Does anyone know the opening date for the new restaurant in the Contemporary, The Wave?

:)

I believe early summer but no exact date has been confirmed as of yet so they are not yet taking adr's. They are experimenting with the menu I think. I heard Asian then possibly same direction as the menu at the concourse steakhouse:confused3

I'd like to know to. If they start accepting reservations, I'm going to drop CP probably so I can eat here instead.

Someone on an email list I'm on said they were told by dining that ADRs would start being taken on April 15th, but I didn't see an opening date.

:)

I would say it will open sometime after June 1st because that is the day the Concourse Steakhouse is to close, so they must think the construction for The Wave will be done around that time.

this is good news - then we'll get to eat there in december!

Is this going to be a 1TS location? Seems like it is going to be a good one, compared to MK. From the AKL, we are taking a bus to MK, how far is it to this hotel then.

Don't know about the credits, but I can answer your question about the distance. Walking the CR is about 10 minutes from the MK. By monorail you'd have to hop on the resort monorail and it's the first stop. If you walk you'd have to follow the path past where the busses drop you off. If you're taking a bus from AKL it will be faster to walk to the CR than to walk back to where the monorail is and wait for the monorail to the CR.

This was in today's Mouse Planet update;
More information is becoming available about The Wave, the new upscale restaurant opening in the location of the former Food 'n' Fun Center on the first floor of the Contemporary Resort. The restaurant, which opens this summer, will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and will feature "bold American cooking with flavors from all over the world." Local and regional products will be on the seasonal menu, when possible. The bar will feature organic beers and trendy cocktails, and the wine list will feature cutting-edge wines from around the world with one twist–the bottles will feature all screw caps, no corks.
It doesn't seem like it will be so much an Asian restaurant as I was led to believe.

This is just a total guess here but wouldn't The Wave be the same table service credit that they used at the Concourse Steakhouse? Since it's replacing the Concourse Steakhouse wouldn't WDW want to keep things even among the various restaurants in WDW in terms of which locations is 1TS and 2TS?

Besides if your coming from the Magic Kingdom you can't go wrong with the Monorail or walking, however I would say walking might be faster. By doing that you will enter threw the lobby and The Wave will be located in the lobby where the Food & Fun Center use to be. If you were take the Monorail you would get off on the 4th floor, then have to take the elevator down to the 1st floor.

Will be interested to see what "bold American cooking" turns out to be--.
And that word "upscale"--upscaled FROM what the Concourse was???

Hmmm... "upscale". Wonder what the dress code would be? Trying to figure out where to eat during MNSSHP. We won't be dressed well enough for California Grill.

I am looking forward to the WAVE and what it will offer this summer. I hope some information comes out soon so I can secure an ADR for the family during our trip this summer.

I am curious as well. "Bold American" is an odd choice imo since CG is in the same resort and has "Californian" style food. It all depends on their interpretation of bold. I know occaisonally Bobby Flay's restaurants here in NYC have been coined "Bold American". I also wonder if the chef is a Disney chef or an outside hire.

Also "upscale" could mean so many things. Flyin Fish, Cali Grill & Victoria & Alberts are all "upscale" Disney restaurants but are all very different it terms of feeling and how I would dress to each as well different in service style imo.
