The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Marilyn, That lemon pasta recipe looks totally Grawsome!;) I'll have to try that this week. Ooooo Maybe with some seared scallops!

It is, really Great and Awesome!!! I made it using mini fusilli instead of the spaghetti and had it with roasted shrimps. :cloud9:

Maria[ I am home tomorrow so call anytime! How are you doing, my sore friend?

AImee- it is weird that you all are getting so much more snow than your northern buddies :lmao:

Kat- the others are right. Feeling faint is something more than a migraine. i worry about you!

Dinner was the rest of the scampi for Buddy and two meatloaf sandwiches for me. Jake had a terrible day and I was ready to jump out of a window. His Mom was in tears by the time his dad got home the night before. :sad2:

Actually dizzyness can be a symptom of migranes. I get the dizzyness and nausea with my migranes.

Kathy if this is a new symptom or you really have not been diagnosed by at "real" doctor other than us go to the doctor. So you can be looked at.

Tonight was one of my concoctions of cabbage leftover pork roast and onion with paprika. I don't experiment with Alex he does not appreciate culinary genius.:rolleyes1.

Thanks for all the concern, but I've had "feeling faint" issues since I was a teenager, all caused by me being a mess of nerves. I'm having some issues right now that may be causing this, but I'm sure it will all be just fine.:goodvibes

Aimee, I'm so happy for you that you were able to get that massage! With snow outside the window is just too cool! :goodvibes I'm praying that you feel a lot better from having the massage.

Kathy, I really do understand having illnesses that are normal for you. With me it's usually my stomach or muscle pain. But I am worried about you & will try to call you tomorrow! If I am not might be able to get with you tomorrow, but please know I will have you in my prayers & on my mind. ( I think I need to go to the doc myself for my knee, then I will probably have to take Alexis to the dr in the afternoon. She has really swollen tonsils & started spitting up blood today.)

Nan, Did I miss something? What is going on with that poor baby? Teething or something worse?

Poor Alexis  Let su know how she is. Also, please take care of your knee!

To tell you the truth, I have no idea what is going on with Jake. He has a very strong personality so it is hard to tell what he is saying. His Mom wonders if it is more teeth and for her sake I hope so. He is fine if he is where he wants to be but if he is not he has a reaction that is odd. He clenches his fists, stiffens up, clenches his mouth and lets out a wail. I have seen temper tantrums but do not remember this kind in a ten month old baby. I seldom loose patience with babies but yesterday I was on my last nerve. There is a level of frustration in the baby that I have no experience with so I hope that as he gets a little older he is able to channel it. When I put him in his high chair to feed him he shreaked when I buckled him in so I told him enough...no temper and he stopped. But i had to repeat this mantra several times while feeding him. Welby and marisa say he is spoiled but I don't remember babies that young becoming spoiled.

Any ideas Ladies?

Hi, everyone! Don't expire from shock! Yes, it's me!!! I'm so behind here, I thought I'd just jump back in right here! I hope all is well for everyone! Part of the reason I'm behind is that I'm not getting any email notifications for this thread anymore. Weird, huh? Oh well. As soon as we start the next thread, I'm sure I'll start getting them again!

You are all in my prayers, and I hope that I can stay caught up this time!

Dinner tonight will be some kind of ham steak with sauce, brown rice and veggies. I don't have to cook tomorrow, since it's our cub scout Blue and Gold banquet. That will be nice. Of course, I have to spend all afternoon decorating for it.

Thanks for not giving up on me! I promise I'll try to be better!!!

Hi Glynis!

Nancy, I know my brother was a difficult baby. He screamed himself into two hernias! I don't have any advice though....I can't remember how my Mom handled him.

So, I ended up not heating the mushroom soup up last night because John had to go to a client dinner last minute. So I made myself a turkey rueben. I took a picture but haven't uploaded it yet.

WFD: probably the mushroom soup!

Ann - sorry your accountant cancelled. I hope you enjoyed dinner with your parents (although I'm quite sure you did!!).

Vickie - thinking of you

Lauri, Prayers for your DIL's brother! What his name?

His name is Brett. I hope you find relief for your knee, and going to the doctor might help. I hope Ms A is better soon too.

Kat - glad you are feeling better! Sorry that you are having "nerve" issues that are making you not feel well. But doctors can give medicine that may help with that...just saying

Aimee - so glad you were able to get out and have that massage. Did you actually go into work, or you did work from home?

AImee- it is weird that you all are getting so much more snow than your northern buddies :lmao:

Our local weather guy this morning even said something to that extent this morning; today was the fourth time that areas in South LA have seen snow this winter. Fortunately it was still too warm (relatively speaking - it was 41 at my house) for me to get the snow, but, we get yet another shot at it Monday, I believe. I've actually had snow twice, but neither time was it cold enough to stay around.
I'm sorry Jake was such a handful - has his mom talked to the doctor about that? It does seem odd, but I haven't spent any significant time around babies in a quite a while.

Tonight was one of my concoctions of cabbage leftover pork roast and onion with paprika. I don't experiment with Alex he does not appreciate culinary genius.:rolleyes1.

Our experimentation started after both kids were gone. Now that Erin's back, she asks why we didn't cook like this before :rotfl: Course, she is the more adventurous eater.

Hi Glynis! Glad to see you back here. How did the play go?

Dinner tonight will be stuffed bell peppers

Babies learn pretty quickly about cause and effect. Just keep doing what you were doing. :thumbsup2 They will also feed off of an adults tension, if you're tense it causes them to be tense too, so try to keep calm. :hippie:

Speaking of snow, guess what we're getting? :thumbsup2 5 or more inches starting tonight into Friday morning. :dance3:

Sheryl, hope "A" is feeling better. Poor girl. Please check in with an update.

Nan, you had a rough day!!!!!!! I hope it's just teeth. When does Mr. Jake come back to Nan's?

Glynis, just jump right in........

We are supposed to get a foot of snow Thursday night into Friday. I have to say I'm happy about it. I missed the last 2 storms.
Marilyn, please don't throw a snowball at me.

Dinner tonight is something very soft & overcooked~
Back on the couch I go.

Maria, loving the new tickers. I am so jealous, that cruise sounds like my dream trip. Enjoy every second. Now...Stay on that couch.

Glynis, welcome home!

Nan, I agree with Laura they learn young. Fingers crossed it is teeth.

DH just took the dog out in the monsoon in the back yard. Sure they wont be long...the dog and DH hate the rain.

Dinner at my parents was good as usual. Dad is going today to have blood taken for his surgery. So stubborn I told them DH or I would take them and they did not want to hear it.

Lunch is white clam chowder....WFD ravioli per DH request.

I really need to get into my office; we re-worked some furniture recently and some of the stuff landed in there and its a mess.

I hear you on that. My family room has been my holding area while I've been trying to reorganize other rooms, and there is stuff everywhere. Vacation last week through off my schedule, but I know it will all get done eventually.

Prayers for Brett.

Sheryl -- I hope your knee is feeling better. I hope Miss A is feeling better today as well.

Laura- How is Greg doing? I think of him often.

Thanks, Nancy. He is doing okay. He is still adjusting to his new position as commander, and he doesn't like some of the things he has to figure out how to handle. He also has not felt great since his surgery, so he had some tests done yesterday. That said, he has received some positive reviews of his performance so far, and his soldiers all seem to like him, so that has helped his spirits.

Maria -- Stay safe in the ice. Fortunately, we are just getting rain here. I will PM you.

Aimee -- I'm glad the massage helped. I hope the snow doesn't stick around too long.

Marilyn -- I can't believe you are getting more snow too!

Nancy -- Like Becky said, our brother was kind of like that as a baby. Of course, we just thought he was spoiled. I hope Jake gets it all out of his system now and things get easier.

Hi Glynis! You can get the email notifications if you go under quick links and select subscribed threads. You can then put a check mark next to this thread and down at the bottom select email notification.

Becky gave me some eggplant parmesan, so I think I am having that tonight. The kids usually request breakfast on Wednesdays.

Marilyn, please don't throw a snowball at me.

:rotfl: There is still enough on the ground to make a snowball the size of the Epcot ball.

Not sure what I want for dinner tonight. I was going to make a Buffalo Chicken pizza but I had pizza for lunch, there was some leftover from a meeting.

I may make breakfast, eggs, sausage and potatoes.

Hey y'all,

My knee is feeling a little better today, so I didn't go to the dr. I have to take Alexis this afternoon & I really wasn't in the mood for spending the whole day in the doctors office.

Alexis was able to go to school, she's not running any fever which is weird considering her throat looks just awful. Chris talked to an ENT about some other very gross stuff that happened last night & she said to take her in. That she can have acute tonsillitis or even hemorragic tonsillitis without running fever. She said she does need to see the dr today.

Nan, I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you. Angelina threw temper tantrums but that was when she was 2 & 3 yrs old, not at 10 months. Hopefully he is teething & this will pass. Does his Mom coddle him when he acts up? I do think you are handling it correctly.

Maria, I too am jealous of your upcoming cruise! Congratulations!!! Please help me live vicariously through you! More details please, what cruise line, ports, etc., etc..... ;)

Marilyn, I'm sorry you are getting more snow! :sad1:

Lauri, Prayers being said for Brett! Good luck cleaning out the office.

Hi Glynis, We understand that you have a whole lot on your plate ALL the time! Definitely no need to apologize. You are Wonder Woman!!! :goodvibes

I was planning on chili again for dinner because I'll be in the dr's office later. But I had it again for lunch & it's not sitting well. Everyone's breakfast dinners are sounding very good right now.
