The walking dead amc #2

Too much dialogue in last night's episode for me. No one would really be that witty and mouthy in the ZA. o_O

As far as Carol, I think she was struggling with how many she's killed and how bad it's gotten, but towards the end of the episode realized that killing is necessary. I feel like Carol's internal struggle with this came out of nowhere though. For the longest time, she was bad-a** Carol that didn't give a crap and killed little kids for being demonic. She was crafty and could get out of situations. Not sure when she started having these come to Jesus feelings.

See I stills aw Carol as a badass and very cunning, grabbing the rosaries. Working her story to get her and Maggie out of there. Killing the one lady with no hesitation when she threaten Maggie's baby. But I do think Carol is having an internal struggle after her encounter with Morgan and the Wolf. I think she is still badass Carol but like so many of them, she is starting to be wore down and breaking down. We have seen it with all the strong characters. How many times did Rick go off the deep end to emerge stronger and do what had to be done.

I think Negan has them all well trained to say I am Negan. But with this they do know who Primos is thanks to Carol and Maggie

I was going to say the same thing on both topics but instead I'll just say ditto ;) I was thinking the exact same thing. Carol's cunning is still there. She wasn't praying, but by pretending she was, she took focus off of the fact that she was using the rosary to cut the tape (so they let her keep it). I think she was just playing weak at that point. What I'm not sure about is why she is struggling with killing humans right now. I still haven't watched Talking Dead yet so I'm hoping they will discuss it on that show.

Well now, I think Rick killed Primo not because he thought he was Negan but because he called him on his BS with a bullet to the head. ;)

Now that Primo is dead, hopefully Carol and Maggie have enough time to "spill" what they know and let them know the "real" Negan is on his way. Hopefully, they can get some sort of attack plan in place as it was a 30 minute ETA until Negan was going to arrive which was at about the same time as Rick and group set up to make the trade to get Carol and Maggie back.

Not lovin' Carol right now...I do think a bit of it is a ruse to make Negan's group think she is weak but she started hyperventilating when it was jsut her and Maggie plus her weakness was/is showing even when Negan's group is not around....I hope not but really think Carol is starting to crack

I think that Carol started her downward spiral after that business with Morgan. I did think that she started the hyperventilating to get the gag out of her mouth but I don't remember when she started it. The manipulation of the rosary was definitely a bit of cunning in other words the old Carol.

I think that Carol will pull it together or at least I hope so. She is one of the best actors on the show.

Yes, I also think Morgan got in her head BIG time!

I have always loved Carol and found her to be such a strong force to be reckoned with....really hoping she gets "it" together before season finale and that it is not her that will be killed.

I have wondered about her demise after they made such a big deal during interviews in the first part of the season about Carol being the one character they would never kill off and how she would be the last one standing...makes me wonder if they were making us feel all secure in her character's role.

Laura Cohan cutting her hair in real life also makes me wonder about her future...before her onscreen sister Beth was killed off, there were little incidents that Emily Kinney was doing in real life that set off fans so that they knew something was up.....just can't see them allowing her to get a "stylish" hairdo as that would be very unlikely in the world they now live in.

Guess only time will tell....TWD has shocked us before and will continue to do so...heck, that's why we are all such loyal fans!

I was under the impression that the folks who had an ETA of 30 minutes from the walkie were the ones that showed up at the end that Carol and Maggie set on fire. After the redhead was impaled, Carol grabbed the walkie and told them to meet in the kill room trying to disguise her voice as the redhead that was just killed (her name escapes me). I don't think Negan was in that group, and I don't think we know where he is yet.

I'm wondering if our group will think they must have already killed Negan, or if they will be questioning Negan's existence now. When that smoker lady said "We're all Negan", Carol kept asking what does that mean and didn't get a response. I suspect Negan will come upon our group when they aren't expecting it, not realizing there's still a bad dude named Negan out there.

Comic reference below:

I wonder if Lauren Cohens hair cut is kind of a red herring. Everyone seems to be jumping to the conclusion that they are following the comics where Maggie cuts her hair after Glenn is killed (this has been talked about greatly online) and then she takes on a leadership role (like when Rick was pushing her to negotiate with the Hilltop people.) I almost wonder if Maggie will be killed and it would be like a kick in the gut for everyone.

For some reason, I find it surprising that the folks at WD would let her walk around with a fancy new short cut, knowing how strict they are about ANY info leaking out about potential plot lines. They guard scripts like they are the crown jewels of London, and people auditioning for WD don't even know they are auditioning for WD. The lady on TD last night said she had no idea what she was auditioning for. She showed up and played a bank robber then got the part and was not told what show it was, or what the part was until she was on the plane on the way to the taping. Actors are not even given the full script, just the parts they need to learn.

It is just too obvious that they are tricking us or something to me, something just doesn't feel right. They are so strict about the cast not changing appearances so the viewer does not notice the passing of time. If they truly were pursuing that storyline about Maggie cutting her hair and becoming a leader, I think they would have her wear a short wig during taping instead of really cutting her hair. I don't know, it just seem off to me, I am probably way off base LOL!

I thought it was 30 minutes until that scout party that they Carol and Maggie trapped and killed arrived, not Negan.

I agree with you about Maggie and the haircut, and thought it might be indicative of Glenn getting killed by Lucille in the finale. It makes the most sense. But like you said, letting her walk around with the cut, post pics on IG, etc. seems too loose for them. There's also been foreshadowing of Glenn and Lucille in prior episodes and seasons, and then with the whole is Glenn dead or isn't he during the mid-season finale timeframe. All seems too convenient and telling, which makes me think it's highly possible another main character could fill the Glenn/Lucille plot line instead. Maybe Maggie, I've seen Darryl rumored as well.
@anniemae

I just assumed it was the rest of the group including Negan....he could be out there somewhere watching and waiting for the "right" time to make his dreaded appearance. I really don't want Negan to appear because we all know it is the end for one or more main characters but I so want to see what Jeffery Dean Morgan  is going to bring as Negan. What I am 150% sure of, is that the sweet, lovable "Denny" I loved from Grey's Anatomy is not going to be this guy!

I never read the comics that far along (only got to Terminus) and never knew about Maggie cutting her hair but agree wholeheartedly that would be just like TWD to throw us a red herring/curve ball as they know so many are scrutinizing every detail between comic and show to try to figure out what is going to happen next. I do think it is going to be shocking no matter what.

I am just as guilty as everyone else, trying to find out what might be happening next! Heck, I keep watching at a video Steve Yeun has posted on Instagram where he "pans" the group in a short video trying to figure out what may be going to happen and there's nothing to telling, just a bunch of the cast smiling for the camera....seriously, as if that helps at all! LOL

I agree. I think she was playing weak, but in the process of sitting there and trying to manipulate the situation she got to thinking about the things Morgan had said, the parallels between her and Paula, and the shift in their role in the world from defenders to aggressors. That's a lot to have going on and would make just about anyone second guess things a bit.

Now that Primo is dead, hopefully Carol and Maggie have enough time to "spill" what they know and let them know the "real" Negan is on his way. I think the ETA was for the reinforcements that got burned up on the kill floor, not for Negan himself. I'm starting to suspect we won't see him in the flesh until the season finale.

Yes, the group that was on the walkie talkie (that they told to meet them on the Kill Floor) was the scout party. So they all were burned. But I think that plays into what makes Negan aware of Rick's group and ultimately brings him to the area (since now another group was killed/went missing).

I thought cancer coughing lady was in the room when she started hyperventilating and was making fun of her???

I read elsewhere (Walking Dead Fanatics) that Carol was doing stuff with her feet to leave tracks for Darryl and that is how the group found them. Darryl even says it when he hugs her. Now that to me is still some badass Carol going on!!!!

I was just tickled last night to see that Alia from Dune grew up to be a beautiful redhead. Too bad they didn't keep her. :(

I think Carol is now realizing how many people she has killed because she now has the time to think about it. Before Alexandria they were constantly on the go, having to kill without thinking. Now they have a lot of downtime and not much to do but be with their thoughts.

I was also disappointed that Glenn's first kill was with someone that was not posing a threat. I would have preferred it to be done with him saving someone. Even Rick paused before he killed that guy because it was the first time Rick killed someone that didn't pose a threat. As crazy as Rick has been he has not just killed someone, he always killed in a life or death situation.

I thought it was a good episode. LOVED all the screen time for Maggie and Carol, Carol's been MIA recently. My thoughts, in no particular order.

I think Carol's "cracking" started with too much down time to think about stuff. Having time at Alexandria to get back to "normal" may not be too good for the psyche with no shrink around. In the slaughterhouse, I think she saw herself in Paula if she loses her humanity.

Loved the honesty from Carol and hug from Daryl at the end.

I feel like it may still be Maggie or Glenn based on Maggie's statement that this plan is going to cost the group (from previous episode). Not sure about my last theory of Tara or Heath. Who would have kidnapped them? How many scout parties are out there running around for Negan?

Do we believe that they "found" Daryl's bike or is Dwayne or whatever his name is really a part of Negan's group?
