Cast of Characters:
Linda - mom, 52, goes with the flow of her bossy, perfectionist of a daughter. Spent much of her trip sick. Left my dad at home
Christy - daughter, 26, the ultimate in over-planning and the biggest Disney fan in the family. Single.
My dining review scale: 1-5 stars *****
Part 1 - Pre planning and Friday
Part 2 - AK, DTD and Cirque de Soleil

Oh the day I am looking forward to most. It is Sweet Sundays day! But before that, we must hit Soarin! and Test Track! Mission: SPACE? Not for these two lovely ladies. We aren't much into spinning round and round and making ourselves sick :b Keep this in mind for later today.
We split the French Toast/egg/bacon combo meal w/ choc milk and beignets at the Sassagoula Floatworks before leaving for Epcot. We were impressed with the quality of the food court food. I think POFQ did a great job with their food court. The beignets are yummy. 1 split meal ~ $11
We are in the doors at Epcot right at 9am and follow the Characters on Holiday straight to the Land pavilion. We're in the first showing of Soarin, and are soon hang-gliding over California. Ahhhh, fresh pine and orange smell. Excellent.
No time for Test Track just yet. Line's too long, fastpasses are for during our Sweet Sundays, so we decide to grab one later in the day. It's time to go to the Odyssey building and listen to chef Julian Rose prepare our desserts! Sweet Sundays cost $55/person and you get to taste test 3 different desserts, each served with Martin & Rossi wines. The wines were excellent. I had 4 glasses! But what mom and I didn't pay attention to ahead of time was the fact that we were going to be served breakfast. Right before we drink wine and eat 3 desserts. And after we split a breakfast platter that morning. Uhhhh.....yeah. But we aren't one to turn down free food! No sirrreee. Even though this leads to the demise of Mom's iron stomach.
After I booked Sweet Sundays, I read some reviews that made me a little nervous. Most said it wasn't worth the money. But I think it has to do a lot with the chef who is up in front of the crowd and how he/she interacts with the audience. I really enjoyed myself. And in an ironic twist of fate from yesterday's missed Flights of Wonder show, one of the ladies at our table was one of the bird trainers! It was interesting listening to her talk about the show and how they interact with the animals.
So on the menu today was a chocolate/hazelnut mousse, a white chocolate custard on french toast, and a chocolate cappuccino tumbler. All of them were wonderful but the white chocolate custard was the winner. Our chef was entertaining, gave us instructions on how to prepare these at home without going over our heads, and really related to the audience. He gave shortcuts for our own kitchens. I would do this event again in a heartbeat. I plan on typing up the recipes, and if it is allowed I will be happy to pass them along to whomever is interested.
We leave with our tummies full and head on over to Test Track to grab fastpasses, then walk through Innoventions. Mom says she's not feeling great. Her stomach is turning. Well, can you blame her? She just ate 2 breakfasts and 3 desserts and 2 glasses of wine. But thankfully, we are the ultimate in Scouts when it comes to traveling and are prepared with the Pepcid and the Tums. They don't work. We do ride Test Track, and plan on heading to Health Services right after. Luckily for us, we find out from a CM in Test Track that each gift shop carries a medicine box behind the counter. So we purchase a few different kinds of medicines and takes them. However, it's a bit too late and she's sick for the rest of today and tomorrow too. We start slowing down a bit....Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, and I start forcing water on her. We start walking the countries and she starts to hit bottom. We take the water shuttle back up to Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Journey into Imagination. Places she can sit with A/C.
Somewhere in all of this....here comes the rain! Tomorrow morning we learn that Tammy is beginning to form into a tropical depression to the northeast and we are getting the tail end of the storm.
Dinner tonight is at Chefs de France. Yes. More food. Not only that, but more RICH food. Our server was Wilfred who enjoyed spending much time at our table of two women
He was a cutie and was wonderful service. We both start out with lobster bisque (awesome), mom has the stuffed sole with salmon/shrimp mousse, and I have the beef tenderloin w/ potatoes and asparagus. The beef was good, but it still cements that I am not a huge fan of beef. It was cooked too rare for my tastes in the middle (no, I did not send it back, because I knew I wouldn't eat the whole thing anyways - just the outer edges) but still had good flavor. The potatoes au gratin were amazing, as was the asparagus. Her fish was yummy as well. She didn't order dessert (even though I insisted so I could try 2 different desserts
) and I ordered the profiteroles. I never saw the official bill, but I worked it out on my own to ~ $85. Dinner here was ****.
Oh and it poured rain and was extremely windy when we sat down for dinner. Luckily we were inside!
After dinner, we catch a spot at the very front of the park to watch Illuminations. We wanted head out before the biggest crowds since she wasn't feeling well. We ended up not watching about half of it, but that was ok. It was steamy and had been a very, very long day.
Today's snacks: 3 bottles of water
Tomorrow....a Monday at the Magic Kingdom.
