We will be going to WDW the week after Thanksgiving 2006. We are staying at the AKL! How are the crowds at this time? Should we avoid or hit the Parks offering EM hours during the low season?
we were in disney the week after thanksgiving this year. the parks were very slow, and the christmas decorations were beautiful. the only time there were crowds were during emh??evenings. we went to epcot one evening during emh and left soon afterward. we have been to disney many times throughout the year and my opinion this was the best week. hope that helps.
They will have both MVMCP and CP after Thanksgiving. The dates for MVMCP will vary and are not announced yet, but CP should be every night.
Of course, that's 10 months away and things could change!

We will be there this week too. (Actually arriving on Thanksgiving so excpecting large crowd the first part of our trip). I know what MVMCP is but what is CP? Thanks!!
CP is the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, there is a guest reader, usually a celebrity who reads a Christmas story along with a choir and orchestra. Since this is will be our 1st Christmas trip I can't give you a 1st hand review, but from what I've read it's a truly wonderful experience.
We will be there the week after Thanksgiving at CR. We go that week every year. It is still managable but I do notice that every year it seems to get a little busier and busier.
a GREAT week for WDW! The only thing you will need look out for is whether the Pop Warner weeks is that week. I believe I have seen somewhere that it is the next week but even if it was your week, you will probably not see the mass at AKL. The AKL is awesome and you will also be able to enjoy all of the Christmas decorations around the resort and parks.
Enjoy!
We were there the week after Thanksgiving 2005, and are going back this year. The weather was beautiful (most of the time...it rained 2 days but we didn't let it stop us!). We avoided EMH all around, and the crowds were non- existent in the parks. I did notice more people in line for busses at EMH parks, but can't speak for how the crowds actually were in those parks.
We were there this week in 2005, and coming back this year but staying at GF for the 1st time! Can't wait. The lines were not there...the only lines were for standby of Soarin or RNRC. Even the Sat after thanksgiving...it was our first night, and just wanted to 'stop by' MK, not planning to do much...we walked right on HM and PoC. MVMCP was on that Sun, Tues and Thurs (those were the days we noted during our vacation) so I would assume the same days. We went on both the Tues and Thurs and it was great! Actually saw more people at that, then in the parks in the am, but still not too crowded. Went to the parade both times as well. This time of year is perfect for going!
From what I have gathered, Pop Warner is a kids sports convention that is held the 1st week in Dec. at the Wide World of Sports complex at Disney. The kids usually stay at the All Star resorts so they can be pretty crowded as well as the parks at time. Lucky for us Week after Thanksgiving people, they would be coming the next week. I was told that the last weekend of our trips (Dec. 1-3) we may start to see some rise in numbers but not to worry. Again, my information may not be totally accurate but I hope this helps. See You There!!
Reading these boards convinced me to change our Thanksgiving week trip to the following week - pulling the kids from school and everything! I'm looking forward to the Christmas decorations, MVMCP, CP, Osborne Lights, and LOW CROWDS!! We have been at Thanksgiving before and that's about as crowded as I would want to deal with.....
