The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

It's a popular talking point and while it's true, the dues don't seem to be nearly as much as the VDH tax. It's probably a wash, all things considered, but it really sucks to pay for the TOT at checkout. I think the buy in price is kind of overlooked and forgotten. The checkout tax after each stay is a constant reminder of how much we're paying.
Do their dues include refreshing shower heads? Apparently ours have not…

I know, it’s painful to travel in periods 3-4. That’s why we are looking at going some more points at VDH instead of VGC, but looking at the booking patterns for the 1br and 2br. We definitely graduated from studio stays, unless that is our only option.
2bd’s are a really good “value” in period 1 and 2… my wife wanted to move our trip next year in a 2BD from June to July and my eyes just popped out of my head… our MK’s expire in August…

Are they even metal showerheads? You would think they would just use the plastic ones and swap them out every couple years, probably cheaper than cleaning / descaling them. I used to live in a hard water area and that was pretty much the most efficient plan.

That’s also part of why owning both is perfection. Certain times of year the extra point cost at VGC is actually more money just factoring dues on points, not even including buy in cost, than paying TOT

Yeah they are cheap and take even a non handy person 5 min to swap out.

thanks! I have a stay upcoming for 3 nights at VGC in December, but the flight was much cheaper if we arrived the night before so now I'm going to be hunting for a single night reservation. I doubt my waitlist will come through. Was thinking of hitting up the reservation scalpers on Facebook for a night at VDH so I can try it out.

In case you missed this morning's announcement.

If it was 1 LL a day it would be fine but 1 per stay is a pretty terrible change what the heck? I know it’s only 3 hotels but you’re already making a less popular option of staying on property for the very few benefits you get for the crazy cash prices, and making it even less attractive. I hope enough people complain they change it to 1 LL per day at least.

How would it work if you already have purchased LL? Can you ride one ride twice? I’m sure the DVC Guides in CA were thrilled to hear about this….
