Thanks for all your good thoughts for Katie. She is doing almost 100 percent better. No more throwing up, and no one else is exhibiting signs. I'm cautiously optimistic!

We kind of took a page out of Jen's book and had breakfast for dinner. We had eggs, bagels, and toast. Not fancy, but satisfying. I had a late meeting with my Webelos den, and didn't feel up to making the tuna casserole that I had planned. We'll see if that gets recycled to tomorrow's dinner.

Morning, everyone! :surfweb:

I am feeling better today. Most of the time I can flush my infections away, as the reason they come on is because I haven't been drinking enough water. I am doing much better today, thanks! After 3 Advil, a few gallons of water, a 4 cranberry pills yesterday, I was feeling more like myself by lunch. :thumbsup2

Tonight is dinner at the church. They are having chicken Parmesan. I am curious how that's going to be, but I guess I'll find out.

which was served with a vegetable antipasto plate:

the stuff in the bowl is fresh ricotta with olive oil and pepper flakes. We spread it on grilled bread.
Beautiful! Two questions:
1. Recipe for the vegetables. Looks delicious!
2. What kind of plate/platter did you use for the antipasto? I love these kind of dishes but am curious what you served it on. Thanks!

I meant to do this on Thanksgiving Day, but I thought I would share with you some Kevin-isms that made me :confused3:rolleyes::headache::confused: :rotfl2:In the end I have to shake my head, laugh, and be thankful I don't have to live with him. I thought you guys might like a laugh!

1. First of all, they were late. I'm sorry people, my mother raised me to always be on time and that's just they way it is. But they are always late, so it wasn't a shock. I said 8, it was almost 8:15. To show you the difference, Scott's Dad always gets there early to visit with us. We always tell him things like, "We are going to eat at 8, but come on anytime you are ready!" He was there around 7:40. Just in time for a fresh cup of coffee, lol. I do love that man. Anyway, we are just sitting at the table having coffee when they came barreling in, Amanda with wet hair. She gasped out a mouthed "sorry," which led me to believe that "someone" had made getting out of the house difficult, lol. Like I said, though, they are always late. Oh I don't know if I mentioned it before, but Ryan was at his dad's for the holiday, so we just had Chloe, child-wise.

2. Ok, you saw my table. See the juice carafe? We were passing it around and Kevin looks at it like it's poison and says, "What kind of juice is it?" "Uh, orange," I tell him. He shakes his head and says, "Just checking. It looked awfully light." All righty then :confused3

3. Ok, my favorite!!!! Midway through breakfast, Kevin points to my teapot (also in the pic, if you want to see what I'm talking about) and asks if it's microwave safe. I told him that I wasn't sure, but I left plenty of water in the kettle for him if he needed a reheat. He then says, "It was plenty hot for the first cup, but it's a little cool for a second. Basic thermodynamics. The faster you heat water, the faster it's going to cool off. That's why when you boil water on the stove it cools off much slower than the microwave or an electric kettle. Basic thermodynamics."

Ok, people. I am trying my best not to bust out laughing. What the heck did that whole speech have to do with anything?! I am clutching Scott's knee under the table not to lose it, as is he. Kevin gets up, turns the kettle back on and gets more water. A little while later, we adjourned to the living room. While getting up, he leans over to me and whispers, "I took a semester of thermodynamics in college (engineering major) and they never taught us any of that bull that Kevin just spouted."

I then made a lame excuse of wanting to get a few things in the dishwasher and that I'd join them in a moment. I had to collect myself. Scott just doesn't say things like that and it made my day. So now we have an inside joke of punctuating long stories with, "basic thermodynamics."*

3. Chloe is now walking! That means Aunt Kitty is going to have to majorly childproof the house before they come over the next time. Scott and I ran ourselves ragged trying to keep her out of things and from getting hurt. At one point, she was pulling on my curtains by the table (also in the picture) to which Amanda told Kevin, "Don't let her pull on those. She probably has dirty fingers from the fruit." Uh, yeah, not to mention she could pull them completely off, you know? Also, while I was putting a few things away in the kitchen, I kept hearing things falling in the floor. Turns out she was pulling DVDs off the tower and throwing them in the floor, to which Kevin and Amanda just laughed. Later, while she was sitting on Kevin's lap, she took a nosedive to the floor, landing smack on her forehead. We all saw it happen and we knew she was going to be hurt. She was crying so hard she went mute from lack of breath. Ohhhh, that kind just breaks my heart. She had a nice knot and a huge bruise on her forehead. Poor little thing.

Aunt Kitty is going shopping soon and getting her some toys and things to play with at our house to keep her occupied. I think I get frustrated because if they would just keep an eye on her and/or correct her, things wouldn't get so nuts. I can't cook/clean up/entertain AND keep an eye on Chloe, too. You know? Not to mention, she's too big for me to pick up off the floor now. *sigh*

So there you go. That was my Thanksgiving morning. After everyone left. we took a nap, lol! Scott's dad made everything worth it when we all sat down to eat. He said, "Look at all this wonderful food Lindsay has made for us. It looks delicious!" Everything after that was just gravy, you know? He called us a day or so later to tell us, again, how much he enjoyed the morning. THAT is why I do this- for him. HE had a great time and enjoyed everything.

I just had to share ;)

*If I had been thinking on my feet, which I don't do very well, I should have responded with, "Well, excuse me then, while I go start a campfire outside to heat your water with. Nice and slow, so it won't cool off as fast." LOL!

I wonder if it actually hurt him to dig this one up. :lmao: (And you know I said that with love, and not a mean intention)

I'm so glad you're feeling better! :goodvibes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got about 4 hours of sleep last night. Jen is not happy. I started with a headache late last night and its effects are still hanging on. :headache:
We're going shopping after I get off work today so I'm still unsure what dinner will be, but I'm thinking smoky mac and cheese.
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!
I wonder if it actually hurt him to dig this one up. :lmao: (And you know I said that with love, and not a mean intention)
Oh please, be mean! It won't bother me a bit! You had me in hysterics with this one! :lmao: And as my mother says, "You needed your high-waters on for that one." (ahem, wading through you-know-what)
:hippie:
I have been trying to catch up but I have to say...................HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who you sayin' ain't cool????????????????????????/
My mother...how can I describe her through her musical tastes...let's see...she's a lover of Barry Manilow, Gloria Estefan and Engelbert Humperdink. :confused3 :rotfl2: She is not cool.
With the exception of Barry Manilow, who I used to like until Buddy took me to see him and he was in a blue leisure suit, grasping a microphone and holding it in a manner in which I will never hear his voice again without gagging.............singing to a bunch of women who seats needed to be claeaned after they went home :scared::scared: I could be that uncool woman :rolleyes1
:rotfl2:
We were at Foxwoods and out friend was a member so she got us all seats close tot eh stage. I am still flinching:dance3:
I feel you and I bonded just now. :rotfl:
Errrrrr, ummmmm, good morning Nan! Just your description of the Barry concert makes you leaps and bounds cooler than my mother. Plus, you have a sense of humor...and well, that's a whole 'nother thing...:rotfl2:
Anyways, can you be bought off with some yummy food products? You just let me know what I should send your direction and I'll get it right in the mail, you...you...UBER-COOL lady you!!!
How was that for sucking up? :rolleyes1
Quick check-in. I haven't read back so I have no idea what I've missed.
DH and I celebrated our Silver Wedding anniversary yesterday. Yes, I was such a child bride. In those days, who knew it was illegal to be married so young???
Anyway, given our schedule, there was no way we could celebrate anything last night.
But tonight...I booked tickets to see the musical Love Never Dies. It's in its final weeks in Melbourne and I scored tickets at half price. They released all the "held seats" and I got seats almost directly in the middle 3 rows from the front.
If any of you ladies are thinking of going to see it, 3 rows from the front was great for the ending...but I recommend getting seats 6 - 10 rows from the front.
The storyline was strong; but the music...patchy. Really, I think Andrew Lloyd-Webber should just about be done with the Phantom after this one. Glad I got to see it with DH.
So now...we're home alone. :cool2:
Have a good day all. I hope to catch up tomorrow; but I suspect it will be too late to catch any of you. Is Christmas over yet? :headache:
Our wedding song was ENglebert's "This Moment in Time":cloud9: We also got to see Wayne Newton. He was one of the best shows I have ever been to.
basement......done (horrible job that I never do right done somewhat right)
front porch.....done
outdoor decorations.............done
piles on my desk..............sort of (Buddy is furious, I forgot to give him a bill for his chemicals after it was buried in my huge pile and the company called him. He told me that he has never ever in his life been late for a thing and he pictures that he is on a deadbeat list. I am in the doghouse :headache:)
refrigerators.............cleaned
Christmas shopping....started
In the spirit of trying to be graceful in my mistake (my nature is completely opposite) I am going to cook a pot roast and vegetables. Because I do not take having Bud mad well I would normally cook a beef stew or pot pie in order to share my displeasure but there is no way I can somehow make this his fault, darn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
last night I roasted a chicken, reheated stuffing, with curried sweet potatoes and brocolli. warm winter lemon cake for dessert. Donny and Anna dropped in so there were no leftovers, thank goodness!
Tonight my little Nola wants to come for dinner so Welby and the girls will be joining us. I hope to have all the Fall decorations taken down and put away in the LR and maybe get soem CHristmas ones there for the girls to enjoy.
Morning, everyone!
Lindsay - Wow! Just wow! That morning sounds enough to send me over the top! I'm glad your FIL appreciated your efforts! That helps smooth over any rough patches.
Jen - Sorry about the headache, etc. I hate going to bed with a headache, because I know I'll just wake up feeling groggy, icky, etc. Not fun!
Princess - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Sounds like an interesting evening! I've never heard the music from that show, but now you've got me interested. We have a radio show on Saturday nights that does show tune requests, so maybe I'll call in and request something... just to hear it.
Alan has been home from work this week, and I have to say, I'm looking forward to him being gone most of today for school! He's driving me CRAZY! He totally breaks my routine, and I'm going nuts!!! Luckily, today is his long class day, so he'll be gone from about 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. That should give me a nice break!
I'll sound the kids out about dinner in a little while, but whatever it is, it will be quick and easy. Katie has her church group and Jacob has Scouts tonight. Not to mention that the twins have class projects due tomorrow, and we need to make replicas of a teepee, brush dwelling and a hogan. Sigh. I hate class projects like this!
Hi everyone!!!
I am back!! We had a wonderful time, and it was so nice to get away for awhile. But being the only one in the office during this busy time I am swamped. Nothing I can't do, just a lot of busy work.
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. The weather down there was b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. The guys were playing golf this time last week. And they are predicting snow this week - CRAZY!!!
I haven't read back, but I will, and catch up with all of you.
Please keep Elizabeth in your prayers. She is really struggling and so ready for this baby to be born. The nursery is ready, diapers bought and now just the uncomfortable waiting. Stephanie on the other hand is doing great and is so enjoying being pregnant. Itsn't it funny how that goes?!!
WFDT ~ Swiss steak with potatoes, green beans, and wheat rolls.
Make it a great day my friends.
Girl, you've been working yourself to the bone!!!
Let me know if you need more sucking up. :teeth:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Put a fork in me, I'm done.

I got about 4 hours of sleep last night. Went to work until noon, came home and went to an appt., went shopping for shirts for our Christmas video at work, went to Walmart to finish Christmas shopping and to go grocery shopping, (this was all in another town) came back to our town, went to two more stores and a pharmacy, and then stopped in at Subway for dinner because after all of that, UncleR and I were too tired to cook.

Good news is though, grocery shopping is done for the next two weeks and we are totally done Christmas shopping except for stocking stuffers!!! :cool1:

Tomorrow, I have a busy morning, an empty mid-day, an observation by my supervisor late in the day, and then practice for our Christmas video after work so I won't be home till late. UncleR is being a dear and cooking tomorrow so I don't have to worry about it. :love:

Oh my, I'm tired. I need the weekend.

12 more work days till Christmas vacation!!!

:hug: to all of you. Hope everyone is well!

Eh...listen here lassie, lovers of Gloria are VERY cool.....and I have the 90's big hair photos to prove it.

:cool2:

I'm so sorry...the rhythm must have gotten to me when I made false, very very false, statements about Gloria being uncool...

You know, cause the Rhythm Is Gonna Get You...

Was your hair like that honey? :teeth:

:wave: Hi All. Dinner tonight is going to be something really quick and simple....pasta. We have some anchovies and olives in the fridge that need to be used up; so DH is going to get puttanesca. DS will probably get carbonara as well. There is some BACON that needs to be used up as well.

Not to mention that the twins have class projects due tomorrow, and we need to make replicas of a teepee, brush dwelling and a hogan. Sigh. I hate class projects like this!

*sigh*. Class projects are not fun. The last class project DS had to do was for maths. He had to find 3 recipes. One for doubling the quantity, one was tripling and the last one was halving. Each recipe needed a whole number, a fraction and a mixed number. We then needed to present it like a recipe book, complete with cover, introduction and glossary....and PICTURES!
Well....I guess it was a fun and easy assignment after all. :rolleyes1

we are totally done Christmas shopping except for stocking stuffers!!! :cool1:

I don't like you! :mad: I don't even know half of what I am giving yet. :sad2:

Busy long day today. Went into work early to help my boss with something. I had a Dr's appointment, routine follow up, in which my vitamin D level is still low and I get to go have a bone density test.

Interesting thing about that, one of the "prep" things is that when I go to have it done I can't wear a bra, I can take it with me to put on after the test is done. :confused: Um, this girl don't leave the house without her bra on. :rolleyes1

After that I stopped at Trader Joes to pick up lunch on my way back to work and ended up getting groceries. Spent the rest of the day getting lots done.

Dinner tonight was tilapia, roasted potatoes and cauliflower, and orzo.

Lindsay - This Kevin guy seems like he's only happy when he's unhappy. He was certainly stretching for some of those comments. There's nothing that irks me more than parent who don't know how to take care of their kids. :headache: I'm glad your FIL was pleased about your efforts.

PIO - Happy Anniversary!

Glynis - I know how it is when you have a routine and it keeps getting messed up, even if it is by someone you love. :rolleyes:

Ellen - Prayers for Elizabeth, I had a friend who gave birth last Thanksgiving and she was so ready to have that baby. I can't even imagine because I know I'm not cut out for childbirth! :rolleyes1

Kat - I'm going to have to try that Pork Tenderloin, it sounds really tasty!

Nancy - That Barry Mannilow concert sounds really...well I just don't have words. :rotfl2: He's actually quite an excellent musician, he wrote one of my favorite charts, Bandstand Boogie, the theme from American Bandstand. Some of his other hits were really excellently inspired. I used to play a lot of his music on the piano as a kid. It's just his crooner reputation that has overtaken his musical creations!

Jen - I hope you get some sleep tonight! And some rest before Christmas!

Marilyn - That's a weird test, won't they let you go into a room and "get ready". That's ridiculous or perverse to insist someone go to a test without a bra! :confused3

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I spent a lot of the day going back and forth to one of our properties to check up on the electrician. He had to replace eight light fixtures and add two photo sensors so that the place wasn't a death trap at night being pitch black. It also cost a pretty penny. Not good when three of our apartments are vacant. He finally wrapped up at 6:30PM and will have to come back Friday to troubleshoot one last light.
I had no plan for dinner and Fran suggested that I pick up Chinese food on the way back, so I was thrilled to that and not have to whip up something starting to cook at 7PM.
On the other front, the Doctor said that she can stop taking her antibiotic, so now we can schedule her in for an RA infusion. It's been over 2 months since the last one so her joints are freezing up and she can hardly move her hands.
Hopefully we'll make that Vegas trip!
Finally catching up!
Thanks for your well wishes on our anniversary. I really don't know how the time snuck up on us like that!
Robin - I agree. Very unAmerican of you not to like cherry pie. We're eating the cherries; and I haven't resorted to making anything with them...yet.
Marilyn - What are you sewing? More quilts?
Becky - FANTASTIC food....and even more FABULOUS food porn. :thumbsup2
Alison - I love the Bee Gee's too. I heard that Barry was ill?? And glad that Fran is better!
Kat - I'm not ignoring you....I'm ignoring the American Football. That's a sport that doesn't have a lot of prominence in Oz.
Jen - Video sounds 'thrilling'! Do you have a starring spot? If so, please share the utube link!
Glynis - Hope Katie is all better now.
Lindsay - I'm hearing you loud and clear about lateness. We are punctual people ourselves and there are certain members of our family that just drive us crazy with their lateness gene. And I laughed out loud at that basic thermodynamics 'law'. :sad2:
Nancy - Your list is almost done! :thumbsup2
Ellen - Welcome back. I'll be thinking of Elizabeth and Stephanie! :hug:
Another day at work tomorrow before the weekend. I think I get Saturday to myself as the boys are busy with an all-day program. No rest for the wicked...I get to clean the house by myself. But I'm also hoping to be able to finish my Christmas cards on Saturday so that I can start mailing them out on Monday.
I'm also hoping to start wrapping presents so that I can work out whether I have any gaps or not. Aside from the nephews and nieces (and I'm thinking of giving them money this year), I think I'm almost done....just need to double check!
