We were up at 8.30 and packed the last of our things. We went to the food court and had a muffin each for breakfast. The kids had the last few goes in the arcade and exchanged their tickets for prizes while I phoned Dave to tell him we were setting off shortly. We went back to the room. I brought the car round and then Gary put the bags in the boot while I had a last check under the bed and in the drawers. We were all quite sad leaving the hotel for our last time but we were soon on the road to the airport and hoping we would find it ok and not get lost. W got there no problem and I even managed to touch the mans hand at the last toll booth, I had finally cracked it when it was time to go home. We spotted a large black van who were obviously english on the way because they were all over the road . Gary said to follow them in case there was a diversion and then at least we wouldn't be lost on our own. I decided to take over them because I would rather be away from them in case they had an accident.
We handed the car back to dollar and took the luggage into the airport. The kids stood in the check in queue while I phoned Dave to tell him we were at the airport and that the plane was on time. I had only been on the phone a couple of minutes when Julie started shouting and waving her arms about. They were at the front of check in . All the desks were checking in which was a lot different from Newcastle. We were through in no time. We went up to departures and we were going to check out the guest house but there was no one in the arcade so the kids had a game of pool and then me and Gary had a game of air hockey. Time to find something to eat, We all had a hot dog and a quick look around the shops. Julie fancied some chips so we went to the pub and had chips and a coke each. Our plane was due to arrive so we went outside and Gary took some video footage of it coming in. It was the biggest plane on the tarmac, Shortly afterwards they started to call us to the gate. This time it was small children first then the first 10 rows and the back 10 rows, It was a lot more organised. We were at the back this time so we got straight on. We had never sat near the back before there was more room because it was 2 seats then 3 in the middle then 2 seats, We had the middle 3 so me and Gary had an aisle. We left on time and were again impressed that they put 2 hours of comedy on as soon as we took off. It was a lot bumpier at the back but it was ok once we got above the clouds. The film was how to lose a guy in 10 days which was ok then more half hour programmes. The time flew by and we were soon flying into Newcastle. We had another nightmare there. We waited over an hour for our bags . When we left there was still half the people waiting. There was a plane from Alicante in just before us and they announced that a whole container of bags had been left. They had been waiting as long as us and were not happy. Security was as tight as ever once we got our bags we walked straight through and never saw a soul. Dave was waiting for us in arrivals and we were soon home.
Summary
It was my first time driving and I am a nervous driver in UK but found the driving easy so if anyone is not sure give it a go,
Is it worth going for a week? I thought so we seemed to have been there for ages. I would go when the parks are open late like June rather than March when the parks close at 7 so the days are a lot longer for a short visit.
I would go again in June it was a lot hotter than March but it was still nice walking around late at night but I would always have a break in the middle of the day when it is hottest.
The crowds were a lot bigger than we are used to in March but by going to the parks early and leaving early we avoided most of them.
