The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Good morning girlies,

Brandi ~ Safe travels my friend and please know my prayers are with you all.

Kim ~ I sure wish we had smellavision - I bet your dinner smelled wonderful also.
Prayers are with you and your brother. What a long road he has, but with you right there the path is better.

Alison ~ I have to be honest - I was a bit jealous of you yesterday!! The pampering you got was so deserved. I know you enjoyed it.

PIO ~ How ya doing? Busy??? I miss you!

eky90 - Welcome!!

Kind of a boring day at work today..............just what I need. Sure wish I was at home. I have some tomatoes, cucumbers and onions that are calling my name. Think I will make some spaghetti sauce and salsa tonight as Doug will be at the Country Club - golf night ya know. ;)

WFDT ~ egg sandwich and chips for me and who knows for Doug. He is on his own.

Make it a great day!

That sounds like what Fran went through with her leg only luckily for her it was all outpatient and no hospitalization. I hope he heals quickly, I know what an awful process it is.

....well, part of the problem is, he's visually impaired, PLUS, he's already lost a leg, so, in his best interest, it was better for him to recuperate at a health facility....of course, he's still on the wound vac. He also is getting direct intravenous meds to his heart, since he has MRSA in his heart valve...

....right now, their main concern is getting that hole to shrink....

PIO ~ How ya doing? Busy??? I miss you!

Sorry I've been MIA this week.

I've been dealing with my little 18 year old princess cat. She's not been well since March and has been on very strong painkillers for sudden onset of arthritis. This week, the painkillers have not been helping her at all.

We finally let her go yesterday. :sad1:

.....ohhhhhhhh, I am so sorry to hear that.....

Fantastic Friday

PIO ~ I am So very sorry. That is so hard. Losing a fur baby is like losing a family member. Holding you very close this morning, sure wish I was there to give you a hug. Bless your heart.

Kim ~ Wow, your poor brother. So sad. I sure hope the hole shrinks soon and he can start the healing. Prayers are being said my friend.

Brandi ~ Hope you got to Texas in time and you are all comforted to be together. Prayers are with you!

Alison ~ :wave2:

As soon as I get off of work I am heading to Kearney and am picking Lilly up from Daycare (I get off at 4) and then heading to her house. Stephanie should be home by then. I am so excited for tonight. Stephanie and I are going to go see "Footloose" at the Merryman in Kearney. It was one of my favorite movies and because I watched it so much is my kids favorite also. Stephanie saw it was coming to Kearney and jumped on tickets for her and I. We are front and center in the balcony so we have prime seats. I can't wait.

I am staying the night as we are running in a 5K color run. This will be my first color run. I am a bit nervous. Matthew will come in tonight and Doug will come in the morning and then there are 5 girls. We called our team "2 men and their Britches" :rotfl2: Marty is not a runner and found out this morning that he has to work anyway so I am pushing Lilly in the stroller. I can't wait - "Nano and Lilly's first 5K". I wish you all were on FB as I will post pictures. Should be fun.

WFDT ~ Applebees, before the play.

Make it a great day and a fabulous weekend.

Hi ladies!

I haven't meant to be missing so much this week, but even without traveling it's been hectic!

Ellen, it sounds like you are having some wonderful family time. That's so nice.

PIO, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always tough to make that decision. But we don't want to prolong their suffering.

Kim, I'm glad your brother is still in good spirits. Thats half the battle in the hospital.

Tonight I'm making my lasagna dish. I hope to post pictures over the weekend. The massage the other day was wonderful. One of the best technicians I've ever had. I just wish the effects would last longer. When I got home Fran wanted to work on cleaning and putting stuff away. That night I made a cod/halibut dish that ACDSNY posted on FB and it was wonderful. Easy too! We had the leftovers last night and Fran said to try it again.

Tomorrow is a roast turkey so that we have some for Olga when we go away for the next few weeks.

I did make my lasagna tonight. Hoping to have pictures uploaded soon.

We have a Japanese Exchange student staying with us for the next 2 weeks. So I hope to be checking in here and keeping up with things. So far, she's proving to be a lot more adventurous with her food than last year's student. Best yet....we took her to the mall today and whilst she was interested to see the fashion shops, it wasn't until we got to the supermarket that she started to light up. She absolutely seems to love seeing food.

Alison ~
That is so true....I think having Anna(his GF) in his life has also been such a Godsend. Not only does she do so much for him 'physically' (making sure he takes his meds, running errands, taking him to Dr visits, etc.) but she is so healing to his soul. I'm glad that she is in his life and can do the everyday things, since she lives less than a mile from his house and the rehab center. Did I also mention that SHE MAKES THE BEST CORNBREAD THAT I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE???? OMG, it is SOOOOOOO good!

Hi all, I did make here to Texas in time to see my aunt, but she passed away at 7:30 this evening.

.....ohhhhh :sad1:.....sweetie, so sorry to hear that, but I am glad that you got there to see her.... You know we are here for you....

PiO ~
How's it going with your exchange student?

She's doing well.

We picked her up on Saturday and we're having a lot of fun with visual and hand signals. The only thing that is consistent is the fog. :rotfl:

We've taken her to the city and made some cupcakes and played some card games. Whilst her spoken English is limited by her vocabulary, she understands a lot more.

It's going to be a fun 2-weeks!

Thanks for asking.

.....hmmmmm....I wouldn't picture both Japan and Australia as 'foggy'....:confused3

....what was for dinner last night? Spicy shrimp with tomatoes and spinach....it was so tasty!
