The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

WFD? We're having fondue! I'm going to break down and eat both sugar and bread!

I have a premade Cheese fondue from the grocery store and will dip apples, celery, bread, and lil' smokies.

I have some chocolate pellets from when PIO and I went to the Melting Pot and I intend to turn those into chocolate fondue and dip with strawberries, marshmallows, bananas and melon.

that sounds really good.

I am having brussell Sprouts for dinner.

Alison - YAY for Fondue!

Brandi - Brussel Sprouts sounds delicious. I wonder if they are in season here?

Happy warm Monday all ~

Thanks for all of the nice comments. You have no idea how I so appreciate them.

This first week was called Fast 5. You are to lose 5 +/- pounds and 1" from your waist. Meals consisted of Breakfast - muffins or bars, a energizing shake for a snack, lunch was soup, pasta, or a bar, another snack of craving crashers then dinner - let's see I had, meatloaf, pizza, beef & Mac and cheese, lasagna and fish. I could eat all of the non starchy vegetables I wanted. No fruit for this first week and I really missed it. Today is my last day on the Fast 5. I can't wait to see how much I have lost. I can already feel the difference in the way my clothes fit. Plus the way I feel. Everything on Nutrystem is centered around low glycemic foods. For me it works and I never ever feel hungry.

Ethan did really good this weekend. He got 2nd on Friday, Third place on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. That first place trophy is always just barely out of his reach. I think it upsets his parents more than him. His is 10 and just has fun. :) I love it!! But dang I was tried. What is there about sitting all day that just tires a person out?

We are to have some glorious weather this week. They are even saying that we could see 70's by the weekend.

Make it a great day!

Made a pork roast yesterday for Sunday dinner, put the left overs in slow cooker for pulled pork tonight .

That does sound like some great food you are eating! Congrats, and I hope the scale shows your hard work!

70's.... not here but maybe 58

That sounds like a decent meal plan. I hope that you do great on the scales. Sounds like it's working for you.

Congrats to Ethan! Top 3 is always a great place to be in; even if parents want their kids to be numero uno! And yes, I get tired from sitting all day. That's pretty much what I do at work! :rotfl2:

Tuesday night here and we had baked potatoes with coleslaw, cheese, baked beans and lentils for dinner. I didn't have the potatoes nor cheese so I think I did reasonably well sticking to the diet plan. Now that Chinese New Year is over, I'm heading back to the low carbs and no added sugar diet.

So I am off the FB network for now. The system finally caught up with my pseudonym and they want me to provide proof of identification. You all know how I feel about posting my 3D name online so there is no way I'm going to do that! But it just means that I need to rethink my online activity.

I'll still be here.

Sounds delish. How do you serve your pulled pork?

My DH loves it with Texas toast and homemade slaw. My Dd 's and DS like it on potatoes rolls.

my eldest Dd eats it on a potatoes roll with mayo and tortilla chips calls it her crispy piggy.....makes me cringe lol

Up and about early this am making sweet potatoes biscuits and scrapple.

Let's see. Sunday dinner was jambalaya with andouille sausage. Last night, I made dump chili (brown lean ground beef; open a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, a can of spicy pinto beans and a can of dark red kidney beans and add chili powder to taste; simmer all afternoon). Tonight, I'm making upside down lasagna with a fresh garden side salad.

Welcome to the new posters. We love having you with us.

Divah ~ Your pulled pork sounds amazing. I love my crockpot, so if you need some new recipes let me know.

YOYO ~ Upside down lasagna sounds very interesting. Care to share?

PIO ~ Sorry about FB, but to be truthful I wondered how you got away with that.

Brandi ~ I love brussel sprouts. I love to roast them - completely changes the taste.

Well I am finished with my first week - Fast 5 - and I have lost 6 pounds and 1" from my waist. Today I start the plan. I am ready for a bit more food. This last week was hard, but I did it and got the results they promised. I can already tell the difference.

Bloodmobile is here today. I just dread this day - I don't know why they have to be so rude. After all, we bend over backwards for them and they are very ungrateful people. I have even complained about them to Headquarters with no change. I don't understand why they always look down to me. Oh well, I am staying in my office and if I don't go out I don't have to deal with the rude nurses. Just makes for a VERY long day.

Beautiful morning today - sure wish I was home. Suppose to be in the 70's today. I think after lunch I will go for a walk. Yep, that's what I will do. :yay:

WFDT ~ Thin crust pizza with lots of toppings, spinach salad with pecans and strawberries, roasted asparagus. I even get dessert tonight. :rolleyes1

Make it a great day!!

Ty glad to have found the thread.

Huge grats on weight loss ....I was diagnosed with M.S right before my son was born. ...the meds and regiment had me down and steroids on top of the being down I gained 30pds. I hate the thought of a pill for everything and side effects were worse. I got with a nutritionist and she set me up on the Palo diet....amazing feeling.

I am up to chicken once a week (not a huge meat eater Anyway) and added in some foods that seem not to aggravate my symptoms and drop 35 pads in 6 months and off most of my meds...
(Still 15 to go )
I still cook and love to bake for my family but follow my guidelines for myself.( I will admit I sneak a dessert now and then lol)
When I feel really bad or bogged down I cut back to basics for a few weeks and it works...not sure if it is psychosomatic or actually works but I am happy ....stick with it :)

The pizza sounds amazing.

I was inspired by you the other night. I got some steak and had brussel sprouts, corn and some mushrooms to go with it. It was delicious!
Glad I could help.

Last night was Spinach Ravoli and a tomato sauce, with a huge salad

I have friends that opened an account using a fake name, as long as it is seems legit, how would they know.
I mean how would they know if you name was not Jane Oz, or Mary Australia.

Diavh,

Sounds like you must live in the south, or have southern roots, with the scrapple...
