The Wave or The Plaza?

I just rearranged my days so that I can do two Halloween parties. I switched my dinner Wave reservation for a lunch ADR at 1:50 (right before they close for the lunch/dinner gap). I could also get a lunch at the same time, or a 3:00 ADR at The Plaza.

Which would folks go with? I'm leaning towards The Wave, but I'm concerned about arriving 10 minutes before they "close" for a couple of hours. I feel like this will be an easy answer for a lot of people, but I've never experienced either restaurant. I'll be a solo traveler, and the day in question is 9/7.

*ETA -- theoretically, I could also do a 5:00 ADR at The Wave. I had originally thought I'd prefer dinner, but given I'm doing another party, I went with lunch ADR. The crab cakes and chocolate flight are on the lunch menu, and that was what I was most excited about anyway.

If you are dressing in costume for the party then you can't enter MK before 4pm with a costume. We just ate at the Wave for lunch and all of us enjoyed our meal. I would do the Wave and just walk to MK after. Enjoy!

I’ll have a very light costume, most likely something more akin to bounding. But I’ll be in MK all day anyway, so it’s nothing that wouldn’t be allowed on a normal day. :)

The Wave is great. And often as a solo diner, I sit at the bar there and eat a meal. I think the ambience in the bar is nicer than in the dining room.

If you’ll be in the park during the day anyway I would recommend the Plaza. We tend to like it there better than the Wave and you won’t lose park time.

Got it - you are a trooper - that is a long day. Have a blast - we just did the 1st Halloween party and it is always a blast. Enjoy!

I really enjoy the Plaza. Basic stuff - like burgers, fries and milkshakes. But good and reasonably (for Disney) priced. That said, I like the above poster's idea that you might want to take a bit of a break from the park. If so, The Wave would be a great choice and might allow for more of a break. I wouldn't say the Plaza is "rushed" but is more of a no-nonsense spot if that makes sense. I happened to walk through there last week ~2:15pm and there were a handful of tables still dining. If you wanted more of a break even after your meal, there's the Outer Rim bar by Chef Mickey's which has great views of Bay Lake -- or even take yourself on a bit of a monorail tour around the loop and return to MK. Have fun!!

I appreciate everyone's responses. I think I'm going to stick with The Wave for lunch. Hopefully I can check out dinner there sometime next year.

I am a tiny bit concerned about going right at the end of lunch. Any experience eating at a resort restaurant with a 1:50 ADR when they close at 2?

Well, we had ADR's at the Wave for breakfast, 10 minutes before breakfast service was over, and several (3) 21 year old's wanted to do the breakfast buffets, so the question was asked and the server said, not to worry, take your time. They headed to the buffet and the staff replenished the dishes, the food was ample and fresh and we were never rushed. So I wouldn't worry!

Both are good options.
Many people like to take a break in the afternoon. If you do, definitely go to the wave. Its a short monorail trip or short walk.
If you don't care about taking a break, then I would stay in the park and eat at the Plaza.
