The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

So I get a call last night from my sister. She says "S wants to talk to you" and hands the phone to my oldest neice (8yo) She tells me that her DM told her she could go to either La Nouba or Discovery Cove for her birthday, that she wants to go to La Nouba, and that she was allowed to invite one person to go with her.

She picked me! And it is just her and I going!

How awesome, so when are y'all going?:goodvibes

Sheryl, your party photos are great! The red candy on the wine glasses is brilliant.

Kathy, hooray for Kyle! I am glad he got to pitch, and that he did well.

I think I might be too hungry to just have salad for supper. Maybe panini would be better.

I am very glad about the new DIS policy regarding politics--it was getting ridiculous.

Becky, I'll have to ask her for the recipe for that, so I can post it! Not to brag (too much) but DD is brilliant!

Did you see the request for your bread recipes? We NEED them! :goodvibes

Bethany- I keep everything. I have every utility bill since we bought our house 9 years ago. I have the same "to be filed" box as you, but I'm slowely getting better. I guess I should start getting rid of some things. Where are the plane tickets for?

I think I cut the paper down about 75%. It now all fits in one plastic file bin and that's where it's going to live from now on. I'll use the real file cabinet to store scrapbooking supplies.

The plane tickets? NOLA. :rolleyes1

Bethany, you probably don't need to keep any of that paperwork--except for your tax stuff, of course!

I'm hoping I won't need it later...aside from the tax stuff, a few years of bank and credit card statements, important work papers (i.e. formal observations, certificates, etc.), and some medical information, I'm shredding the rest!

I wanted to let y'all know that our prayers were answered, Kyle actually got to close yesterday's game and did VERY well. It's been a long, long time since I've seen him walk off the mound with a huge smile. His confidence is creeping back up.:goodvibes

:dance3::cheer2: That is great news! It's funny, I had this dream (this morning) that you were all upset because you had not seen Kyle lately. Maybe it was because you hadn't seen him pitch lately?

I'll post some food pics now & then go read back. It's running so slow, multiquoting will probably be an impossibility. I apologize to friends here from the Nola thread that y'all have to look at this twice.

Sometimes the boards are soooo slow and other times they are normal speed. I can't' figure it out. On my phone on the bus home, I tried to load a page and I actually FELL ASLEEP before the page loaded. Woke up a stop later and it STILL was not uploaded. So yeah, I took a nap and still no DIS. :headache:

I don't mind looking at those photos twice. Now, the alligator roaming the streets of Connecticut is another story...

I will be helping the economy this week too. Doofus that I am, I think I rolled over my own phone in the Sam's parking lot on Friday.

The good thing is that Bob thinks we need at least one I-phone!! You know for important stuff during evacuations etc.:rolleyes1

Oh dear. Ya know, I had not heard of "iphone" being on the "list of things to take with you when you evacuate". However, I was not sure, so I CHECKED the OFFICIAL Red Cross list of things to take with you on an evacuation. Granted, it is the NYC version of the list, but IPHONE IS NOT ON THE LIST!!

I have been having washing machine drama at my house for the last month(My old one was only 5 years old and almost went on fire, bought a new one that wouldn't spin out all the way, repair guy said it was our problem because we have it in the basement going up into a cesspool.Supposedly the new energy efficient ones don't have as strong of a pump to pump up like the old ones so we had a backflow valve thing put in to prevent it from coming back and had to have the end of the pipe changed when we first got it because we had a Maytag and then got a GE and the Ge hose was smaller. Then it started leaking water. We got the store to agree to take back the old washer if we brought it back so Sat we lugged the thing back to the store and got a Maytag HE top loader without the agitator that was supposed to have a strong pump.It was delivered Sunday, the delivery guy goes to hook up the waste and the pipe is too big now:mad:So he attached the water hoses to make sure it doesn't leak and fills it up half way and stops it.My Fil was coming over to add a piece to make the new hose fit.So me and dh are standing there and we hear a weird noice and then water starts shooting out the hose,I grab it and my dh says"What happened"and I turn and point the hose right at him(to show him I guess:confused3)and try to figure out how to turn it off cause it is all digital.I get the thing off and we are soaked and half the basement too!We were laughing so hard I wish someone was recording us cause I think we would have won money:lmao:So today I have been catching up on laundry and putting back together everything I pulled out to dry.

:headache::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: Okay, I'm laughing WITH you here...since you were laughing, but geez! What a headache! I hope this washer will last you for many years!

You want me to tell my husband that I don't need an IPhone?!!! If he says we need it for evacuation, we must need it!

Actually to be able to access information while trying to get out of town & not get stuck in traffic is a good idea.

Your dreams fascinate me!:rotfl2:

Glad to hear that! :lmao:

I was actually getting annoyed this morning because I couldn't SLEEP with all the action going on between my 4 alarm clocks and the snooze buttons and the dreams. :headache: In one of them I was shouting "Stop scribbling on Louisiana!" and "How did you LOSE Tennessee?!?" :rotfl:

You want me to tell my husband that I don't need an IPhone?!!! If he says we need it for evacuation, we must need it!

And go for the Iphone! I want the phone but not AT&T. I have Tmobile but that G1 phone thing looks cool. I have a Blackberry Pearl and it's okay and I get the internet on it (yay DIS!) but the screen is TINY compared to some of the other cool phones.

Getting out of town without getting stuck in traffic is POSSIBLE?!? :confused3

I'm Back!

So here's the story. First of all he was shocked I was never put on steroids....he said the infections plus the virus were so bad that my body never had a chance to get rid of the swelling in my tubes so I started steroids. He also put me on Augmentin for 10 days & nose spray just to clear any bacteria that may be lurking, Motrin & Mucinex.
Being there was no fluid in my ears I didn't need the tubes but he said that is almost the bad news because if it was just fluid I would of had immediate relief & no need for steroids. I feel relieved that I'm on the right course & hope this is the end of it. He said rest, fluids & in a few days I should start to feel much better.
Thank you for all your thoughts & prayers.

Dinner tonight will be pork chops....no idea about the sides yet. Whatever DM or DH would like to make;)

YEAH for Kyle!!!!!!!! He needs a pick me up!
**Gretchen, welcome home! When do we get pics?
**Sheryl that party looked like fun....I still have to come up to speed on this Twilight craze.
**Lyndsay hope your ok:hug:
**Glynis so glad the birthday party was a success:cutie:

Hope youse feel better soon !

No fluid? Didn't the other dr say you had fluid? Anyway I'm praying that these meds work & work really fast!! :flower3:

On Twilight, it's not usually into teen books, I didn't get into the Harry Potter stuff. But I am a sucker for vampire novels. I've got to go look up that book you mentioned, I think after I finish this series that one sounds very good.

What was it called again...Im gonnae read it too ?
