First, thanks to all who have answered my previous posts on the differences between POFQ and POR.

The biggest issue now for my family is the walking distance from our room and the main area (food court). We tend to use the foodcourt every day for breakfast. No one minds a good 5 minute walk, but much over that and we wouldn't be happy. To give you an idea we always stay at CBR Martinique, any building is ok. We know that POFQ would not be an issue, but everyone likes everything else at POR.

So my question is this: How long of a walk is it from Magnolia Terrace or Oak Manor to the food court?

As a side question, I read somewhere that Oak Manor is a smoking building, is this true?

Thanks Again!

I was in Oak Manor in December, and the room I was in was definitely non-smoking.

The entire Magnolia Terrace is a non-smoking building. I imagine the other mansions have some non-smoking rooms. It is no more than 5 minutes from the center of MT to the food court. :D I imagine if you had a room way out by the parking lot it could be further. We were in the middle of the "H"(that is how MT is shaped) .

In the mansion buildings request a room close to the river. That way your walk to the main building will be much shorter. The mansions are huge buildings and rooms near the parking lot are farther away from the food court.

PLEASE keep in mind that it's more than just "a walk to the food court."

POR is a beautifully landscaped resort. The walking paths meander thru the lush foliage and beside the river. There are lots of plants, flowers, birds, ducks, rabbits and other things to make the "walk" different and enjoyable.

Thanks for all of your feedback.

Also, thanks LindaR for pointing out the beauty of the resort. I think that is one of the reasons why we want to stay there. The issue is that in the am, we really want to get going where we have to go and stop and "smell the flowers" at another time of the day.

It sounds like it will be ok and we were planning on asking for a river view room too!

Thanks again everyone!

We are kinda different! We always ask for a bldg AS FAR FROM the food court as possible. Last time we stayed there we were in Alligator Bayou in bldg 37 or 38? (have to look at a map) and it only took a few minutes to walk from our bldg to the food court.

POR is one of the prettiest places to stay. We live in the desert southwest and we REALLY appreciate the scenery at POR!!!!

Thanks everyone. It looks like we would be happy with Magnolia Terr river view. Your info has really helped.

Thanks for the info, as we are staying at PO/R with Grama and her rented ECV in May. I would rather be closer to the parking lot, but since she could ride the ECV to the car, it probably would not matter. Is the food court Riverside Mill?

Riverside Mill is the food court. As with all moderates, all of your guest services are housed in this one central building.

Last time at POR we stayed in AB 36. We had a 5-10 minute walk (depending on our speed!) to the food court. It was a delightful walk and after spending all day walking another 5-10 minutes wasn't too much of an issue. ;)

POR is a great resort and whether you're on the AB or mansion side, I hope you enjoy the beauty of the resort!
