I'm game for wearing a pride themed costume, unfortunately not planning to do W&D.

I was already looking up that Stitch shirt after you posted it because it's adorable. Just wish they had options made out of athletic shirt material.

I would too - but my next rD race will be MW26.

After the group costume this year I think I'm finally convinced to do something for every race next year.

Same! It would be fun if we got enough of us to do colors of the rainbow -- each person is head to toe in one solid color. We could even extend to trans flag colors or duplicate colors if we had enough participation!

Just spitballing maybe the same shirt/tank for everyone in the group, then hat/headband plus shorts/skirt/tutus for assigned color?

That would make more sense. And easier for matching, since finding a shirt and skirt in the same exact color that a person is comfortable running in can be tricky

Anyone else freaking out about Joann closing ALL their stores now?! We literally have zero other fabric stores in my area. I've used Spoonflower, but maybe we should use this thread to share a list of fabric and sewing/costume supply shops we use?

wait WHAT. Is this new information? Last I saw it was just *most* of the stores (and my local store was staying open.) Uuuuugh. That sucks if they're closing everything now.

The other only place I have locally with fabric that isn't quilting-specific is Hobby Lobby and I try to avoid shopping there for *reasons*

I saw it on GMA this morning. They jumped from "most" directly to "all" stores closing. And it sounds like all the clearing out will be done with online sales.

They ARE doing clearance sales as of now in all stores, so it is IRL too. Some items, like sewing machines, are no longer on the site at all, so I'm guessing those are being sold only in person.

I just bought this amazing daisy duck costume pattern to try to get back into sewing. Now I'll have to rush to Joann's to buy anything I could possibly ever need.



Regarding other options, I also have hobby lobby locally but prefer to avoid it. Growing up, my local Walmart had a sewing section. I think some still do so that might be an option. I'm not aware of any other major retailers with fabric. I guess I'll cross my fingers that a local option pops up or Michael's attempts to fill the gap.

I can't help with alternatives since I'm in Canada, but I'm in a facebook group (Sew Disney) that's all about sewing Disney related things. Most people seem to be based out of the US, so might be a good place to look for alternatives.

Is it terrible that I'm trying to figure out how awful it would be to try to make a League of Their Own style baseball dress in disney character-themed fabrics? All of that spandex sounds like it would be terrible to try to sew. But also, how super duper cute would it be???

I love this! Years ago, DH and I dressed as Hades and Meg for an MNSSHP. I bought a blue Troll wig and spray painted the tips silver. It looked great!
