THE VIEW..re: Danny DeVito? UPDATE..pg 4 pt 48..DeVINO

DeVito was a piece of work yesterday. He proceeded to demean the current President and advise that the White House isn't as "smart" as it was when Clinton was president.

He regaled the audience with a tale of how when Clinton was president, he and his wife (Rhea Perlman) were invited to spend the night in the White House. DeVito indicated he "slept" in the Lincoln bedroom. He went on to tell how he and his wife "utilized" every nook and cranny of the room. The man gave way TMI and it really did nothing for the Clinton administration legacy. It also detracted from his goal of defiling the current administration, i.e., the drinking, partying atmosphere of the Clinton era versus the lack of that attitude in the current.

DeVito really came off badly and, frankly, was an embarrassment to the hospitality of the past administration. It would be difficult to take his left leaning criticism seriously when he was obviously in diminished capacity. BW was clearly uncomfortable and Elisabeth was fuming. Rosie and Joy, of course, were as raucous as DeVito.

A truly difficult segment to watch and, sadly, yet another black eye for a show that was formerly (prior to Rosie) more balanced in its political agendas or at least its presentation of political issues and associated jibes. In the past couple of weeks The View has managed to offend any number of guests and/or potential guests with the nasty post-interview comments. The comedic end of the show has definitely taken a turn toward the negative political vein.

Nicely stated.

And I saw the video and though pretty much the same thing.

he called him numb n*ts, then Joy corrected him saying that was President Numb N*ts:

Thats funny, that is exactly what I call him too!
I didn't watch the view and I am glad I did not. It repulses me to see people that have been drinking.

Yeah, that Clinton White House was really "smart" the way they were using all that time entertaining really "important" people in the world like Danny DeVito. That place was like a cheap motel for sleeze during that administration. Bill was so busy with Monica and idiots like DeVito, it ain't no wonder Bin Laden was very busy making plans at that time.

Wow Danny Devito's sex in the Lincoln bedroom caused 9/11! How'd you managed to do what the 9/11 Commission couldn't!?

When celebs misbehave, they either go into rehab or hire damage control consultants. I guess that makes everything okay...

I didn't say that, I said something to the effect of Clintons obsessions with celebrity and sex that were major distractions for him during his term sure didn't do anything to help the situation.

No I don't think Danny Devito is important enough to have any effect on anything.

Yeah, too bad we can't send our presidents to rehab. The last one and the current one obviously have needed it.

I usually don't even open political threads anymore here on the DIS, basically because the extremes that exist here are just too far out of my realm of reality. Didn't know what this was going to be about but I gotta say I got a GOOD laugh from the leaps that have been made on this thread. Geesh! :rotfl:

Well since we lived 8 years with peace and prosperity, I say long live celebrity obsession and good sex. :rotfl:

Not everyone lived with prosperity-Former President Clinton fired me and hundreds of other workers so he could brag about reducing the federal workforce. Now, your tax dollars are paying contractors twice as much as what you paid us to do the same jobs.

I can't remember the last President I've actually been satisfied with, nor can I remember the last celebrity (drunk or sober)whose opinion on politics that I cared about. It's pretty sad when almost anyone can name the winner of American Idol and hardly anyone can remember the names of their Senators if it isn't an election year. The celebrity obsession in this country is embarrassing.

I'm just wondering.....were the girls on the view laughing and defending Mel Gibson and Kramer when they were drunk and saying awful things???

Me thinks not!!!

Here is some info that makes his behavior even more bizarre...he had been on Fox & Friends (Fox News) earlier in the morning and acted perfectly normal. :confused3 Was he drinking between shows?

In all fairness, and I wouldn't even say anything except you have said on quite a few occasions, "The President" fired me, not "I lost my Fed job under President Clinton", isn't this sort of a damned if you do and damned if you don't kind of thing? I mean, it's the Republicans that are all gung ho for smaller government and slashing federal jobs. It could just as easily be the Bush #1 administration that let you go. Would you criticize him the same way for doing it and bragging about cutting the fed workforce? You have to admit, if you have a fed job, chances are a Republican wants to slash it more than a Democrat. Clinton did what he did because he tried to embrace a Republican ideal, smaller government.

I'm certainly not going to argue on this one. I'm sure there were some people who did not live with propserity, but the nation as a whole did. And we lived with sustained peace overseas. Hardly the nightmare someone described upthread. I could give my opinion, and you could give yours, and we could go round and round and round but I think I'll pass. I have no real opinion on Danny DeVito, other than I liked him on Taxi. If he was drunk and acting like an *** that has no real bearing on how I feel about either the former or current President.

But y'all have fun bashing Clinton. It always seems to come around to that, doesn't it? Its almost funny. I never see that here in D.C., where Clinton is much loved and revered, but I get my daily dose of it on the DIS. I think I've had my heaping share today, thanks much! :rotfl:

Before I bow out, I want to quote President Clinton, I read this the other day and really agreed with his message:

"I long for the day when we will return to a debate that is not about who's a good person and who's a slug, not about who represents the religious truth and who is basically running for office on his or her way to hell," he said. "I long for the day when Republicans and Democrats will sit around and have these raucous, exciting arguments and actually love learning from one another and we create the common good out of the dynamic center."

(Bill Clinton)

I agree, no wonder they want to bomb us..... :sad2:

I really could care less what Devito or any other celebrity thinks or what is their political view point. I don't even have an issue with him showing up drunk on the View. It was tasteless to do so, completely unprofessional and as a long time actor in the bussiness he should have known better. But, it was his choice to go on though and was pretty harmless except, for discussing his private sex life in the Lincoln bedroom. I could have done without the image of "Louie" having sex with "Carla" in the White House, which most normal every day Americans don't even get visit, let alone stay there over night. Somethings you just don't need to know and those two items mentioned above, are pretty high on my list.

As the OP of this Thread, I was pretty disgusted with all DeVito's slobbering on the "clip" I saw on Bill O'Reilly and then today I have to see from time to time commercials on TV with DeVito's new Christmas movie...I think its called "Deck The Halls"....NOW why would I want to go see this SLOB after that display on THE VIEW and now all over YOUTUBE. I am wondering how he feels about himself today (the day after)!!! :guilty:

Mel Gibson has a new movie, Apocalypto out as well...how many will be lining up to see that...? :guilty:

And with Jerry Seinfeld's newest DVD "Season 7" just released, reports have been that people are not going to be so quick to run out and buy it up with KRAMER's recent TIRADE. :guilty:

****THIS IS NOW CURRENTLY ON WIKIPEDIA WHEN YOU TYPE IN DANNY DEVITO under his BIOGRAPHY.

Drunk Appearance on the View
On November 29, 2006, Danny DeVito made a scheduled appearance on The View. During his time on the show he made slurred many of his comments and went into a Three Stooges act to voice a tirade against President Bush, calling him "n*m n*ts". According to DeVito he had been out partying the night before with George Clooney, where he supposedly drank heavily. The scence has seen been on many websites such as YouTube and TMZ.

I went to the site to see if he had children and he does, THREE, ages 23yo, 20yo, 18yo....hmmm....I wonder if those children are proud of their dad after carrying on like this on TV??? :confused3
******************************************************

BTW: I went to Wikipedia and checked out Michael Richards and the site quoted him word for word :guilty: and I cannot quote that on the DIS BOARDS.
I also checked out Mel Gibson and well...there was just way toooo much on him to even begin to quote. :guilty:

AND all these people are MILLIONAIRES! :guilty:

If I get to stay up all night with Clooney I want every one to see how trashed I am. He's an actor on a chat show. What kind of responsibility accompanies that? He trashed the president? What about Leno, Letterman, and many others? Big deal

If I get to stay up all night getting drunk with Clooney you bet your butt I'll be on the View running my mouth like a blabbering an idiot, with pictures! :woohoo: :cloud9:

I thought DeVito was funny though. :confused3
