Our joint that we've been going to for over 10 years had the nerve to be booked ip for parties of two by the time we called. They opened at 8AM and we thought it was 9AM. But for the first time in however many years they weren"t even going to di a special menu!

So for the first time in very many yeats I cooked our valentines dinner. I will post a pic if I can. It came out pretty good. Sunny loved it@

Lobster tail looks lovely....as does the Sunny cat without a tail (in the picture, that is)..

My younger brother dropped in last night. We had hamburgers for dinner - Aussie style. Burger, bacon, egg, cheese, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, cucumber and beetroot.

Beetroot? Do you call them beets over in the US?

I place the sliced beetroot over the lettuce and tomato; much like you would pickles.

We do, I was just joking with you. I HATE beets & can't imagine putting then on a sandwich. Do you use the pickled ones?
My mom loves them. I'm going to have to tell her to try them on a burger!!!!

I know the Kiwis eat them that way. Who came up with it first?

Dinner tonight was perfect for a cold snowy day...
I had it waiting for DH once he FINALLY got home!

Yummy "7 Can Soup"
But, I use 8 cans...
So easy and so good!!!

4 cans of Minestroni Soup
2 cans of Petite Diced Tomatos
1 can of Rotel (I use two)
2 pounds ground beef
1 onion
1 tablespoon Worsteshire Sauce
1/2 tablespoon Garlic Powder

Soften onions in a little olive oil, then brown with ground beef.
Add all other ingredients.
Simmer on low for 30 minutes (or 2 hours on high in crock pot, or 4 hours on low)

Garnish with a shredded Mexican Cheese blend and Sour Cream.
Serve with corn chips.

Meatless option: Use 3 packs of fake ground beef (can't remember what the real name is... Don't brown it, only brown the onions and add the "meat" with everything else.)
