I would like to play at UF (University of Florida) but they don't have a mens NCAA team, only intermural. Same with UCF( University of Central Florida).

U Miami has one, at least they do for women. I looked at them when I was considering college.

But in sadder news...I'm thinking of quitting volleyball. My team is just getting on my nerves so badly! I can't stand most of them. One of my friends is a captain and she's a junior (like me) but usually only seniors are captains and it is really going to her head. She's not the same person I became friends with when we're at practice! That and I feel like most of my team doesn't really get that when I practice, I'm in constant pain. Between my Plantar Faciitis, my Bursitis, and my Tendonitis, it hurts to run, serve, hit (my position), jump and do any of the basics. Today I couldn't lift my arm because I over did it at the game yesterday, so I had to sit out through Queen of the Court, the scrimmage, and serving practice. I couldn't even help take down nets (my job this week along with several other girls...only one of which can lift the poles out of their holes). So I was lying on the late bus waiting to go home and one of the girls that is on my nets team gets on (we live in the same town) and she just glares at me and says "thanks for helping with the nets" and she just spat it out like it was hurting her to think of talking to me. And that really makes me not want to play. Part of the reason I hurt so much is because we've been out of ice bags for a while, so I haven't been able to ice before practice and that makes my shoulder hurt less, it slows the swelling. I also haven't been able to get my ankles properly taped, so they're bugging me worse than usual. I'm really thinking about just throwing in the towel and quitting. I just don't know if it's worth it to keep getting treated like crap...

Ha well, we're still undefeated. We won our game Tuesday. It was a joke. We played like crap and yet managed to win.

And then.....the varstiy played after us and we have to stay and watch and they played 5 games. THEN, they had to shower after the game so we got back to the HS at 1015pm. *NOTE:This is the night of the first day of school!* It was ridiculous. I got to bed at 1130. I still had homework! And I got up at 6 the next morning! But for now on, my mom's writing me a note to get out of the varsity away games. YAY!

We lost our first game Thursday night.

But we're still 20-5 and 10-1.

My team is...0-4. We're so awful. Almost all of the JV girls are self centered and all they care about is how they aren't playing varsity. It's their FIRST YEAR PLAYING, for Pete's sake! How can you expect to make varsity your first year. We've also got a first year senior who is always talking about how pumped we need to be and how pumped she is to play, but always starts taking it out on everybody else when she messes up. Our last game she was all "I'm from an individual sport (ski racing) so I know that you have to get pumped and be excited and focused. You have to talk out there, ladies! Be excited!" and then coach said "But coming from an individual sport, (we'll call this senior H), doesn't know about playing as a team and having to work together to achieve a goal, you have to work as one being to play well" and H just shut up from there because coach caught her being full of herself. She is, too, I swear. She's a pot-head, too. She makes me sick. She's "you have to work harder, ladies! C'mon push it!" and "I worked in the gym all summer to get in shape for ski racing and then I decided to play volleyball, too. I'm super!" and I really just want to slap her and say "I spent six weeks training extremely hard. I went to a specialty volleyball camp for a week to improve my skills. Yet, somehow, you're going to get a letter and I'm not because I took a week off for a vacation with my family that was planned when I wasn't going to miss any games. Yet somehow the schedule changed and I missed a scrimmage, a tournament, and a required field trip to watch UNH play. Don't talk to me about pushing myself!" UGH! She's so annoying!

Sorry about the rant...again. I guess volleyball just stresses me out when self-righteous people start to tell others how to improve when they aren't doing anything to make themselves a better player.

KK. Volleyball update.

I'm still a starter. Yay! Last Saturday, we had a game......

We were down 9-18. Our coach called a timeout, stared at us, and said "You need what you guys need to do" then sent us back to the court. We ended up winning 25-23! In the second game we won 25-15. It was amazing!

Well, I still hate my team. My team has no sense of sport/team pride. At all. We (varsity) get told to cheer for JV and then they never cheer for us. I'm currently unable to talk because I lost my voice making calls on the court. I can't stand the fact that during the varsity games half the JV team goes and sits in the bleachers with guys instead of sitting on the bench and then wonder why coach doesn't play them. JV is all first year players and they wonder why they don't play varsity- they assume coach is playing favorites. And they apparently hate the varsity players because they think we act like we're better than them. I can't stand most of my team.

Anyway, we're currently the single worst team in the division. We lost to Bedford...a team that is only freshman and sophomores...which is really depressing. I'm considering quitting. Along with about a third of the varsity team. I dunno how much more losing I can take.
