standin' in it (like a fool) just waterin' away when I discovered my legs no longer wanted to walk. Luckily, my neighbor man was home in the middle of the day or I'd have been standin' out there for quite some time.

And yes, I actually "knew" better, but it was one of those times I just wasn't thinkin'. :headache: :rotfl:
