did you know that when they were testing "test track" one of the ride vechiles flipped over? it was only in testing mode and there was no one aboard the vechile.
also that orginally the test track vechile was supposed to go over 80 mph and the computer in the ride vechile is said to be better than that which are aboard the nasa space station.
so anyone else have any"did you know" facts that you think no one else knows about any and all of wdw?

also when mgm first opened it had the biggest hidden mickey in it that was only seen from the sky.

I had heard about the computer thing - most advanced computer yet, yada yada yada. Despite it's greatness, though, I think it's kinda funny that Test Track seems to have the most problems of any ride. I think I've only been on that ride once where it's seemed to have been running properly. On our last day in Epcot last Friday, the thing wasn't even running on a beautiful day. :confused3

I don't see how a Test Track car flipping is possible...

Not only did the car flip, it launched into the building causing some structural damage, hence one of the many delays to opening. A TT CM told us this one time, so until it's proven otherwise, I'm tending to believe it. Something about the wrong speed & not the proper forces on the car caused the crash.

DId you know that when riding the Haunted Mansion you don't see a ghost until Madame Leota calls to them in the seance room? Then they "materialize." Also, once you pass the bride in the attic, she "pushes" you out the window and the ghosts are more clear because..............

now YOU are one of them!

Bawahahahaha!!!!

:rotfl:

This is true. It's in the Walt Disney World trivia book. During the testing phase an empty ride vehicle flipped off the track. The Imagineers then designed a computer system in each car that fits into a cooler-sized compartment.....

Speaking of, here's my did you know......

each car in Test Track has 3 time the computing power of the space shuttle and each could run all the rides and shows in the Magic Kingdom!!

You guys have to get this book. It is full of fascinating information. :goodvibes

Did you know that in the cue of Space Mountain before you are loaded -if you look to the sky and see a meteor go by it is actually a chocolate chip cookie?

Found this out recently on another thread here--just incase you don't already know this one...

The ghost bride's engagement ring is embedded in the pathway of the exit of The Haunted Mansion.

NCombs, what is that book called and do you know if it is sold just in WDW? Also about how much does it cost?

It's the Walt Disney World Trivia Book-Secrets, History and Fun Facts Behind the Magic by Louis A. Mongello.

It's a great read. I highly recommend it. It ask questions in a multiple choice format and then gives the answers with lots of interesting detail.

Amazon.com has it for $10.17.

Just bought it yesterday at Barnes and Noble. Great book so far.

Hey guys, thought I'd jump in and give ya a couple of Did You Knows (and THANKS for the kind words about my book! So happy to hear you're enjoying it!!)

Did You Know...

That at one time, Iran was considered to be included in World Showcase?

Splash Mountain takes up about a 9.2 acre site, and the attraction holds about 965,000 gallons of water?

Much of Donald Duck's voice in Philharmagic is performed by Clarence "Ducky" Nash, the original voice of Donald Duck.

WDW serves more than 1.5 million soft pretzels per year?

The Magic Kingdom welcomed its 100-millionth guest in 1979

That's it for now! Thanks again! :)
