The week leading up to July 4th, how bad?

DH has the opportunity to attend a conference in Orlando from 6/27-6/30 and next year's school calendar isn't conducive to pulling the kids out so we are thinking of taking the plunge and using our DVC points in June. We're normally off season folks, October, November, December and January are more our speed. We attended this same conference 7 years ago when it was in Orlando last time and my overwhelming memory was never again, too hot! :rotfl:

I'll be solo with my two girls (9&5) and we'd mostly be hitting the water parks, the hotel pool and possibly one day in the Disney parks and one day in Legoland.

We'd check out on the 30th and spend the rest of the week with my SIL in Tampa.

Would you do it? How bad are crowds this week?

Based on my trips of Thanksgiving week and 4th of July, I'd rate them about the same.

The biggest problem is getting an unusually rainy week which can be hour of rain and not the prototypical 30 min FL afternoon storm.

If possible, wear moisture wicking clothing. That's good for a 10 degree "feeling"

Personally, I'd hate to be so close to the 4th of July fireworks and miss them.

I have gone to WDW for 4th of July in 2013 and 2014...and we loved it!!

Yes, it was hot, and it was sort of crowded. But both times we stayed at the Yacht/Beach Club and just visited Epcot on the 4th...we got there at rope drop and the crowds were really low! We were very surprised. We had dinner at Beaches & Cream this past year on the 4th and then watched Illuminations from the Boardwalk. We visited MK and HS on the other days, and the crowds were totally fine, it was nothing crazy or out of the ordinary.

It was HOT though. We took breaks in the middle of the day, and by doing that we maximized park time at rope drop and after dark.

Me too!!!!!! But I am the only fireworks nut in my family. We've seen the NYE fireworks several times in the past and I assume they are similar.
