Tess said:DeVito was a piece of work yesterday. He proceeded to demean the current President and advise that the White House isn't as "smart" as it was when Clinton was president.
He regaled the audience with a tale of how when Clinton was president, he and his wife (Rhea Perlman) were invited to spend the night in the White House. DeVito indicated he "slept" in the Lincoln bedroom. He went on to tell how he and his wife "utilized" every nook and cranny of the room. The man gave way TMI and it really did nothing for the Clinton administration legacy. It also detracted from his goal of defiling the current administration, i.e., the drinking, partying atmosphere of the Clinton era versus the lack of that attitude in the current.
DeVito really came off badly and, frankly, was an embarrassment to the hospitality of the past administration. It would be difficult to take his left leaning criticism seriously when he was obviously in diminished capacity. BW was clearly uncomfortable and Elisabeth was fuming. Rosie and Joy, of course, were as raucous as DeVito.
A truly difficult segment to watch and, sadly, yet another black eye for a show that was formerly (prior to Rosie) more balanced in its political agendas or at least its presentation of political issues and associated jibes. In the past couple of weeks The View has managed to offend any number of guests and/or potential guests with the nasty post-interview comments. The comedic end of the show has definitely taken a turn toward the negative political vein.
Nicely stated.
And I saw the video and though pretty much the same thing.

Was he drinking between shows?
