The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Sheryl it was either clean house or cut and paste recipes. It was a tough choice :rolleyes1 I am glad Bob is feeling better. I like his choice of medicine.;)

Becky While roast beef sounds really really good your dinner looks like heaven.

Ann I hate monthly vistors

We are having calzones for dinner. Alex has pepperoni and mine is spinach and feta.

Sheryl a wine and safari dinner, I am definitely booking that on our next trip

Nancy we went to Quinnipiac College, We had never been there but it is quite popular with alot of our high school graduates. We walked around the campus after the competition , it was really pretty. My daughter's team did not do so well, one girl fell , and really seem to lose her focus , to the point it seemed like she forgot the routine, It turns out she may have dislocated her elbow, no wonder whe couldn't focus, that's painful!

Laura, we used to spend alot of time at track meets for this daughter when she was in high school, hours to see her run a 7 second race:rotfl: and of course if I had to do it over again ,I would

Our chinese take out was scrumptious had it after we watched the overtime sudden death hockey game , I was rooting for team USA but was actually so glad for Canada,

Sheryl-I;d take that money saving man in a heartbeat. I am canceling our April vacation......Buddy had almost agreed to farm out raising oour plants to another guy. He has gorgeous greenhouses, really state of the art, Everything is perfect. It would probably save us money...I did all the math. Well, a few years ago this farmer had to get plants from us...from our little ten acre hoop house. Buddy just could not let that little fact go so I will be helping him babysit those little plants this April :headache:

Joanne- i am sorry to hear that your DD's teammate got hurt, that is hard to atch

Becky-YUM!

Janice- all I can say is :worship::worship::worship:

Joanne - I'm sorry they didn't do better. Poor girl!

Nancy - Bummer about your trip.

We keep talking about a long weekend trip but think we may head to NYC. He's never been, I haven't been in a few years, and one of my close friends has a guest bedroom/bath we can stay in. I'd LOVE to head back to WDW but he is not interested in going again this year. :sad2: Since he starts is new job tomorrow, we need to wait and hear what the vacation policy is before booking plane tickets.

That hockey game was AWESOME! I was so glad Canada won, even though I was rooting for USA.

We hit the grocery store tonight but were so hungry when we finished that I went next door and got $5 footlongs from Subway

 When I helped out in the kids' kindergarten classes, I would always try to make sure there were only enough chairs for the kids, so I could stand.

Unfortunately we were playing games so no standing. The first one involved putting together a puzzle, then I impressed them with my knowledge of jungle animals, which I told everyone I learned at WDW. :rotfl:

Took a long nap yesterday and have not done much else this weekend but read. Was going to go in to work to do a little cleaning this evening but dinner agravated my hernia. Had crab legs and shrimp, didn't finish the shrimp.

Dinner tomorrow night will be quesadilla's and jalepino popper thingy's, that is if my hernia is better.

Nancy we went to Quinnipiac College,

It is a beautiful setting. That was my second choice when I was applying to schools. It was a very popular choice with the girls at my Catholic HS.

Becky, yum...Laura, next time spear one of those scallops quickly when they are not looking!!!

-----

DH has the next two days off. He wants to go out to dinner tonight if he is up to driving...he said he has a plan of where to go, but it is a surprise!

I have to take DM to Walmart today...I am with Wendie, I hate that place! Give me Target anyday.

---------

Maria, I think you were going for your second procedure today? or was it tomorrow? Thinking of you. Xoxo

Have a good day everyone.

******
Kathy, holding you close to my heart today. Sending prayers!

it was either clean house or cut and paste recipes.

Joanne -- I'm sorry your daughter's team didn't do well and one of the girls was hurt. I hope she is okay.

Marilyn -- I hope you're feeling better today.

I hate Walmart too. Fortunately, I almost never have to go there.

Maria -- Good luck today!

Aimee -- Good luck to your DH today too!

Nancy -- I'm sorry you need to cancel your trip.

Becky gave me some leftover clam chowder and popovers, so that is my dinner tonight.

Good morning!

Kathy, thinking of you today.

Maria, I hope your tooth gets fixed today!

WFD: fish sandwiches.

Exciting!! Will the kids be in tow for dinner or is it date night? I'm anti-Walmart, but go there for church stuff sometimes. :headache: Sadly I can usually get the entire list of supplies for camp or VBS there and it's worth the gas/time saver. But for myself, it's not worth it.

Kat - thinking of you! :goodvibes

DH started his new job this morning  I was at work early today, I have some work drama going on (word to the wise: don't ever take off because other people will go around you and do what they want in your absence!) so I was up early this morning playing out my "confrontation" for today. I hate when that happens! I plan to leave early this afternoon to rest.

Tonight we're having bacon chicken and ranch mac and cheese, from the latest Cooking Light I believe... sounds delicious!

Too funny!

I hope today is a better day and you feel better!

First............:cheer2::cheer2:YAY for you DH! Let us knwo how he likes it! Now...for you, do not get stressed at work, it will all work out

Kat- you okay?

Maria- I am thinking about you today, good luck!

Dinner is going to be honey curry chicken from this thread. I think it was from GLynis. I will make carrots and a "good" starch/

Good morning, everyone! Looks like hugs and pixie dust are needed all around!

Kat - Glad the doctor thinks things are ok for your heart. Please keep us updated.

Aimee - Sorry about the stuff at work. Please take it easy. You are still recovering.

Joanne - Sorry about your daughter's competition. Hopefully, the injured girl will be ok. Glad you had a good time on the campus tour!

Sheryl - How's Bob feeling now? Congrats on another Disney trip! I would love a husband that WANTED to go to Disney. I have to really bully Alan into it, even though he has the time of his life once we're there.

Becky - Would you mind posting the pumpkin risotto recipe when you get a minute? I love the look of it!

Well, the kids play is OVER!!! It was darling, and my kids were so cute! But, I'm quite glad it's over. Now, maybe, things will slow down. I was able to do quite a lot of schoolwork over the weekend, so I'm feeling more positive about things there, as well! Alan sat the kids down and really spoke to them about how we need their help to keep the house going while I'm studying. It seemed to work with Katie, at least. She's been much more pleasant and helpful since Friday!

Alan took me out for Thai food Friday night, and it was delicious! I had pumpkin curry, and Alan had sweet and spicy beans with beef. Both were very spicy, but good!!! The nice thing was that we didn't have to wait to be seated, our food was before us quite quickly, and we only paid 22.00 including tip for the whole meal. Quite a deal!!! We love this place!!! After dinner, we went to Home Depot to pick out a new ceiling fan/light for our bedroom. The old one died last week, and I have to have a fan going in our room, or I don't sleep well. After that stop, we went to a bakery to pick up some cupcakes for the kids.

Saturday was spent with me doing homework, Alan putting up the ceiling fan, Katie cleaning the kitchen, and Jacob keeping the twins and Timothy entertained. It was a surprisingly nice morning. The kids had their last performance at 4:00, and our whole family went. There were 22 people there from our family to cheer them on! Afterwards, we went to my SIL's house for a family party to celebrate all the January/February birthdays. Another great time!!! Tons of food, and fun was had!!! We took our kids home by 8:00, and I took a test. I wasn't expecting to to very well, but ended up only missing one question. Guess I'm retaining more than I think I am!

Sunday was just a relaxing day. We all needed it! We did go to church, but other than that, we just hung around the house. We watched the hockey game, and were sadly happy that Canada won.

Today, I'm starting the next module for school, and hoping it's not going to take me as long as the last one! Wish me luck!!!

Dinner tonight will be ham steaks, leftover chili over brown rice, and either a green salad or steamed broccoli.

Nan, I'm so sorry about your trip. Maybe you could come in the fall......

Sheryl, so glad Bob is feeling better.

Becky, those scallops look delicious.

Thank you girls for the good thoughts this afternoon. I have been so sick with this tooth I hope today will help.

Greg made crab cakes last night....very good. He tried to make something soft that I could actually eat.

Just wanted to let y'all know I'm home and am sporting this horrendous looking heart monitor and wires, I have to go to work tomorrow!

I wanna see a pic!

Had my meeting... 2 hours later, I think we have an understanding. It wasn't fun but I feel much better just getting out our grievances so we can move on. I'm a VERY honest person and don't hold back (sometimes to a fault!) and neither is he so we were able to work through things. I should sleep better tonight :thumbsup2 And I might consider leaving the office again sometime in the future

Hello Hello Hello....I am just going to jump right in and not even try to catch up and post replies...I have read them all I promise and gave prayers and thoughts where needed. It was a rough week last week with Ross home sick....(lil man cold..well flu but you get the picture!!)
I apologize if this posting sounds loopy....I am on muscle relaxers as I did something to my back yesterday, and it went into spasms. It is the same spot where I hurt my back in my car accident years ago, so it must be a weak spot and I hurt it just right.

Kathy--Glad you are back from the Dr's...I am anxious to get the results. Sorry about the new piece of "bling" you have to wear!
(Oh and Kat find a GI and get that colonoscopy done;))

Aimee--Glad things worked out for you, now rest and avoid stress
please!

Maria--Please check in when you get back from your procedure!!

Ann--Sorry you have to go to "Hell"Mart.....I really hate that place, but Kris needed socks for his workboots (we seem to have sock issues in this house) and in our sleepy town that is the only place open at night.....we don't have many choices in this sleepy little town. (in fact it isn't even my town it is the one over we have 2 stoplights in my town so that tells you how small it is, lol)

Glynis--Glad scouts and the play is done with. Now you can focus on YOU!!!

Ok friends..I can't sit at the computer any longer...between the loopiness of the pills and the pain from sitting I am done, lol.
I will check back in on you all later!! xoxo

WFD--The boys want Hamb Helper(GAG GAG) and I am roasting a chicken right now for myself tonight, and sandwiches for the week.
Sides tonight will be cooked cabbage and apples and Fresh green beans.

Glynis- sounds like an eventful but fun weekend!

Maria- I am annoyed! Not because I had to cancel...okay that too....but I think Buddy could farm the plants out to Dan for a week. I understand not wanting to trust them to another farmer and taking a chance we have none but Holy Smokes! Dan would sweet talk them as well as Bud and weay better than me. He told me to go but I am sick of vacationing without him. He told me to plan one for Christmas break. I told him I would rather chew glass than take Kady and him to Disney that week. I know that he has had no control over so much these past few months that he needs to feel in control of this so I am going to back off a bit but I am still going to sulk. I had a great code adn awesome ADR's.
Good luck this afternoon! Let us know how you are

Now I need to get chicken thawed if we are going to have dinner. I thought I took it out and did not. it is still frozen and I am farmin'

Kat, just accessorize it and noone will notice that awful thing. ;) Glad you went.

Marilyn, glad you are feeling better.

Aimee, hate confrontation...glad you nipped it in the butt!

Maria, how sweet is Greg!!!! Let us know how you make out. :grouphug:

Nan, sorry about the trip...I have visions of Buddy leaning over sweet talking his flowers now. :flower3:

Aimee, no it was not a date night...we are more of the family night type.
It has been postponed till tomorrow because DH had a long day. But he did say grab take out tonight instead of cooking.
