The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

UGRENT PRAYERS PLEASE!!!

Just got word - It's a girl!! Joselyn Jolie - 4 lbs. 15 oz. Not bad for 6 weeks early. She is only about 10 minutes old. She is having a bit of trouble breathing and is on full oxygen. Katie is ok but struggling. So please keep them all in your prayers. I will up date as I know.

Thank you all so much - you are the best!!

Good afternoon everyone

Thanks so much for the prayers for Katie and baby Jocelyn. They aren't out of the woods yet but things are looking up. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Welcome to the world precious Joselyn Jolie!

Prayers answered, Ellen! My sister works in the PICU and the NICU at our childrens hospital and she tells me the miracles that happen every day with these tiny little babies. I am so glad your little miracle is doing well!

DInner was okay, it was better today but Buddy is still not a fan.

she is counting down the days until her first Disney World trip this month.

So exciting!

Um...I thought I had more quoted, but I guess I lost them. :confused3

My ILs decided to invite themselves over for dinner tonight. We had flounder, salad, Mexican rice, and sauteed corn.

Brown Sugar Cookies
(I got the recipe off the package of a brown sugar bear)

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
Nuts, optional (I used chocolate chips instead)

Blend butter and sugar together well.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Stir flour, soda and salt together and add. Mix well.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º for 6 to 8 minutes.

Kingcrab, nice pics.

Maria, I don't know how I missed your post with your BIL's comments. That is so rude! My sister in law and my cousin both have adopted babies (from China) and they are beautiful little girls. I am glad that things seem to be moving forward for you.

Ellen, congratulations on the arrival of Josselyn.

I know I have forgotten half of what I wanted to say, sorry! I'll have to try the paste into word trick that some of you are using.

Here is dinner, curried chicken salad:

I plated a lot more than I felt like eating, but now I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Good night!

Good Morning!

Thanks for the best wishes to Andrew and team...they lost 13 - 9 and play again tonight. Andrew pitched for 2 1/2 innings and did well...I think they call him the closer :confused3 bugt did not bat great. He lost his form or something.

We play again tonight so dinner will be something quick. Maybe a salad for me and sandwiches for the boys.

Lauren so glad no biopsy this year. The meet is June 14th. So far Marisa, Nan, Bethany & I. Place undetermined but there will be food involved.

OK, I am in. Did we decide what state it will be in? :goodvibes

Going to try and catch up using Word since Lauren mentioned it…..

Hope I didn’t miss anything important, still feeling yucky. I’ve got a Dr. appt for tomorrow morning. The DIS is painfully slow today....

It's great in Word right? Please let us know how you make out.

*********
ANN, I think your Mom goes today for her biopsy. I send best wishes that is goes fast and pain free. Let us know how she does. Hope you're feeling good!

ELLEN, What an accomplishment cleaning Matthew's room. I have seen what Andrew's room could look like never mind a college student! What a great boy to make his bed. He must like it cleaned too! Please update us on Mom and Baby when you can.

LORI, Great pics! You look beautiful!

CHARLENE, Did the pool opening yesterday go OK?

******
I probably missed alot but the baby is fussing and I have to get started here. Gotta clean up a bit and wash A's uniform...I have been doing little things here and there but I really need to vaccuum (My least favorite thing to do) and jump on the treadmill. I am losing a little bit of weight so that is a motivator!

Have a great day all!

BBL, once I figure what is for dinner.

Good Morning !! HOLY KAMOLY!! you guys sure are chatty ! alot went on here yesterday,I never got a chance to get over here. My husband was home and we had alot to do outside and we had the pool opened, it was a busy productive day .But I did manage a few margarita's and some hot tub time ;) No cooking for me we got sub sandwiches for lunch and pizza for dinner :thumbsup2. I dont know about today yet I still have so much to do maybe something quick on the BBQ.

I just skimmed thru previous post and I am sending well wishes for those who need them. For those not feeling well take it easy and get some rest.

MARIA count me in for the 14th providing I can find where ever you decide to go. I can get lost in a shoebox.:lmao:

LAUREN- just so you know Andy has us going on a 7 mile trek thru a bird sanctuary for his something to do for his birthday:scared1::scared1::scared1: And no alcohol is permitted! How will I ever survive! Andrew is freaking out!!!

Well everybody have a good day. I will try to get back on later so I dont fall behind so much I know I missed alot from yesterday.

Morning Y'all,

Ellen, Congratulations & a big welcome to Joselyn:goodvibes! I'm praying for her & Katie.:flower3:

Kingcrab, The shrimp & salsa look delicious, but your assistant takes the winning prize! She is too cute! :cutie:

Lori, OMG I must go on the Disney cruise! The food looked wonderful!

Thanks for the wedding pics too! You looked great!:thumbsup2 Mamere you need to give those newlyweds a little honeymoon time before you & Mimi start planning the nursery! ;)

The EMG test yesterday was awful. I realized I was going to get shocked, but they somehow forgot to mention the 2nd part of the test, is needles into the muscles! He puts the darn thing in & then wiggles it around! I had about 8 pokes in one arm and 8 in my neck/shoulders. I have a gigantic bruise on my arm:mad:. I had to come home & take muscle relaxers then zonked out. I'm still tired & only Alexis stuff is packed! :scared:

Okay, well, I'm behind about 5 pages, but I thought I would jump in here quick to say HI! We got back late Monday night and yesterday was full steam ahead. Today is a day off, so I think after the gym we'll spend some time at the pool. WFD has been nothing spectacular--mostly fast food the past couple of days. I'll try to get back on here and catch up later!

Sheryl, that EMG test sounds awful. Sorry you had to endure that.
Have a wonderful trip. I hope you and Bob find some well needed relaxation.

WFD- shaved steak and mushroom sandwiches, corn on the cob.

No grilling tonight, we are suppose to get rain later today. ugh!!

Morning all, hope everyone is doing well.

Stephanie- I think I've got you beat one being behind. I read back a bit but there's always so much going on here.

I was very happy to see we have a recovering scotlass. It sounds like you are having some great weather to sit and get all better Vickie. Do the schools in Scotland get a long summer vacation like we do here?

Ellen- Thinking of Katie and Joselyn, and the families.

Laura- I saw Greg will be home for a month, you must all be so excited. That's great it will be summer vacation time. I always think you kids must have such a hard time going to school when their dad is home.

Becky- I hope you had a nice anniversary, have a fun vacation.

Sheryl- That suprise trip sounds like so much fun, I wish I saw Alexis' face when you told her.

Maria- I'm sorry for the trouble your going through. When the outlaws make comments I try hard not to let it bother me, they don't deserve it since the goal is to bother me. Easier said than done. That's suprising you can't adopt siblings. Family friends adopted 3 "sets" of siblings from Korea and it made it much easier on the kids, of course they were all school age when they were adopted. I don't think a baby will have much trouble at all. Well we are already half way through 2009, so 2010 will be here before you know it.

Ann- Hope your as comfortable as you can be and Ron is enjoying his new job- I'm sure Luke is loving having him around.

Lauren- Glad you don't have to do the biopsy this year. Good job on the weight loss, it sure does make it easier when you notice progress.

Not sure what's for dinner. There is almost no food in our house. My husband must think I'm angry at him when he opens his lunches! I really need to go to the store but I'm waiting for my new dryer- I haven't had one since September! I got stubborn and wanted to see how long I could line dry, I don't know what I was thinking.

Prayers for your Mom!

Oh my, that was awful! I can't tell you to relax, you are leaving tomorrow. but please do not hurt yourself!

JIC I don't talk to you before you leave, have a safe and wonderful trip with you little Princess. I do hope that Bob gets to let soem of that work stress go!

Lauren- a closer is a good thing! Debbie was the "closer" but I confess I really did not know what it meant, just that it was good but it was a lot of pressure.

Dinner is chicken on the grill, salad and a veggie. I have WW tonight so it has to be easy and quick!

Here's a couple of pics from the last couple of weeks that I had wanted to post. ( I'm cleaning out the camera card.)

Ann -- Thinking of your mom today.

Sheryl -- Wonderful pictures! I'm sorry that test was so awful. I probably won't get back before you leave, so have a great trip!

Lori -- I loved the food pictures, but the one of you more. You looked stunning.

I really need to go to the store but I'm waiting for my new dryer- I haven't had one since September!
 I can't imagine the mountain of laundry I would have with no dryer.

I'm in a pretty good mood right now because I went to the final PTO meeting for the year. There was a lot of money left and we voted to donate it to the art, music and computer classrooms because those budgets were completely slashed for next year. I know the teachers are going to be so excited.

Since we didn't have the Indian food last night, I am planning that for tonight.

Andrew pitched for 2 1/2 innings and did well...I think they call him the closer :confused3

A closer comes in to get the final outs and needs to be able to pitch well in pressure situations. Good job A! Good luck tonight!

Thanks for the wishes. She goes this afternoon. I will fill you in once we hear results...If you can all keep her in your prayers today, I would appreciate it.

Of course. Please update when you can.

I'm so sorry, that sounds awful. But now you're going to WDW!!!!:cool1:

WFD - Chipotle lime grilled pork chops, rice pilaf and grilled corn on the cob.

Thanks for the compliments ya'll.

Last night we ended up doing steaks so tonight is grilled salmon with asparagus and leftover herbed rice and salad.

Lauren, we haven't decided on state. Westchester County maybe? Bethany could take Metro North......NJ girls could drive in & Marisa & Nancy would drive down? Anything you think would work best please share:thumbsup2
Hope "A" does great tonight!!!

Sheryl, I know that test id horrible! Feel better:hug: What time do you leave to WDW?

Ann~ praying for your Mom.

Last night dinner was roasted chicken & 3 bean salad.
Tonight turkey & spinach burgers for me & Greg will have regular burgers, grilled asparagus & peppers.
