The Weekend I met some weird Ip-Dips at WDW. AKA the TR with no pictures

Glad you got there in one piece! I haven't been on Delta since they added the screens to seats.

me neither. They have this whole interactive thing you can do, if you don't mind rackign it up on your credit card.

So sweet of HHBG to give up his seat som mom & daughter could sit together:goodvibes

Glad check in went somewhat smoothly.

I'm not a big AK fan either:sad2:

It was Ok. AK = sux

Yay you're there, love how you called it a business trip and Brianna almost grassing you up :rotfl:

We called it that to not get flack from the school....and to help keep it secret from the kids.

Ooh, an update! I am feeling so jealous of the traveling-without-kids part, lol. It seems like it would be soo much simpler.

Lol on Brianna almost catching you out. And cool about HHBG giving up his seat.

Somehow I missed that you weren't going to be camping, after all. Now are you going to plan a separate camping trip somewhere, so you can use all your gear?

Well, I am technically a work-at-home mom, as the part about the 3 businesses is true. :rolleyes1

HHBG and I are planning on trying camping some time in the spring. My IL's said they'll take the kids.

Interesting picture choice! :rotfl:

Thank goodness for uneventful travel -- it's always nice when it ends up that way! :thumbsup2

Why did HHBG like ASMu so much? We have never stayed at any of the values so I am curious.

I'll have to get him to post here and explain. I think it was some of the simplicity. He liked the pool, since it would be easy to watch the kids, the CS was a lot better than at the deluxes we've stayed at, and there were a lot of activities and places to sit.

Chapter 2: We still hate Animal Kingdom

Where were we? Ah yes. I had just sent my 3,000,000,000th text of the day, letting people know we were on the bus heading to AK.

As we were sitting down, we got a text from Carrie (aka Ed) that she and her Dh were headed out of AK, and maybe we'd bump into one another in crossing.

Well, we got to our bus stop, and I kept an eye out. I think they waited, because as we got to the sign telling people where the stops are, there they were!

We said Hi, and I noticed that Carrie looks just like her pic. It was a nice meet up. They were headed back to CSR for some pool time, and to recover form AK, and we were headed in, so we said our goodbyes and split.

HHBG and I had a plan. We would go FP Kali river Rapids and go on EE.

The FP's were for an hour later, which was fine with us, and we went and go ton line. The posted wait was 40 minutes. It took 40 minutes for us to get onthe ride. It felt like 90 minutes. The line is HOT, and it winds and moves soooo slowly because of the FP to standby ratio. We asked. 100FP to 23SB. OOF!

We did see some VERY INTERESTING people in our line.......

.....Like the girl wearing the little pink tunic who had gotten soaked on Kali, so she took her skirt off, not noticing that she was wearing black undies under her light pink soaking wet tunic........

.....or the lady whose shoulders apparently were sore, so she was holding her bag up with her chest......

....or the kid who didn't seem to want to wait in line, so he kept screaming at the people in front of him to "MOVE!".....

Anyway, we finally go onto the ride. Never saw the Yeti. It was actually a big disappointment. EE is SOOOOO hyped. It's all over Stacy's little show, and every Disney show ever on the Travel channel. It was OK, but didn't live up to the hype, in my opinion.

After we got off EE, we headed over to Kali. We got RIGHT on witha group of Scottish people. We had a nice conversation with them while we went on the ride. There were a LOT of Brits in WDW that weekend. I wonder if it's a big holiday there.....

Kali was a good ride, though kind of preachy. They also seem to have toned down the style of ride Kali is for WDW, so more little kids can go on it. I've been on similar style, much rougher rides at other theme parks. Kali was fin though, and when we go back, we'll definitely take the kids on it.

At that point, HHBG and I were AK'd out. We decided to head over to the Boardwalk for dinner, even though we were going to be about an hour early. We just decided to start our people watching early.

So off we went to the busses, and caught the "epcot resorts" bus.

Ont he bus we had a great conversation with a couple and their little girl about tattoos. The father's brother owns a number of tattoo shops in St. Louis, and he had seen my neck. We talked shop for a while, and all too soon, it was time to get off the bus....

Coming soon: We ruin our appetites and fly some fish.....

Sorry you still don't like AK. We didn't do EE, so no opinion on that one, but then, I'm not into big rollercoasters, anyhow.

I'm trying to think back to why you would've thought Kali was preachy. We practically ran through the line when we were there, so if it was in there, we probably missed it, lol. The kids loved it, that's for sure - ds rode it 3 or 4 times with dh. (Once was enough for dd, tho)

I'm all caught up! Yea AK has about 3 things I do and thats about it!

Chapter 3: Ruining our Appetites and Flying some Fish

So.....ANYway.....

We got off the bus at the Boardwalk. We had about an hour before dinner, and at that point we hadn't eaten all day. HHBG figured we could check and see if we could be seated early. Silly man.

We definitely couldn't be seated early. We had the first seating of the night.

Well, HHBG decided he was havign a craving, so we went into the candy shop next door and got HHBG a chocolate shake. I got a Coke and a "dark chocolate mint smoothee" which was actually a giant hunk of chocolate-mint fudge covered in dark chocolate. Three bites later, I was in chocolate overload. I am just not one of those people who can eat a lot of chocolate. Give me a bag of twizzler peel and eats, on the other hand......

As we sat and had our "pre-dinner appetizer" I decided to take a pic with my phone and send the pic on to the other people in the parks:

downsized_1017081647.jpg

Nothing like being a grown up and ruining your appetite anyway, right?

Well HHBG sucked down his shake, and I finished my Coke. We wrapped up the candy and put it in HHBG's cargoes (I was in plain jeans from the flight). At that point, we STILL had about a half an hour or more before it was time to eat, so we decided tot ake the "scenic walk" around the lagoon.

So, we strolled down the walk. We walked down by the Swan and Dolphin and I thought to myself again how convenient it would be to stay there. Then we strolled to the Yacht and beach clubs. Then we strolled back.

Ok...there was 20 minutes.....

Finally we ended up sitting on a bench watching people come over the bridge from the Epcot area. We did a bunch of people watching, and saw a very people-friendly duck, which some people RAN FROM! :rotfl2:

Soon it was time for DINNER.

So, we went into the Flying Fish Cafe, where HHBG met with a small surprise. I'd told on him, and told them it was his birthday. (It wasn't actually his birthday yet, but it WAS his birthday dinner). He was given a pin (which he didn't want to wear, but I made him), and we were brought to our table. I had been expecting some glitter or confetti, but no dice. Oh well. Everyone said "Happy Birthday", so I was happy. I figured that since we were at FF, there wasn't going to be a cupcake, so I didn't feel bad about fudging on his birthday date, since I wasn't planning on taking him oufor his "real" birthday.

So we sat down and got a very gregarious, friendly waiter whose name I completely forget. We got a couple of glasses of bellini cocktails (Which are NOT bellinis. DOH!), and ordered our food.

What we ordered:

Appetizer (uh, appetizer part deux): Tuna tartare
Dinner: Mahi Mahi Thunder entree
Scallops
(We got wine with those)
Post dinner: Cheese plate with dessert wine sampler.

Everything was awesome, as usual. The people who got seated next to us kept asking us for recomendations and what we were eating, and we were joking around with them all night.

Then, just as we had decided we didn't think we wer going to have dessert, the waiter comes out with a plate of creme brulee with a candle in it. Wow.

Totally unexpected, and so awesome. We were very grateful and surprised. the table next to us we had been joking with sang happy birthday and ribbed HHBG about his age (35 - they were all in their 60s).

It was a great ending to a wonderful dinner.

We ordered some cappucinos to finish off our night, paid our check, and left.

Now, the plan had been to catch the bus to MK, since it was open until 11 that night, but I had been up since 2 am, and HHBG had been up since 5, and we just weren't up for it, so we caught a cab back to the resort, climbed into our beds, and crashed.....

...after all, we had an EMH rope drop in the morning.......

Coming soon: Technical difficulties and we take park hopping to an all new extreme

Nope but as the kids go back to school early September the price plummets!

That's better than a cupcake any day :goodvibes

THis is your second review of FF I have read. You really make want to make ADR's there, but I don't think it is somewhere to take a 5 year old:confused:

OK - I have spent the past couple of weeks reading the PTR, the TR, and this.

Love it! Also - love the pictures with your peeps!

I am glad that HHBG was able to go on this trip with you!

If you pay attention to the "story" it's all about the evils of clear cutting rainforests.

I'm all caught up! Yea AK has about 3 things I do and thats about it!

us too! I need to get to your new TR! Sorry!

That was sweet of them :goodvibes

I can't believe that the people we were talkign to had yanked their kids out fo 2 weeks of school!! Much better than a cupcake!

Very cool!:thumbsup2

they have kids menus, and are actually relatively child friendly, surprisingly enough. I preferred it alone, though.

Welcome!! Thanks so much!!

Chapter 4: "What the #$^&$* time is it!?!?!"

Saturday morning finds us out cold asleep. Suddenly, HHBG's phone alarm goes off. I still don't know why we don't use wake up calls, but whatever. It's 7 am, and our life sucks. HHBG goes off tot ake the first shower, because he's the morning person, and I need my additional 10 minutes of snooze. He gets out, and it's my turn.

We are off for EMH at DHS. We have a PLAN. Well, I have a plan, and HHBG is still insisting on arguing with me about my plan. he did this all frigging week. "Oh, that ride won't be crowded now, let's go over there first. No, now. I don't care that you want fast passes for that other ride before we walk over, it'll be quicker this way! ....... 60 minute wait!?! We should have gotten those fast passes...." and the like. He's a control freak who was out of his element, yes, but I was realy gettign sick of runnign after him and arguing all weekend, especially when, more often than not, I knew more about what was going on. In most cities, he's fine, but this is disney. :headache:

ANYWAY!

We have a plan. The plan goes like this: Toy story run, then FPs for RNRC, ride ToT (Maybe wice depending on FP time), go on RNRC, then head over to Epcot for rope drop there and hit Mission Space. This WAS the trip for riding everything the kids can't do, after all....

Well, right away the plan started having problems. We got to the bus stop right in time to see the bus drive off without us. By the time the second bus came, we had missed rope drop. We missed by 10 minutes, but that translated into a 40 minute wait on Toy story. We then walked over to ToT and RNRC. Halfway there, HHBG takes off without me, and by the time I get to him, he has already gotten his Fp for ToT (NOT RNRC). Grrr....So, now we are going to have to go stand by for RNRC which ALWAYS has the longer line. I yell at him for a while as we walk over to RNRC.

The line is out into the open area. huh? We walk up tot he front to be told that RNRC is experiencing technical difficulties and they have no idea when it is goig to open, and we can go get fast passes if we want. BUT WE CAN'T.

So, since we have an hour before our FPs, we decide to wait. So many people leave, we are only about 20 people from the front of the line, and they open up the queue. Woohoo!!

We get into the room with the album covers, and everything stops again. And we wait and wait and wait.....then an announcement comes that RNRC is experiencing technical difficulties. AGAIN. the queue had not been open for 5 minutes! talk about premature opening. We wait about 10 more minutes, and it becomes apparent that this is not a small thing, so they make an announcement that anyone who wants to get out of line may. We decide to leave, and are given free FP passes good for a WEEK for RNRC. Bonus!

We figure we'll come back Monday, and head off to ToT for our fast passes. We ride ToT, get off, and the line is listed as 10 minutes, so we ride again.

At that point, we had to go over to Epcot for our Behind the seeds tour. Since we needed to be in the front of the park, we went to wait for the bus.

And wait......

And wait.......

After 25 minutes, people start asking other busses where the bus to Epcot is, and are told to go ask at the information center. Two people in line go to find out at the bus center where the bus us, and are told "it's on the way".

20 more minutes pass. Repeat preceding questioing.

20 MORE minutes pass. A bus labeled EPCOT drives up, TURNS AROUND, and leaves. ***!?!?! Again, people head over to the info center, and AGAIN are told a bus is on the way.

20 MORE MINUTES PASS. Another Epcot labeled bus pulls up and DRIVES RIGHT PAST US!! People are livid. They are calling Disney and screaming into phones. People are complainign about being late for ADRs,a nd are being told "well, it's not OUR fault. Why didn't you just take the boat?"

15 minutes later, ANOTHER Epcot labeled bus drives past us. One guy is about to run into the street and stand in front of a bus and force it to stop (we overhear him muttering to his wife). Then a "VIP Cast Members" bus pulls into our stop. A lady gets out, tells us she knows we are having problems, but the bus picking us up originates at Epcot, so there's nothing they can do, but her bus, which is NOT an Epcot bus will take us over.

We all thank her and pile on. She repeats 5 or 6 times that the bus we are waiting for originates in Epcot (whatever kind of lame excuse that is), gets dropped off for her work, and we are finally off.

By the time we get to Epcot, we have to rush to check in for our tour. We get checked in and 15 mintues later, are on our tour. Which is lame. They basically just repeat everything you hear on the "living with the Land" boats, with a little more explanation obout their pest control, which wouldn't work fror the home gardener. they then walk you around, don't allow a lot of time for questions, and the tour guide couldn't answer most of our questions, anyway. It sucked, and wasn't worth the $25 we paid for the two of us. If you're going to offer a tour called "behind the seeds" with a "Real Cm who works in the greenhouses", get someone who can actually answer in-depth questions, not who just seems to be repeating what he was told to say, and who has the answers to the bo-bo questions he was obviously trained for.

We finished the tour and decided we were starving. We weer goign to "eat around the world", but Epcot was a MOB SCENE!! Neither HHBG nor I do well in crowds, adn there was just WAY too many people. We decided to go to France and see if we could do walk-in for lunch.....

Coming soon: Do we get to eat? And extreme park hopping.....

OMG the bus situation stinks :headache: We had bad waits a few times but never that long

Glad you made it to your tour tough even if it was rubbish :rotfl:

Then, just as we had decided we didn't think we wer going to have dessert, the waiter comes out with a plate of creme brulee with a candle in it. Wow.[/QUOTE}

THis is your second review of FF I have read. You really make want to make ADR's there, but I don't think it is somewhere to take a 5 year old:confused:

We've been taking our kids there since our DD was 3 (almost 4) and our DS was 5. They love it as much as we do. We do eat early though. We make our ressies for as soon as they open. We love the FF!!!

Great TR Angela!!

Ugh - sounds like an annoying morning!!!

I'd been considering the Behind the Seeds tour - sounds like I won't be trying that one in the future! I suppose pest control in a greenhouse is a bit different than outdoors, of course - and I don't think I have the energy to take care of a greenhouse as well as the rest of the garden.

Oh, and I guess I was too busy on Kali trying to figure out if we were going to get wet to pay attention to the story line. ;)

Since I still have 3 readers, I figured I would trudge along here. :)

When we last left you, our intrepid vacationers were shoving their ways through the mobs of people to try to get to France and see if they had some walk-in seatings for lunch available.

Well, we got there, and I got in line behind a very loud complaining old man who wanted to know why he hadn't been seated yet, since it was 45 minutes PAST his reservation! I was a little worried until I heard him admit hat his party had never actually checked in.........dork. So he checked in, and I was up. I nicely smiled at the girl and said to her,

"Hi. I don't have an ADR, but I was wondering if you have any walk-in openings for lunch today?"

She smiled back, said, "but ofcourse" in a cute little French accent and commenced to take 6 attempts to spell my last name. How hard is "Edwards" to spell, anyway??

HHBG and I sat down, watched the same complaining ld guy go up and complain 3 or 4 more times, and watche the French chair balancing people again. (they were performing for our last France Lunch in May).

The people next to HHBG on the bench were apparently tired of waiting to be seated, so the mom went and got a bunch of snacks from the food and wine festival tasting. Just as they started to eat, they were called to sit. :confused3

HHBG and I sat there and quietly made fun of them. Who goes and gets SNACKS while they're waiting to be seated for lunch?? Does that make sense? A pre-lunch appetizer?? And then they brought the food into the restaurant with them!! I hate when people do that. My IL's tried to do that once with HHBG adn I at a restaurant, as they had picked up drinks earlier, and went into the restaurant with them. I was SO embarrassed. To this day, I don't know why they couldn't just leave them in the car.....

ANYWAY!

Relatively quickly, HHBG and I were seated. Then something weird happened. Last May, when our family ate at France, our waiter was Jeff. I remember Jeff because that is the lunch I got the horrible migraine at.....well, and he was a cutie. I also wrote down his name last may so I could write my TR. This trip, "Jeff" was still there waiting tables, but his name tag said "Pierre". Now, is Pierre French for Jeff? Or does Cutie Jeff have an identical twin brother?? Even HHBG recognized him. :confused3

So, they changed the menu some, adn I read one thing really wrong. They had flat breads, and I wanted one, but I read tht another flat bead WASN"T a flat bread, and I wanted that for an appetizer. I'm a moron,a dn I completely confused our poor waitress. Anyway, the flat bread I got was awesome, though whatever I got for lunch was so forgettable, I forget what it was. I think it was some sort of chicken wrap. it was blah. I remember wishing I had gotten the salmon tartare instead. HHBG got the French Lunch, which is basically onion soup and a ham and cheese sandwich. It was very good (I ate half of his sandwich instead of my food), but it was kind of boring. Oh well.

After lunch, HHBG wanted to head back to DHS and use our Fast Passes for RnRC. So, we hopped the boat. This is what happened on the boat.

1018081556.jpg

of COURSE I took a picture of HHBG crunching. Not only that, I sent said picture to all of the Ip-Dips. They laughed right along with me. Poor HHBG.

We got to DHS and HHBG wanted to go back on Toy Story, so we went over there over my protests. It was mobbed with a 90 minute wait and no fast passes, so we went over to RnRC. OK, first we got FPs for ToT. I love that ride. Then we went into RnRC fast pass, and practically walked right onto the ride. It was a lot of fun,a dn I really enjoyed it, though HHBG dislikes dark rides. Then we went over to ToT. We went on walk on first, sionce our FPs weren't quite up, and the posted wait was only about 10 minutes. We went right into the library, saw the spiel, and were off.

While we were riding, Beauty adn teh beast let out, and whenw e came out, the wait was over 30 minutes. But we had fast passes! So, we went and hopeed on again. this time was the first time ever the ride had started off going UP instead of dropping! It was weird!

After we were done with ToT, we noticed our soarin' fast passes were about ready, so we went back over to the boat and went BACK to Epcot. So DHS, Epcot, DHS, back to Epcot. Whew!

At Epcot, we went right into Soarin. We were in the middle row this time. It was fun. Actually, HHBg and I have talked about it, adn we both like the back row best. it's easy for our brains to deal with the feet above us, and we both feel most immersed int eh experience in the back. call us weird.

By the time we were done with soarin, we had enough time for one more ride. Of course it was going to be SSE! We spent the whole time looking for hidden mickeys and havign fun with the future world. HHBG and I always had to ride with the kids in the past, so it was fun havign control over the choices ourselves and havign one another to ride with. :)

Byt hat time, it was about time to meet up with some people for dinner, so we walked out the back and headed to the Yacht club.

Coming soon: Dinner with a few of the Ip-Dips, and I forgot to take any pictures!!

I'm still here reading Angela, but things have been crazy busy and I haven't been doing alot of posting, just reading.:thumbsup2

The name tag on the wiater---it could be that wither time he forgot his real nametag and just grabbed any that was there. If they are not wearing a nametag they could get in trouble so alot of the CM's do that if they forget one.

I can't believe all the hopping back and forth between EPCOT and DHS you did!

:lmao: the picture is what HHBG gets for NOT listening toyour plans!:thumbsup2

Angela it seems as though less people are reading TR's nowadays, not that many are reading mine either :confused2

Wow you fitted lots of rides in but that is the beauty of being just you and HHBG :thumbsup2
