The walking dead amc #2

Hmmm, not at all what I was expecting. It was actually a little anticlimactic. I think that was a bunch of crap that we would need tissues and fans would be upset...why?? Still looking forward to season 6.

Yup! My thoughts exactly.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping for a bigger death. I think when we think of finales we want them to take it up a notch. This show has kind of delivered a big death every finale. This season just kind of went different, they had a lot of deaths early on, Tyrese, Bob, Beth. I think they did that instead of a big death at the end.

OH yeah, I forgot about that. What was all that talk about needing a box of tissues? Yes, it was sad that Deannas hubby died, but I don't think it was tissue-worthy. I don't the fans were attached to him yet.

Then there was the talk about how the fans would be really mad. I think the actor who plays Abraham said that. Maybe he was talking about Glenn and how that guy tried to kill him then Glenn let him live?

I know I'm super late, but can I play??? :) I'll be ready to go for next season.

I loved how they did all of the intensity last night instead of lots of crazy deaths. I also loved Carol's line about bringing her dish back. And Michonne with her sword and Morgan the zen ninja--loved it all!!

I assume they said we'd need tissues for the scene with Gabriel, Sasha, and Maggie. As much as he has annoyed me to no end, I actually really liked what they did with that scene-they all just kinda broke and needed each other. Super sweet and calming!

Maybe we needed tissues to cry into when they kept going to soooo many flippin' commercials.

I think they were trying to fool us into thinking Glen (or even Daryl) was going to bite the dust...maybe. Or we needed tissues for all the dramatic theme of the episode (everything Rick has been saying and then all the forgiveness: Glen with what's-his-name and Maggie with Gabriel and finally when Diana get's what Rick is saying and lets him 'do it').

There were a lot of commercials!!! Advertising that as an hour and 1/2 is false advertising. Loved it and can't wait to see more, some day. I loved it when Deanna said, "do it!"

/
So is that show we saw the ad for a spin off of Walking Dead? Looks like it will take place in LA, and it looks like we get to see the pre-apocolypse life.

Loved it. Carol is awesome. I thought it had just the right amount of action/suspense and moving the plot forward. Looking forward to Rick Grimes boot camp for the Alexandrians next season. The head squeeze kill was totally gross though, probably the most disgusting Walker death so far. As for the commercials, I always DVR it and start watching at 9:30 so I can ffwd through all that crap but now that you mention it, I was a bit surprised at how short it seemed. Sounds like I may have ffwd through a preview of the new show??? I'll have to go back and check that out.

Enjoyed TD afterwards too!

Loved the show last night. I kept waiting for somebody important to get killed off, but was glad when it was just the porch ****. :)

I always record the show on my DVR and start watching about 15 or 20 minutes after the actual start time. That 90 minute episode last night was not nearly that long if you are fast forwarding through all the commercials ...

Oh and I was totally convinced some main character was getting killed off after they said they had a "surprise guest" on Talking Dead! They always do that when somebody important is going to die!

I thought it was a great finale. I know some people were disappointed there wasn't a big death, but I'm super-happy that they didn't rely on a major character death to get a rise out of us-- instead it was just a whole bunch of seriously tense moments. Thought it was really cool how it ended, and really happy that they're still in Alexandria and getting ready to show the "children" how to survive. I hope Lennie James stays with them for a while next season. He's amazing.

When I heard about FEAR THE WALKING DEAD I groaned inwardly. ("Great, the show is going to be so derivative they couldn't even give it its own name!") But I think it will be really cool to see the first days of the outbreak than Rick pretty much slept through.

Overall, I think it was a good finale. Some lingering thoughts and questions I had:

Final Scenes - Michonne, the katana, Wolves:

The scene after the credits with Michonne wiping off the katana and putting it on her back. It was suggested on another forum that this was in fact a cliffhanger, insinuating that Rick & Co brilliantly planned the entire thing. Carol perpetuated Pete's already agitated state by stopping over and doing what she did. She knowingly pushed him to the brink. We know Michonne's katana was out in the open. We've seen her hang it above the mantle before, and she referenced it earlier in the episode. And we know the Alexandrians needed a little push to believe that they need to kill off the bad guys and "change", as Rick put it. Some theories out there that Rick & Co masterminded this whole thing to get the Alexandrians behind their views, and effectively kill Pete without the whole town hating them.

I didn't catch all that while watching. My personal interpretation was that Michonne was wiping off her katana after the incident, and they show her putting it on rather than hanging it back up as a way to symbolize her recognizing she DOES need her weapon, contrary to what she was saying earlier. She realizes now she needs it to defend herself against crazy humans like Pete and potential walker infiltrations. They then cut to the scene where the Wolves were and we see another "wolves not far" - foreshadowing that the Wolves are now en route to Alexandria (we saw them looking at the photos that Aaron had left behind with his pack). Michonne is now ready for battle, and the Wolves are coming.

How did you interpret it?

Morgan:

Last time we saw Morgan a few seasons ago, he was crazy. He's seemingly pulled himself together with a new lease on life. We saw him earlier this season with his rabbit foot, praying in the church. In this episode he tells Darryl and Aaron that "all life is precious". He takes mercy on the Wolves guys who he knows are bad guys - he just knocks them out and drags them to the car to protect them from walkers. He IS the Rick Grimes that he knew and hasn't seen for a while. So when he sees Rick now killing Pete in cold blood, did anyone else notice the look of horror and disgust on Morgan's face? I think we're supposed to think that Morgan would know better than anyone what needs to be done in "the real world", but I think we'll see some conflict between Morgan and Rick next season. Morgan is a new man, which Rick doesn't know and only remembers him based on what he saw last time (which was bad). Rick has changed too, and will ultimately disappoint Morgan who seemed so pumped to get to him when he ran into Darryl and Aaron. Even the note Abraham had written on the map that Morgan had reinforced Morgan's previous thoughts of Rick's - "the world needs Rick Grimes". This was the biggest cliffhanger for me - how the dynamic between Rick and Morgan will unfold.

And as far that chopped up body we saw Darryl and Aaron find last week that was consistent with Morgan's clothes, etc., I'm thinking now perhaps it was just foreshadowing that Morgan would come in contact with the Wolves.

I don't think it was a set up b/c to me it is hard to know who he would have killed and that is risky as it could have been one of them. He is too unstable to predict how it would go down. I think she put it back on b/c she was listening to what Rick said. In that short time some of them were becoming too laxed and too like the Alexandrians and there needs to be a balance and Michonne recognizes that the threats are everywhere.

I think there will be some conflict(and a lot internal for Rick) now that Morgan has returned. Hopefully we will see Rick tone it down a little. I agree with what he said to everyone, but his sense of vigilante justice may be getting out of hand. I agree Pete had to go, but the way in which it happened had to be traumatizing for everyone and too impulsive and can ultimately cause problems when decisions are executed like that. I think Morgan was horrified.

It wasn't that I disliked this episode or hoped for a major character killing, but I just felt like in my head the storyline would push forward a little quicker. I felt like the Glen fight and the Tasha walker bit could have really been either cut or a lot less of the storyline. I get FG stuff to try and show his mental state, but I'd have liked to see a few other things play out. For me the could have amped up the Wolves a little more and their impending threat(which I didn't really feel). I still think season 6 looks good.

I have very little interest in the spin off other than seeing what happened while Rick was sleeping in the outside words. I will watch it, but it will take a lot to get me to stay on a s a long time watcher...but who knows maybe it will really wow me.

I was thinking the same as you...but I am also pretty sure that Carol did stir the Pete pot to incite him into acting out. When I saw him in the house they sent him to, murmuring 'it's my house...MY house' I said 'ought oh' as I knew he was unhinged and would do something crazy.

I agree with what you said about Morgan though I didn't really pick up on that while watching the show (it just clicked when I read what you wrote). I kept feeling like Morgan was bad (and maybe he'll be the Negan we keep hearing about) because of the note left in the car where Daryl and what's his name got trapped...then when Morgan helped get them out, Daryl gave him a very distrustful look and I thought 'ought oh, Morgan's trouble'. Negan has Lucille and maybe that's Morgan's staff thingy???? I didn't read the comics but have heard bits and pieces of what's coming.

Negan is a very main antagonist in the comics and long anticipated in the TV show. Negan will be coming and will be seperate and apart from Morgan.

I didn't get the inclination that Morgan was bad. Not sure who left the note - could have been from Morgan as a genuine warning, but it was definitely the Wolves who set the trap.

Yeah...I was just reading some stuff online and it suggests that Negan won't show up for a while. I read something REALLY interesting about the 'Clear' episode with the cra-cra Morgan...something he said that made no sense then but might be tying to what's coming up...link (but, warning: spoilers) http://www.businessinsider.com/the-walking-dead-whisperers-wolves-2015-3

We have Amazon Prime's Season Pass for The Walking Dead and I wondered how many actual minutes of the show there are per episode. When it's on for an hour it runs between 42 - 44 minutes, the rest being commercials. Last night's episode was 1 hour and 5 minutes of actual show and the rest being commercials and the previews for "Fear the Walking Dead".

It doesn't seem like that's out of the ordinary compared to other shows but for some reason it just feels like they have way more commercials.

(snip)

I agree with you about Michonne. I think she was starting to relax there and the walkers getting in and what happened with Pete was a reminder to her that she still can't let her guard down. I also saw them looking at those pictures and knew that meant that the Wolves would want to find that place.

For Morgan, again, those were my thoughts exactly. The only point in the episode last night where I was sitting up with my hand over my mouth saying OMG was seeing Morgan's face after Rick shot Pete. I like how it played out with Morgan saving Darryl and then showing him the map. I couldn't wait for Rick to see Morgan again. But then to have him show up right then...ughhhhh. I agree, I think Morgan has changed for the better and now Rick is acting like Morgan was the last time they were together. I am also very interested to see how that will play out between them. I'm really hoping Morgan sticks around. I think he will help balance Rick out.

Overall I liked the finale. It had a lot of excitement and a good cliffhanger without having to kill any more of our favorite characters. I agree with what others have posted though and at no point did I feel the need to break out the Kleenex ;) And I am fine with that. I do think the teasers about upcoming episodes and "surprise guests" on Talking Dead are getting old though and are completely unnecessary. Unless they keep making the surprise guests ones that are still alive (like last night), LOL.

I am actually looking forward to the spin off this summer (especially since we live in So. California and I love seeing places we know in TV shows...it happens a lot around here). Plus I like having the filler while we are waiting for Season 6 to start.

One thing I was confused about was when the wolves made the guy in the red poncho go into the gated area where all the walkers were. Was it just to watch him die? When they opened the backs of the trucks, he had some kind of remote or something? What was that? Then there were flashes inside the truck? I was confused.

Also, one other thing some cast member said besides the box of tissues was that "someone will not be who they appear to be and it will pi** you off." I think the guy who plays Abraham said that. What did he mean? Maybe the guy who lead Glenn out to kill him, but we already hated him. LOL.
