The week we ate all the things!

Final dinner - Chef’s Table.

It is hard to believe but the week was almost over and we were about to have our last meal.

Tonight we were dining at the Chef’s Table. There are only two tables and each table had 6 people dining.

This was a prefix multi course meal, with wine accompanying each course. If you do not drink wine they were happy to make other cocktails or mocktails to go with each dish.

Our dinner started at vintages wine bar where we met our dining companions and enjoyed a pre dinner drink. This was a glass of champagne with basil and lemon. It was light and refreshing and a great way to start the evening.

We then moved to our dinner location. I wish I had thought to take pictures of the space but I didn’t. I would describe it as a birdcage. It you walked into a large birdcage that had two tables. The chairs were large and rounded, mimicking the birdcage shape and they were carved wood birds on top of the chairs. It had a whimsical feel.

We were given a copy of the menu and the chef and our host Mr Fluffy walked around to see if anyone had allergies or food preferences.

Coming up lots of food and wine!

Chef’s table continued

The chef came out with each course to explain the dish and his recommendation for eating it.

The brought out pull apart bread with truffles on top.

The first dish was scallop carpaccio. These were gorgeous scallops thinly sliced with cooked and fried quinoa on top for texture. You dragged the scallops through the yuzu vinaigrette and that ‘cooked’ the scallops. The knife skills for this dish were remarkable. This was delicious.

The next course was the tomato soup. This was simmered for 8 hours then smoked for two hours. Everyone liked this dish.

The next course was a lobster salad. It was a perfectly poached lobster tail over micro greens and veggies. This was light and refreshing.

At this point Mr. Fluffy walked around and told me I was falling behind because my wine was starting to back up. 😂

Next up was the branzino. This dish was also perfectly cooked. The skin was crispy and this citrus supremes were refreshing and really elevated the dish.

For the next course everyone else had filet.

But I received shrimp. These had a slight char and great flavor. They were served over clouds of whipped potatoes and veggies. This was really good.

Next up was dessert. This will be in the next post due to the number of photos.

Chef’s Table - Dessert.

Mr fluffy walked around to chat with everyone and drop off our final drink of the night. A salted caramel espresso martini. This was delicious and if this was dessert I would have been perfectly happy.

The chef then came out and everyone received a chocolate sphere.

The chef then walked around and poured hot chocolate on the chocolate to melt it, revealing the dessert. The dessert was incredibly light yet decadent at the same time.

Everything was delicious and it was the perfect end to our week.

I had a few people message me with questions and I thought others may be wondering the same thing.

Children of all ages were welcome and dining in all the specialty restaurants we ate at. I believe on Disney you need to be 18 (I have not cruised Disney) but this was not the case on Royal. We did not have any children with us on this trip but the kids seemed to be given a kids menu.

I am not sure if children are allowed at the Chef’s Table. We did not have any kids attend our meal and the seating is for a maximum of 16 people. I would ask if you are thinking of bringing children. The meal also lasted 3 and half hours. So I would make sure your children are old enough to sit through a meal of that length.

The two meals we paid extra for were; hibachi ($15 a person) and the Chef’s Table ($50 a person). Drinks are included at the Chef’s Table.

Tipping: I know this is subjective and tipping is included in the unlimited dining plan but we did tip extra at all specialty restaurants. We tipped in cash. We tipped $15 at lunch, $25 at dinner, and $50 at the chef’s table. Tips were per couple and our friends tipped the same as us.

There were some questions about the drink package so I’ll cover that next.

Drink package

We did purchase the deluxe drink package. We paid $49.99 a day. We thought this was a good value for us. The average alcohol drink is $15 if you are doing the math. We used it for alcohol and non alcohol drinks.

Non alcohol

With this drink package we received a Royal Caribbean cup that could be used at any of the Coke freestyle machines on the ship. We did use these throughout the week and never really had a wait. Maybe one person in front of us using the machine.

We were able to order soda at any of the bars or restaurants. I was able to take cans of soda back to our room.

We were also able to ask for bottles of water at any of the bars.

I had fresh squeezed oj every morning, regardless of where we ate.

I believe some of the specialty coffee is included but I’m not a coffee person.

Alcohol

This package covers drinks up to $15. It also allows you to get 40% bottles of wine. If you order a drink that costs more than $15, they take $15 off the price of the drink. The drink package works on their private island. I never ordered a drink that was more than $15.

Additional alcohol

You can carry on one bottle of wine per adult. We brought on 2 bottles of sparkling from a local vineyard I love. We asked our room attendant for glasses and she replaced them after we used them.

Top 3 drinks I tried:

My favorite drink was the French martini from Hooked. Side note: The one at Le Chef France is the best I have ever tried. Highly recommend it if you are Epcot! I dream about the lime foam!

Second favorite was the salted caramel espresso martini from the chefs table

My third favorite was the lava flow

My least favorite was the strawberry daiquiri. It was a little bitter to me, which is odd because I loved the lava flow.
