Need some input from someone experienced in the waitlist and 7 month windows..

I screwed up and didn't make an attempt to get a ressie at BCV (home) for December till today. I was able to get 3 of the 5 days (second, third, and last).. Day one is Sunday the 5th and also our anniversary (why we are going.. at least that is what we tell each other).. day 4 also presents a problem.. I am trying for a studio.

MS says they have a one bedroom available for my dates, but we feel we need to conserve the points for a big trip next June. So.. what does everyone think about hanging tough in hopes of a 7 month shuffle? Is it going to happen, and will we have a good chance of success looking for just two days, or should I bite the bullet and get the one bedroom? How long should I wait before attempting a reservation at another resort.. do it right at the 7 month window? We wouldn't be opposed to moving for the last two days..

Thoughts anyone?

I would hang with the day-by-day waitlist.

We waitlisted for a BWV studio in May on less than 3 mos notice, and it came through about two weeks later. Of course we had already upgraded to a 1B by then (for which I have no regrets).

Going day-by-day gives you the best chance of getting a room. Rather than waiting for 5 consecutive days to open up all at the same time, you just need those two individual days to come open due to ANY cancellation.

The farther out people are making their reservations, the greater chance there will be for a cancellation.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really hope you are correct, my palms get sweaty just thinking of what Mrs Fingers will do to me if it doesn't come thru. Normally, I don't think I would worry this much, but it is a prime DVC week..

I guess the worse thing that could happen is we would cancell everything and use the points in June 05, .....and I buy a truckload of Roses in December.

I agree with keeping the day by day waitlist.

In additon, I'd make a back up reservation somewhere for cash. Maybe even go with one of the values or moderates. I'd want to go at that time even if I couldn't stay "at home."

True, the mods and values are not DVC, but a cash ressie would enable you to take the trip if the waitlist doesn't work out, AND it might give you some peace of mind while you wait and hope. It would, me.

Good luck -
