The 'We're Really Going!!!' Trip, June 2011: A Pre-Trip Report

What started off last October as a conversation between a friend and I over a possible trip came into fruition and we're now booked for June! So figured I'd jump on the bandwagon and create a pre trip report.


Cast
Myself: 21, self confessed Disney Geek.
Laura: 22, a secret Disney fan, not quite at geek status just yet (but I'm working on it! )
Nat 1: Laura went to uni with her, we appear to have lots of things in common. Have met her once, she seems nice.
Nat 2: Laura went to uni with her, we appear to have lots of things in common. Have never met her.

Since Laura is the common factor in this trip (Nat 1 and 2 don't know each other either), most planning has to be done through her. But doesn't mean I'm just going to stop my planning! Especially as this is mine and Laura's trip and the two Nat's are more tagging along to make up numbers.

We're going June 14th - 16th, flying with easyjet on the earliest and latest flights I could get from Luton.

Staying at Hotel New York! I am beyond excited about staying here! After this one, there will just be The Big One before I will have stayed at all the hotels at DLP!


Itinerary, so far:
Day One:
Check into HNY in the morning, store cases
Hoping to be at Studios for opening, head straight for Toy Story Playland. Spend morning there.
Hop over to main park for Casey's for lunch.
Afternoon tbc
Annette's for dinner
Collapse into bed after LONG day

Day Two:
Breakfast, NOM!
Extra Magic Hours, Buzz Tournaments!
Lunch tbc
Dinner tbc
Cocktails!

Day Three:
Breakfast, NOM!
Check out, store bags
Extra Magic Hours, Buzz Tournaments!
Lunch tbc
Afternoon doing everyone's favourites
Dinner tbc
Pick up luggage, head to airport to go home.


Seems way too short, but that's the price we're paying to stay at HNY...

Yay you did your PTR too I've definitely started something!
Pray tell, why are such fabulous eateries out of the equation?!
Lucky you staying at HNY I'm looking forward to staying at SL but I know I'll cast wistful glances at HNY every time I walk past.
I'm glad we're both taking newbies at the same time, we can compare notes and definitely try and meet up for a cocktail when we're there!

Because the other three party members don't like the sound of anything on the menus! I was a bit upset when I found out, not gonna lie. But unless I eat on my own, I won't be eating there this trip either...

But to be fair, one of the Nat's was dead set on eating at the Rainforest Cafe, which I said no to.
Still, I'm hoping for a trip to Cafe Mickey's!

As Mum To Belle just put - sell them to Gourmet Burger at Walt's!!!!

You can always try the whole "let's compromise" line on them... they get a burger in Walt's - you get a nice meal - everyone's happy?

Considering we have at least 2 ex veggies, the gourmet burger with its foie gras wont go down too well I'm afraid...

No matter, as long as I'm at DLP I'm happy! I'll eat nothing but nuggets and still be happy to be there.

There's always next time for French cuisine at Walt's.

Currently after Adam's gloriously shining review of it, I am trying to get Auberge back on the table with the use of the veggie option. Especially since on Nat1's list of characters she wants to meet are several princesses I feel this is appropriate.

However on her list of eateries...Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe. Hm.

I'm hoping to get at least one character meal out of this trip, as on Nat2's list of characters to meet are Eeyore and Peter Pan, Eeyore especially and I've noticed from other TR's PP too have been frequenting Cafe Mickey.

Plan? I think so...

Day one
Ezyshuttle from airport should hopefully be at HNY by 9.30am
Check in
Head to Studios for opening, go straight to TSPL
Lunch in Studios (Hotdog/Blockbuster Cafe aka something quick!)
Do everything else in Studios
Meet: Sully, Buzz, Donald, Ariel(?)
Dinner at Annette's

Day Two
Early breakfast
EMH
Lunch at Casey's Corner
Meet Captain Jack Sparrow, Winnie the Pooh, Princesses and Princes (inc Rapunzel and Flynn Rider if possible)
Earlyish dinner at Silver Spur Steakhouse

Cocktails at one of the various hotel bars.

Day Three
Early breakfast (in theory)
Check out
EMH
Lunch at Cowboy Cookout Barbeque
Meet whoever we hadn't had the chance to meet before if possible.
Do favourites.
Dinner at Planet Hollywood
Ezyshuttle back to airport ready for our 21.50 flight.

I'm not personally looking forward to eating at Silver Spur Steakhouse or Planet Hollywood, but had to bend rather to get one character meal. (A trip isn't complete without a hug from Mickey and Minnie) We decided upon trying Cowboy Cookout Barbeque as aparently no one else was up for Cafe Mickey and Woody sealed the deal with CCB.

Big shake-ups!
We now only have 3 party members going. Myself obviously. My friend Laura and Nat2 as Nat1 recently lost her job and decided she can no longer afford to go. It's a bit annoying as we've all had to pay more and we've got a spare seat on the plane. You'd think people would be jumping all over themselves to go with us, but no one has. But anyways, it shall be good!

Because of this, restaurants have become a bit more revised.

Day1 is essentially the same
Studios for opening, check out TSPL
Hope over to DL
Casey's lunch
Watch the Magical Moments show
Annette's dinner

Day Two
EMH Buzz tournaments/myself riding alone spinning the entire time
Fuente Del Oro for lunch
Have dinner at around 6.30 at Cafe Mickey (if I can get through on the phone! ) But oh yes, I managed to get CM snuck in there!

Day Three
EMH (obv)
Blue Lagoon for lunch
Unsure what we'll do for lunch yet, maybe just grab something from Casey's or EoS as we're getting picked up at 6.30

Bags are packed, boarding passes printed, passports ready.
We leave tomorrow morning at 3am for our 6am flight from Luton (lucky I live so close!)
I can't actually believe it's come around already! Feels like I was only talking about booking it just a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the advise and help getting me excited for the trip (like I needed any encouragement to be excited about it!)
