THE VIEW..re: Danny DeVito? UPDATE..pg 4 pt 48..DeVINO

I'm just wondering.....were the girls on the view laughing and defending Mel Gibson and Kramer when they were drunk and saying awful things???

Me thinks not!!!

Just one question: What reality do you live in where anti-Semetism and wishing lynching on a black man is at all comparable to calling the president n*m n*ts and talking about doing it in the Lincoln bedroom? In my reality racism and anti-Semetism have long and ugly histories and are still all too real; they get people murdered, beaten, verbally harrassed, and discriminated against all too often. N*m n*tism though--not sure that's much of a social problem.

I really could care less what Devito or any other celebrity thinks or what is their political view point. I don't even have an issue with him showing up drunk on the View. It was tasteless to do so, completely unprofessional and as a long time actor in the bussiness he should have known better. But, it was his choice to go on though and was pretty harmless except, for discussing his private sex life in the Lincoln bedroom. I could have done without the image of "Louie" having sex with "Carla" in the White House, which most normal every day Americans don't even get visit, let alone stay there over night. Somethings you just don't need to know and those two items mentioned above, are pretty high on my list.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

I never see that here in D.C., where Clinton is much loved and revered,

Where's that?

(just because I feel I should say so since I bothered posting, I don't like Bush either.)

I thought I said they said "awful things", which they did. I hate racism and regret you implied that I don't. You know nothing about me or my reality, or even what race or religion I am.

Well since we lived 8 years with peace and prosperity, I say long live celebrity obsession and good sex. :rotfl:

Wow!!! I don't see Devino or Monica in her blue dress and think good sex.

I'm sorry to imply that you don't hate racism. (I get a little frustrated, because since the Kramer thing I see a lot of other people on the Dis who seem to be downplaying the incident.)

It's just, your earlier post seemed to imply that the people on The View are hypocrites because they'd never laugh had Kramer been doing his racist yelling on stage or Gibson doing is his anti-Semetic rant, but they did laugh when Devito called Bush n*m n*ts (unless there was more, besides the sex TMI, that Devito said that I'm not aware of) and those things are so similarly awful that if it was okay to laugh at one then it must be okay to laugh at the other.

Is this not what you meant? And if it was you meant, how are those things so alike?

I bet Michael Richards and Mel Gibson are happy.

Another person with way too much money and way too few brains.

Mel Gibson has a new movie, Apocalypto out as well...how many will be lining up to see that...?
I can't wait to see that movie. But even before Mel mouthed off I didn't expect to have to stand in line for it.

Just watching Anderson Cooper and all the NYC newspapers have now RE-named Danny DeVito...Danny DeVINO............. :lmao:

Wow...that certainly must be a PROUD moment for Mr. DeVito..ir..I mean DeVINO....... :rotfl: ....... :rotfl:

Honestly, too much is being made of this. Why perpetuate it?

Why do you have a problem with people discussing it...on a DISCUSSION board? You know what they say about the "back button". :) I've seen you discuss topics on and on...and on.

In all fairness, and I wouldn't even say anything except you have said on quite a few occasions, "The President" fired me, not "I lost my Fed job under President Clinton", isn't this sort of a damned if you do and damned if you don't kind of thing? I mean, it's the Republicans that are all gung ho for smaller government and slashing federal jobs. It could just as easily be the Bush #1 administration that let you go. Would you criticize him the same way for doing it and bragging about cutting the fed workforce? You have to admit, if you have a fed job, chances are a Republican wants to slash it more than a Democrat. Clinton did what he did because he tried to embrace a Republican ideal, smaller government.

Making government cost less is something I support. What I do NOT support is playing numbers games. What the Clinton Administration did was fire government workers and then hire the same number of contractors that cost twice as much-so in effect they raised the cost of doing business and that we are ALL paying for. If they had reduced the workforce by introducing more efficient methods of getting the work done, I would have been behind that.

Thanks for taking my inventory there Mare! :) Still po'd at me for something? I don't have a "problem" with it. I guess I just think it's boring, not that sensational and certainly less than important. I find your little attack of me way more interesting than the topic of this thread. I'm more curious about why you did it than ANYTHING Danny DeVito could do or say. Eh?

Probably because when it's a subject you are passionate about, you will discuss it ad nauseum and tell those of us who don't like it not to open the thread or to hit the back button.

And when someone "calls" you on it, it's not an attack. Just like when you "call" someone on something, I am sure you don't think you're attacking another poster. You are stating an opinon, or making an observation. That is, in fact, what we all do on a message board.

Turnabout is fair play. I am posting observations. Quite frankly, I don't know enough about anyone on this message board to be able to "attack" them. But I will post observations about peoples' posting habits, because that is what I "know" of my fellow DISers..

I would urge you to follow the advice you give to others who complain about posts...if you don't want to read about it anymore, don't open it.

????? Did I miss something? What in the world would I be PO'd at you about??? Truly confused; have we had personal contact before, since the limo issue MANY MANY YEARS AGO (and were on the same side LOL)? Nothing else stands out in my mind. :confused3 I'm just aware of the fact (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) that you will pursue a topic that YOU feel that YOU want to discuss. Period. Fine...who cares. So, people want to talk about this. So??? It's really rather simple.

As far as Danny Devito goes, since I didn't comment directly before...I personally find a drunken slobbering adult obnoxious, no matter who he's talking about. :confused3

Yeah, that's what I thought too. So why, all of a sudden, do you want to slam me when I simply say something is boring or not worth all the fuss and you haven't even been posting about it? Oh well, so goes the DIS, eh? SSDD
Sorry, should have PM'd. Will after this.

Well said DISer's!!! :teeth:

Shortbun, you simply commented about people posting, and I simply commented about your comment. And so goes the way of discussion boards. If you take what I said as a "slam" and "attack"...yikes!

I guess I should spend more time on here (or not!)...had to look up SSDD! I'll take it that you meant "Sunshine Daydream". :teeth: Probably not ;) but it does sound so pretty. :)

I think that's asking too much......from either party. ;)

If I get to stay up all night with Clooney I want every one to see how trashed I am. He's an actor on a chat show. What kind of responsibility accompanies that? He trashed the president? What about Leno, Letterman, and many others? Big deal

This is a good point, the late night people are always trashing the President. oooo and being up all night with CLooney... :faint: :faint:
