1/19- Monday Martin Luther King Day

Now the family is all here (except for Mom and Dad who skipped AK to go visit some friends) but DSis, DBIL, DNiece, Daunt, Dcous and DC'sGF (who by the way I love and adore even though I only met her yesterday) are all together and I suggest we head over to the Lion King Festival. Big Al says we have time to Stop at "It's Tough To Be a Bug" on the way. I know my DAunt is going to love both of these.

DSis doesn't want to leave Dino Land without the Florida Family so she stops to make a call on her cell phone. "Oh they're Almost Done" She says. Famous Last Words, and then it begins to rain.

We wait outside Restaurantasaurus, but we need to find cover, so we wait under a nearby DVC kiosk. And what's this? It's unmanned!!! Big Al says they saw me coming and went home. They figured I'd get people over to the open house. NOT TRUE!:guilty:

So we wait. And DCous, goes to get french fries. And we wait. And DBIL goes to get chips. And we wait, and DAunt goes to get Ponchos for everyone who wants them. And we wait. And we wait. And then I send DSIs to find her friends because I'm ready to leave without them. So she finds them. Now Big Al is missing. He often wanders, but usually not far and he's always come back. Well this time he takes a little longer getting back. DBIL says "Hey you had to marry him to get him to leave!" I see no humor there! Finally he returns. I can instantly tell where he was. He had gone off to have a smoke. Now he's not a smoker per se, but he does have some anxiety issues and cigarettes help when the xanax is back in the room.(see Delswife's Dr. isn't the only one with a prescription pad!;) )

No time for ITTBAB now, So we head to the Lion King and I beg Big Al to lead us to a section other than the warthogs. I just can't make the noise right! So he heads over to the LION section! Yay!!!! I LOVE this show. I think this show alone is worth the price into Animal Kingdom for the day! But something's different. I tell Big Al it's all enclosed now and it used to be more open. Not all walled in. He says I'm crazy. Then I hear the woman in front of me say to her husband "this place is walled in, and it used to be more open!" I nudge Big Al and say "Who's crazy?" He says "You AND HER!" Whatever.

Then they get to Hakuna Matata- Could somebody tell me when they stopped doing the hand jive? Cuz I started doing the hand jive until I noticed I was ummmm the only one in the whole place doing it!!!!! That still didn't stop me. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I'm wearing Bridal Mouse Ears on My head so I'm already sticking out like a sore thumb, why not go with it?

From the Lion King I suggest we Fast Pass Kiliminjaro Safaris and go eat lunch at the Tusker House. As we are getting our fast passes an English gentleman asks the Cast Member at the Fast Pass machines "How long is this safari?" to which the CM replies in a dead serious face "Two weeks!" And the gentleman walks away, while I giggle all the way to the Tusker House.

The Florida family goes off, but the meet us later back at KS. We fast pass but it's so late in the day it saves us NO time at all. Our party takes up the last three rows in the safari vehicle and for some reason we are all waiting for a good 15 minutes before we pull away and we are on our safari adventure. I am on an end and have my camera at the ready wrapped securely around my wrist.

Big Al and I have always done the safari ride early in the morning and seen lots of animals, but I notice they are little more scarce this time around. No Tommy's just a few giraffe....I can't really get any good pictures...until this elephant to the right of the vehicle starts running alongside it, but far enough away, so even though I'm on the left side of the vehicle I turn and click the camera and get a shot of the elephant. I begin to think, this is kinda strange, this isn't near the Mud Pits where we usually see elephants and there is only this one.

The vehicle turns and we are still far away from the elephant, but if he were to keep going straight he would run right into our truck, so now I'm seeing him from a different angle and.......OH MY! Here it comes. From the two rows behind us (yes my gang) I hear....."Hey that elephant has five legs" "No he doesn't he has two trunks" and as he is running along his "second trunk" is scratching his underside and then I hear "THAT's a NEAT trick if you can scratch your belly with it!!!!" I can't help but laugh, but I'm waiting for our driver to pull over and let us all out over the crocodiles.

The safari ends with the two eight year olds wondering why all the adults are STILL laughing about the elephant. And then I make a startling realization. I check my digital camera, zoom in on the picture I just took and YES...you guessed it. Among my souvenir photos I have a picture of a very happy elephant...........
